Saved me $400+ with your honest review that the highway noise is not much different! Other videos said it cut db by 20 but I was dubious…Thanks for being honest about that.
I haven't measured sound noise in my Jeep with a meter or anything, but it's quiet as hell, especially considering the 35" tires it has. I think it's quieter. It definitely helps with sound IN the cabin, same with the difference between a concert hall and an arena. There are definitely improved acoustics, my music is less echoey. I feel I got my money's worth.
I purchased the exact same thing. I had my top off and up on the roof lift system so install was simple. The only thing I noticed after install was that it made my music better. As far as I can tell, road noise the same and heat was the same.
Just installed mine last weekend. A few issues, it's sagging in the back, but overall great. Sound is definitely better, and today it was about 92 degrees out, and I went to the Jeep. It was hot inside, but not the wall of oven heat that I usually experience. Contacted Hothead about the sagging back, and they're sending new adhesive strips out, great company. And they look Great. I'm glad I spent the money. Next year, I'll replace the carpet, and use these guys' Sound Assassin underneath.
You'd think Jeep would just include their heat/sound headliner in at the factory especially since they charge so damn much ($1500) for what should be standard equipment, a hardtop.
My HotHead headliners have been in my Unlimited Jeep since 2016 Love them would recommend them for any of the Jeeps, I live in South Florida = Hot, Humid, and rains a lot. Great product still holding up fine.
I had the same in my jeep it took me 20 min to install. I got a gladiator now but getting the full liner this time, yes it was worth it i had to be in Florida and it did made the vehicle much cooler, reduced the noise significantly too, i recommend it. I only noticed audio improvement because i added a sub and upgraded the speakers.
That sweet balsa wood smell is my guess that it's made in Asia. I have no idea why but every box, etc that comes from there smells that way. I was stationed in Okinawa for 2 years and got used to it so I know the smell well when opening boxes. I don't think it's harmful in any way but it just smells for a while. If it's actually manufactured here in the USA then no clue. But that's my best guess. Thanks for the great review!
I'm making a headliner for my JT out of five-dollar, 2-foot-square interlocking EVA floor exercise mats from the budget made-in-China store. One each for each freedom panel, and the scraps from those will interlock with two more panels to cover the back. At most one more panel on each side left and right and small bits here and there. So $30 for panels, the 3M automotive mounting tape (green backing label) at another $15 brings total cost to $45 plus my time and effort. Will it be as good as this? Of course not. Will it be good enough? Well, time will tell. I expect thermally it will be similar; acoustically probably not because it's closed cell foam and I'm not covering it with any cloth, but again time will tell. It's worth it for the learning experience. I've discovered four different mounting tapes that don't hold up in the heat. Driver side was done once, passenger side four or five times now (trying different tapes I have on hand or can get conveniently "while I'm out" getting other things until I can get the right stuff I used on the driver side. Next trip to the AP store, I'll be picking up the right tape that I used on the driver's side, and after that point I'll start making the rear panels. As for road noise, you can at least mitigate some of it by adding weatherstripping to the gap between the windshield and the roll cage. Apparently a bit of wind gets moving around in there on the road, adding a discernible quantity of noise. That's my next noise mitigation project, but I haven't decided if I want to do that before or after making a mount for my 2-way radios. All DIY, of course. Just emptying every pocket doesn't go as far when they're so close to empty already. 😂
Well I wasn’t going to get it because I’m in the North east so heat isn’t a big deal plus I’m getting the auto start as I told you before. I still haven’t received mine yet, their still putting it together as I call the factory every other day lol lol but keep the videos coming. The only thing I’m not going to like is that speaker in the floor, I like my little storage with my Jeep now. Good luck & thank you again for your videos
Themaxima8777 true the speaker in the floor is a bad placement but I gotta have the better sound system haha and I know the feeling man but once it comes in it’ll be worth it! Thanks for watching!
There is a better headliner that covers the entire panels, includes gaskets and is ticker, a little harder to install but much better than the hothead it is called Coverking.
Great. Didn’t fall or make any noises or peal. Obviously when it’s that cold there’s not much they can do to help with that but help up good. Thanks for watching!
I'm thinking doing Kilmat first then one of these options over it. Boom mat is a good price but they get wrinkles and that may drive my crazy car guy mind's ocd crazy. Do you think it's better than Boom mat? I would more want them for the winters here, the cold likes to radiate down from the hard top
@@givemeaminutetothink Thanks for the input, unfortunately I never got around to doing this since my Jeep began to suffer aluminum corrosion on just about every panel. Traded it in rather than have the dealer repaint half the jeep. Was the last straw in a long line of issues.
A little. But it’s nothing game changing. But if you hoped in one drive it for 5 minutes then immediately hoped in the other you’re probably be able to tell
We did a sound check. 70 mph on highway 90 DB After installing full sound panels 70 mph on highway drop to 70 DB My neighbor works with sound. He ran the test. 20 DB drop Did one more test no tops at 70mph 102 DB I installed the Boom Mat hardtop sound deadening full panel. $249 very good stuff preclude panels
$500 ouch to be honest i think its worth diying it at that price for foam not worth it. I went through a winter and summer without and it was fine so even less reason to buy it for me at least.
I’m watching this while sitting on the toilet in my apartment in Venezuela. The internet is a wonderful thing
Very good Wrangler videos btw
Carlos de la Cabada haha isn’t it?? 😂 thanks for watching!
Haha made my day
Can you get out of Venezuela if needed? I heard NO flights?
johnafallon1 I can’t get out, commercial flights have been suspended since mid-march. The country has been on lockdown ever since

same 👍👍
1st time hearing someone use "dubious" in real life.
Good one.

I can attest it reduced the noise significantly.

Did they stay up??
@@crazybill49 They have been up with no issues since June 2016, great product.

Picked up my Jeep a couple days ago. I'm definitely ordering this headliner. Thank you for the video!
Awesome! Congrats on the new Jeep!
Thanks for watching!
100% worth it, noticeable noise and climate insulation
Thanks for honest review. Seems little high at $500.00 however seems quality. Oh and get that Jeep off the concrete 😉
Just picked up my first jeep yesterday! Thanks for the review!
Awesome man! Congrats on the new Jeep! What model did you get?
Thanks for watching!
You can reduce the wind noise a lot by putting a gasket in the panels.

07Sandia they say it’s made in the USA 🤷🏼♂️
Would like to see the end job on what the package did .you said this looked better than jeeps package but need a good finish photo .
Gotta love the Texas heat
"I live in Texas because we don't really get 20 degree weather" lol, we are now. It's 25 down here in colorado county Texas
Great video. Really appreciate your honesty. Convinced me to pass, even though I live in Las Vegas.

THANK-YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR THOUGHTS, WELL TAKEN MATE !!
How are they holding up now? You should do an update review
Thanks for the review. Look forward to receiving mine soon. 👍
They’re a lot better than the Mopar ones
Your videos are truly information rich. Much appreciated man. Great channel
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Thanks for watching
Plywood center would be my guess for smell
Nice review, also, i just noticed where you were at. Watch out for those DP cops, you know how they are. LOL
Haha so far I’ve been pretty lucky!
Thanks for watching!
How are they holding up? They fallen off still stuck good? are they waterproof ?

Are you in Pasadena texas
Great video. Thank you.
So a year later.....are you still happy with it? Have not had any issues with it falling down or anything? Great info btw!
Yep still doing great! I haven’t had any issues with it at all.
Thanks fir watching!
Will this fit 2 door jk 2013 ?
There is a better headliner that covers the entire panels, includes gaskets and is ticker, a little harder to install but much better than the hothead it is called Coverking.
Hey man, its been 2 years, hows it holding up? Did it fall off yet?
haha its still good. no issues with it at all. same for my 392 wrangler, still no issues!
Thanks for watching!
@@drivenmad2089 great, thanks :)
How did it handle after the Feb 2021 winter blast?
Great. Didn’t fall or make any noises or peal. Obviously when it’s that cold there’s not much they can do to help with that but help up good.
Thanks for watching!
My Rubicon came with it...wondered if it was worth it.
The Mopar is actually less thick then the HotHead headliner. That’s why I bought this one.
Thanks for watching!
Do you know how i can tell this thing works? because you are driving,, I can hear you clearly.

The smell is likely the velcro glue.

You're smelling all of the toxic chemicals that are in the products and the glue. Nothing good about that.
