Thanks for the video Landon and was nice to join you on your crop scouting. Really enjoying that you currently have time to produce more regular videos. Wishing you good luck at the state Convention. Thanks from Scotland.
How about naming the sweet new calf Samantha. Smart to do hands-on "crop scouting' as you do. You're so totally correct about the importance of colostrum for an animals whole life lifeell-being. I loved the short drive through the woods shots you got. Best wishes for your upcoming competition. 👍💪
Good luck in the competition, I can't wait to hear the results. And hopefully all the work will get done on the farm, without you there I don't know how that will happen but we will get the report when you return.
Great video, Landon. I think Stormy is a good name, I had a great show cow with the same name, except she was mostly black. Easier to clean, didn't stain.😂 Good luck at State Convention!
Did you say woodchuck? Your Reaction was priceless!! You’re probably either there or already back from States best of luck Landon. Love the video and the quality is amazing. Thanks!! Be safe.
There is a theory about green leafy weeds being caused by soil which is too bacterial from Nicole Masters who is a agroecologist. Her correction was to let rye or what ever cover crop used fully mature and develop a dry thatch then roll/crimp unto the soil which would bring it more neutral. If there are woody weeds like briars the soil is fungal which would need rolling/crimp a green cover material unto the soil.
We used sexed semen to get 90+% heifer calves out of the ones that conceive from those breedings. We used 2 or 3 straws, if first insemination did not take and the heifer or cow came back into estrus. After that, we would use a dose of conventional and then black angus.
If you want to farm profitably, check out regenerative ag methods. Biomimicry is explained well by Gabe Brown, Allen Williams, Ray Archuleta, Jim Gerrish, ... Understanding Ag has classes online and in person.
Check out 100,000 Beating Hearts and Will Harris. Gabe Brown is in Bismark, North Dakota-so he knows winter, similar to northern PA. Steve Kenyon is in Canada.
We sold the main milking herd. We are keeping some of the better and older cows for showing and the younger cows we sell monthly as they have their first calf.
