Emma gave us one of the most exciting sporting events in our life. A qualifier winning a slam without losing a set will never happen again. A truly Cinderella story. The fairy tale of New York. If she does not win another match, it would further amplified what an amazing achievement that was.

A very wise, mature press conference which can't be easy when you've just lost a match and don't feel overly well. Well done Emma! Looking forward to your next match.

Never use excuses for losing...she is not tournament tuff after an injury hiatus of 15 months. Emma never should have fired her coach after winning US Open. Her window is closing as another generation of East Euros are coming up.
She is not feeling well since she won that US open 😂😂😂
Emma rightly looks back positively on the 4 matches since the 8 months of difficult recovery and 5 weeks of tennis training. She played at a higher level than could have been expected and has remained injury-free. Every reason to look to the future with confidence.
I like Emma so much!! I really hope she has a great year!! She played very well considering she just came back.

I have to admit she's acting in a more mature manner since her return.

Since the amazing US Open win Miss Radacanu's life has been one endless starting point. It is now time for her amazing talent to shine again.
Talent for composing sick notes: "Yesterday I went to a place and I played a tennis match. I was winning but a butterfly landed on my kneecap and injured me. The end".
Win and lose is not a big deal as long as you don't give up.

If Emma's career were done, how are you going to keep your living tomorrow in your mediocre life?
Are you going to say to your daughter who is 21 years old like "Your life is done now because you have failed in the competition."
Are you going to say like that to your family or friends? What is the matter with you guys? Please take a look at what kind of monster lives deep inside of yourself.
You can cut the crap with all that bull shit. No one is saying her career is done, she is just not going to be winning slams that's all, many people play forever without winning slams.
The above reply to your comment totally crushed your ‘monster inside you’ theory.
Noone said her life is done, but most people its easy to notice that she isnt gonna be at the top of the game. Diehard fans like you must chill out a bit

@@gaskellr44 I can definitely bet my life savings that she won't win any between 2024 and 2026.
I think losing in the manner that Emma did, may prove more beneficial in the long run than an easy straight sets win. There’s a lot of positives to take from the first four matches of the season for Emma. I look forward to see where she plays next; Probably Linz or Cluj.
She will take a break to get well. Aussie conditions can be tough for any athlete. She will bounce back.

Beautiful in every way
Well done emma
Emma will never get back to a top level until her parents stop interfering with her coaches. No good coaches will work with her to fix the obvious problems in her game.
Emma has been too much under pressure due to the expectation of her fans. She is still promising player with the huge achivement as the winnner of the major competition. I can see Emma got mature and calm enough to control herself in this sad situation. Emma is still the most popular player in WTA. Emma needs to take a little more time to come back. Keep going Emma! We are gonna be on your side no matter you play good or bad as your fan.
She's not even in the top 5 most popular players on the WTA tbh with you. She may need to go back to the ITF because she'll have to qualify now for all the tournaments that she enters because of her low ranking .
She has already won Grand Slam so mission accomplished. The endorsements are rolling in. She just needs to stay healthy and stay in top 100 and will be okay.
Popularity does not win you second round matches
@@Kyle27ishSo the WTA 3 (Rybakina) and WTA 5 (Pegula) are not popular because they didn't win 2nd round matches ??
I don’t think she’s that popular tbh, however she is still a great talent. Just needs to work hard, stay focused and injury free.
Brilliant Emma as usual, proud of you, love you pc interviews as tennis match
Emma is obviously disappointed about because Wang played exceptionally well and hardly missed a shot. It was clear that Emma was missing some match practice and this will come in due course. I liked her fighting spirit, which almost paid off.
Her talent is not in doubt, but she’s physically too frail for the professional game. Constantly injured or lacking in conditioning - from inability to breathe, to blisters on the hand, to leg cramps, to back problems, to glute pain, to wrist and ankle issues, to sick with vomit…. and she often was hindered with injuries as a junior too. I’m a fan of her talent and charisma, but I’m beginning to seriously wonder if this is a pattern that isn’t going to go away. Some people’s bodies are just not built for the grind of professional tennis. She won quick, straight-set matches at the 2021 US Open, and I think she’s probably gonna have to do that to ever win a Grand Slam again.
You may be right, she does seem to suffer quite a number of injuries which compounds her ability to build conditioning, strength and match fitness. However you don’t win any major by luck, and she has already progressed in major tournaments at just 18. I believe she is mentally tough and if she can stay fit, focussed and build up her strength then she has a great career ahead of her. But yes, a lot of ifs remain
You are right, but I also think there is a mental problem. She will never win another Grand Slam again. And for the other comment... It was luck, she played well but you have to look at what was going on in 2021, who was the other player in that final and where is that player ranked now? and how well is she doing? Go check it out.
@@ghostrider2900 Bit of bold prediction to say she will never win another slam. Irrespective of the contextual issues in 2021 she battled through against tough opponents without losing one set and had to play three qualifying rounds beforehand, all at just 18 years of age to win the USO. She has the talent, she proved she had the mental strength then. Only time will tell of she can replicate that achievement.
@@Sanctified57 Not bold, facts. Just take a look at grand Slam winners over the last 3 years. Did
you read the last part of my comment regarding the other player in that final? I'm telling you now, I been following the men's and women's tennis for a very very long time. I just give you a little incite. When Fed was playing with a 90 sq inch frame and people said he was finish, I said to many people he needs to change his rqt and go for a bigger head, people laugh, few years later he changed his rqt, went for a bigger head and won 2 slams. When you watch tennis, you really got to watch it. I was even surprise at the commentary of the Novak match, they didn't pick up on that he had a problem until mid/later stage of the second set, I saw that he had a issue at the start of the second set. It's nice to cheer on your favourites, but you need to watch the game to appreciate it. She will never be a Grand Slam champion again. You can make a note of this and come back to me in 10 years.
@@ghostrider2900 It’s not a fact to say she will never win another slam, it’s a prediction, because it hasn’t happened yet. Unless of course you’re a time traveler. You say you’ve been watching men’s and women’s tennis for a very very long* time. How old are you? 150? Lol
Emma was able to play AO using her protected ranking and I think she can use it to enter 12 tournament in total, her PR is 104 that is not enough to enter directly to most tournaments and at slams she needs some players to be injured like in this AO. If she is not able to get some points her situation is going to be complicated. Right now her real ranking is 294 after loosing 2r, she had a very good opportunity to make it to 3r, Wang is #94 and if she can’t defeat these players I don’t know who she will defeat
She’s been injured and is just coming back. Women’s tennis is so volatile and erratic, and rankings can change dramatically with every tournament. Apart from the one or two seasoned pros like Swiatek so many lower ranked women players can win a major.
There two ways to go up in her rankings now, win more matches in tournament she can get in and try to stay away from qualifying rounds because players in Q are very motivated towards winning matches and put out everything they have and more to step up. I do not think Emma could handle players that are so hunger to succeed.😮
I wouldn't take too much notice of rankings, just a guide really as any player can blow a top 10 playere away on nay given day/night. Thankfully, she wont be entertaining any doubt like a lot of you lot, even though you are trying to come over pragmatic in your comments, still a lot of negativity there. Best 3 word s are "Que Sera Sera".
For god sake, she was one of them and did it in 21, 3 quals without losing a set and then 7 more in the same fashion, to lift a major. Baffles me how there can be so many idiotic haters and negs on here. She has proved herself to be a chapion but I guess there are ppl who don't like those that succeed, so are quick to try to knock them down...equivellent to school bullying.@@Agent77X
@@Agent77X In my opinion the best option is to play some 250s or even 125s and get as much competitive matches as possible, when she won USO she played a 125 the week before and made the final, in those tournaments she can win some matches, get confidence have a better sense of her level, what to improve and doing it in the process etc… going 1 pr 2 rounds in slams is not very productive I think
She must be so excited to be back playing and I feel like these reporters actually want to bring her back down with all these negatively framed questions. I can see why a lot of players don’t give the best versions of themselves to the press.
These are normal media questions.
@@jonfreeman9682 I’m well aware it’s the normal way they do things. I’m not suggesting they treat Emma any differently to other players. I just think it would be better if they would actually ask open questions and leave the players to answer things instead of framing everything in a context. You often find the players to be interesting people but you rarely see any of it at press conferences and feel they are rightly always defensive towards most of the press.
Agreed, I’ve seen Federer, Djokovic and Nadal very irritated with some of the after match media questions
How often does she lose without having an excuse of a medical timeout? Not very often. And she always looks weak in physically tough matches. Time to work it out-whether it's the food, nerves or wrong methods of training.
Since making history by winning the US open as a unranked qualifier then two weeks after that firing her coach and laterally going from hero to zero.. I think she has been the biggest flash in the pan in tennis history! Yes she has lots of time because she achieved so much when only 18. but Barty retired at the rip old age of 25.. Biggest Flash in the pan ever.. So disappointed..

@@waynepinnock5874Hard to judge her because of all the injuries. If she goes 6 months morevor less injury free and still hasn’t gotten anywhere then we can re-assess. Plus she’s still only 20 right. Most players in the current era don’t win much at that age. Part of her problem I think is that she went straight to the senior tour and then got to the top too quickly, and before she could develop the physical fitness and robustness to maintain it. Unlike, say, Coco, who built up on the tour gradually from 15.

More down to earth these days. Maturity setting in and that's a good thing. If I were her agent or one of her parents or her coach, I would suggest that she find another word than "niggles" to say repeatedly. It always makes me flinch. Maybe just say it differently, i.e., "...things to complain about." "Faults." "errors." "nuisances." Just don't say "niggles!" It doesn't work on an international stage.
I do like the more mature her too, unfortunate real life issues do have its benefits. Niggles is a strange word, I think it’s not too bad a word except in the way it resembles the n word.
