Solid song? One of their best songs? Were we listening to the same thing? This was a masterful performance from the era. These guys took a gospel-based song, converted it to the then-new Funk genre, introduced an entire horn section, threw in a visual story, and even added visual effects as the icing on the cake. The Parliaments raised the bar for everything else. They were much more than solid. They were stupendous.
I like to think Glen would have gone on to be huge as a solo artist or with his own band. He was THAT good. This is like a religious experience he's having. It gives the theme of this album more double meaning and depth.
Lo fué con ese único, legendario y hasta casi mitico album Quazar de 1978 y que todavía es dificil de conseguir y gracias a las canciones que ha liberado su hermano Kevin en esta misma plataforma. Saludos desde Chile.
When the Mothership lands, Dr Funkenstein comes out, which is the second part of this song. The best version on YT is a year later, Watch it. 1977 Dr. Funkenstein

The horn section is top notch. Macro Parker and Fred Weasley, both from James Brown's band, which absolutely required the tightest horn section .
