- Hey everyone! I am canceling all streaming services for the summer! Limiting screen time and implementing a structured quiet time for my 7 year old this summer. I am sharing this journey as we go...as nervous as I am lol with no more tv, I am excited. This summer I plan to share more on how I am balancing being a single mother, working from home and spending quality time with my little girl. Here are my quiet time ideas for older kids.

Girl!! I have been trying to do the same thing with the screen time! I loved this video. As a single stay at home mom, I understand completely 😊 balancing that time can be tricky! We love our library as well❤ they always have activities for the kids!
100%. I cut back about a year ago, my daughter only gets 1 hour per day. She’s actually fine without and really doesn’t ask about TV, unless my mom is here and mentions a show
I love how you are doing this. So so important. I love how in general you treat her as her age and not older. My daughter is the same age and so many people especially on UA-cam treat their 7 year olds like they are so much older so it’s hard to relate. You’re doing an amazing job😊

Love these ideas! I have been letting my 5 yr old son have waay too much screentime, so these ideas have really helped me to cut that back without him having a complete meltdown. One thing about painting the rocks for your neighbors garden, make sure Sydney does not use washable paints lol. This probably seems like a no brainer to most people, but my son painted some really nice looking rocks for our garden and I did not think about the paint washing off when I water my plants or in the rain.

I crave simpler times! we live in the country and enjoy being outdoors, picking wild black berries, Riding dirtbikes, fourwheelers, opening our windows, going to Church, parks, etc. We do choose to have screen time but i am definitely 💯 percent for a simpler life. I love the slow living! We live about 30 minutes from the nearest walmart, if that gives you an idea. on the other hand dollar generals are everywhere 🤣🤣

My 5 and 2 year olds have never had tablets. I know they’d become addicted and it would be a constant fight.
Good idea!!! We use ours for travel & that’s about it these days
Great ideas as always Hayley! I feel like libraries are starting to get so much more love these days. Our library system put on a demonstration with small reptiles. Kids got to pet them and learn about conservation efforts. 3 free times for the shows and tickets were gone in 5 minutes 😅 libraries rule!
Ahh Sydney would have absolutely loved that! I think libraries offer so many amazing activities for kids so I’m glad they are getting more recognition now 🙌
Growing up, my siblings and I were not allowed tv during the week. We were allowed some on Saturday mornings (cartoons). We played outside most of the time.
Days we can’t be outside are my least favorite haha
Good job mom. At that age they will lose all the school work lol. I work at home and my daughter will be going to summer camp,so no need for the tablet. Keep up the good work; as always love your channel. Till next time!

Yes! My kids get sooooo cranky the more screen time they have. It’s like they can’t regulate and function. I try to limit it to basically if I need to squeeze in a shower or something. Besides movie nights and need to situations I try hard! I will say, I find myself slipping in and out of sticking to it and then leaning to hard back into it until I’m fed up again 😂
I am just like you!!! It’s been “hard” to limit that’s why I’m just canceling it altogether 😆 I want to go back to simpler times like when she was a toddler & didn’t watch tv. Although I know there will be hard days when I want a moment 😭😬 I’m hopeful

Does that also mean you won’t be watching any tv or anything like that either? I feel like that’s where I struggle if I do limited screen time for my toddler then I limit my own or cut back because I’m like well if she sees me seeing something it’s kind of like pointless for me anyways. And then she’ll ask me to watch it since I’m watching it which is why I limit it or wait until she’s sleeping. But let’s be real I’m so tired I end up sleeping immediately after lol
Yes! I actually rarely watch anything these days besides on UA-cam or a quick show at bed but I fall asleep after 10 minutes anyway 😅 I never watch tv during the day so nothing changes for me in that regard. I want to be more present & bond like we did when she was younger 🥰 I’ll be up late getting work done so I have more time throughout the day.
