I have had my p3se since xmas and got like 40 flights so far and I love it!!!! The range is great! I live in an urban area and I'm getting a mile witch the parabolic dish. I thin you have the dish on wrong by the way. The little cut out fits over the bottm on the antenna. But anyway for the people who are thinking about getting this drone,,,,,, get it!!! like I said I have flown a mile in an urban area and still have video the whole way. I know when I go to a massive open area ill get 2 miles for sure!!! I have to keep my phantom in between this building and this tree to go out this far and even with those 2 structures on the sides it still goes so far! The camera is good and the gimbal stability is great!!! I showed my girl the footage and she goes wow nice picture and I said babe that the video. So that's how steady she is.
Hi DroneRacer, According to DJI the center stub antenna is only used for communicating between your mobile device and the remote controller. The two antennas used for communicating with the aircraft are inside the controller. What you may have experienced is propagation on a "good" vs a bad day. Or, it could have switched from 2.4gHz to 5.8gHz if your mobile device is capable of it. Most recent tablets and phones are. Just a thought. What ever the case the distance is very impressive!!
Maybe if your device is dual band capable it switched between 2.4gHz and 5.8gHz? There are many articles on the DJI forum now about the longer range. It is really a form of Lightbridge. The connection between the RC and your device is 2.4GHz and is using the external antenna. Your "send" antenna is inside on the left and the receive is inside on the right. These are all ongoing hot topics on the DJI forum with input from DJI staff. Very interesting reading a makes the SE even more desirable. Try to find one online now before Christmas...LOL
No. They have discontinued the Phantom 3 Advanced. But the P3 SE right now is one of the hottest sellers. Everywhere short of China is sold out prior to Christmas. LOL There are going to be a LOT of drones in the air after Christmas!
at 120mts high and clear, it is very good to be only wifi and reach 3kms ... now you can try with reflectors! ... I am between this and a xiaomi 4k ... but phantom has more spare parts, a very big doubt, and today second hand I find the 3 standart only 100 dollars (this last one will be worth it?) thanks and good work
Had the phantom SE for about a month. In the menu settings, max distance is spelled out as 500m. Cant input higher numbers - is yours the same? Once it reaches 500m it gives me a warning. I also use the same range extender as yours.
Hello, @DroneRacer101 - I'm sorry, I know this video is four years old by the time I'm writing this. I've seen both your videos, with and without the range extender. My question is a bit off topic: In the first video we clearly can see the propellers in the recording, but in this (the second one), there is no propellers in sight. What is the difference, what is making the difference? There's still 3SE's to buy used for a reasonable price, so as a rookie, I'm in the marked for one, as the summer is knocking on the door. I do not understand. I have dji phantom 3 se and i loose signal after a few meters when drone get behind the building and when drone is about 120 metres above me. How could you loose signal after 3,5km when i cannot get good signal after 100metres?is it a setting problem? Thanks for the answer! Have a nice day!
cheers mate for the 2 range test with stock RC and with that little range extender add on, I'm new to drone and pretty much the same with you on cant comprehend buying drone over 1K$ for starter, been looking for one and came to buying the P3SE version and also bought that extra piece for range extender, ive had the drone for over a month now and haven't have time to test fly it though as work get busy, but hopefully can do it soo as I will be using the drone for when I go for my family holiday, I will be doiung the same test range as what you did just to try it out for myself with stock RC and with the piece extender,, and also considering maybe to modify the RC with the argtek antenna range extender, and see the difference, (new to youtube thing so I might also record and post it for other SE users, as theres not much vid about the SE version, thanks again
Hi, I had a question regarding video quality. I have a Phantom 3SE and when I recorded the flight the video quality was exactly what I expected crisp and extremely clean, it was exactly like all the videos I have been watching on youtube for drone footage and I was thrilled. When I put the memory card into my computer the same thing, nothing grainy or pixelated about the video, however whenever I try uploading the videos to youtube or facebook the video is pixelated, grainy, and blurry. I'm a new drone owner and want to share my experience with my friends and family and share it on my youtube channel, but I'm concerned that the videos I upload are awful even though the original footage definitely was not. I've been following your videos and found them to be extremely helpful and interesting to watch, they were especially helpful when I was first deciding on the drone best for me, so I'm hoping you can help with this question, what am I doing wrong? I thought maybe it was Windows Movie maker wasn’t editing the clips properly, but I just tried uploading a 2 minute clip to facebook and not only did it take almost an hour to complete, but the quality is awful, I know I’m doing something wrong, I’m just not sure what it is. Thanks in advance and thank you again for all your great videos!
It really depends on your needs. Taking it on a family vacation? Get a Spark. Using it for recording and quality is most important? Get the 3 SE. Or get the Mavic and have the best of both. :-)

Nice. Im looking at an older standard 3 on craigslist for 300 obo, might call and check it out. I havent even flown yet so im gonba order a furibee f3 to play around on first. Just wanna adventure w some distance and decent video and i dont wanna waste a bunch of money on toy drones to learn. Know the phantom is really stable and easy so my only concern is learning the app and updates, which I've heard are a pain? Anyway, enjoy your vids, Thx, John in Idaho
Hey bud I did a range test a couple times and the most i get is 2500m in 5.8ghz. But when I try 2.4ghz the video is to laggy. I know I can change the channels but I can't get the right one. On my spark it tells you witch ones are the strongest. Maybe you can help me out?
Hey I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the furibee gt215 fire dancer. I’m hoping you will review it soon. As far as I can tell it looks like it comes with a furibee version runcam split . That along with 2307 motors and other quality components , should make for a pretty awesome quad. I haven’t seen any UA-cam videos on it yet though .

So after i watched this video i bought phantom 3 SE with a range extender and i get signal lost att 390 M .......well maybe there is something wrong or to do with that i fly under 60 meter altitud
MrArbeter when i just bought my phantom 3 se my max range is locked to 500m. My guess is that its been factory set to default of 500m range because I was just a beginner. I mean to unlock beginner mode you have to fly it for few hours. Based on my experience. Now i can go for 3000m out.
Is there an option on the regular dji go app to record this screen (display) that you are showing here ? Instead of only recording video footage Thanks
+KevokevoMC yes. But it is far shorter than the length of the full antenna. I expected it to be closer to the tip but maybe that isn’t where it is. If it is closer to the bottom of the shaft then it would definitely need to be on the other way. Sounds like a great excuse for a video.
It will make maybe 1% of a difference if you know how parabolic reflectors work :) It's exactly the same shape except one piece of reflector is missing. If you don't believe me go study grid reflectors and how they behave with radio waves, and what do you actually lose with having almost cut off half of the surface.
Hello I got one of these for Xmas but the video feed is laggy when I get a couple hundred feet away and the will disconnect and returns to home could you give me any tips on how to fix cause I see you get 2500m away and vid is fine
That is short. Are you in an area with a lot of interference? I have nothing near me where I flew here. I don’t think a range extender will fix that. It almost sounds like an antenna is disconnected.
what do u mean by an antenna disconnected and there is fields at the back of my house with telephone wires but sureley that shouldnt affect me that much
Kane I mean inside either the quad or the radio the antenna connects to a circuit board with a connector. Probably IPEX and it kind of sounds like yours came off, which happens. Without an antenna it will probably connect but have terrible range. Have you contacted DJI?
ye i was om support with them about a half hour ago and they said sync the logs and re install which i have done but i will have to wait untill i get home from school tommrow as i live in england but do you reccomend i open the RC up? and see if they are all on

I have never heard of anyone doing that. I don’t know why it wouldn’t work. There is a FrSky patch antenna I have heard is terrible. I have this one on the way though which will screw right onto my Taranis X9D SE. bit.ly/FrSky5dB
Your english is fine. This test was done in the US. I’m not sure if the power settings are different. But in any case I would expect it to be far longer than that. I wonder if there is an antenna loose?

That is more like what I was expecting. The SE pretty much supersedes the need for the other 3 series.

My DJI Phantom SE wont go further than 300m with and without the signal booster, does someone know why

I have that windsurfer too, you have it on upside down tho lol. The notch is supposed to touch the base of the antenna

the phantom 3 SE has a lots better video quality and more flight time than the spark so, yeah i think you should buy the phantom 3 SE

Got 2 miles out of my Mi 4k the other day in my wooded area. Long range is gut wrenching. LOL. Nice flight.

Yes mine is locked to 500 meters aswell ive already flewn for a few hours but the only way to get far away is to set it to fcc mode
there is some secret to reinforce the signal wi fi ?? because I sent it 950 meters and the signal was lost
What do you have connected to your phone? I usually lose video feed on my P3se after 300-400m of distance, but controls work

The Phantom 3 SE (Special Edition) is a downgrade from the Pro. The pro can go 5km without antenna extenders. Lord knows what it would do with them.

most Dji products in europe use the CE protocol not FCC which is more powerful
