      Game changing innovations I can think of right of the bat.
      Internet
      GPS
      Photoshop
      MP3
      3D printing
      Smartphone
      WiFi
      Flatscreen
      Netflix
      eBook Reader
      Ancestry DNA
      (Military) Drones
      Google Search
      There may even be more. And of course the importance of some could be argued. But still. Looking back at the last 20 years there were many mindblowing innovations. Just because people got used to them so fast and easy doesn't mean they weren't game changing.
      Maybe what you mean't was that a niche thing got an innovation from a simple man in his homeshed that would have revolutionized everything 800 years ago. Ya I go for it.
      Instant Legolas is brilliant. I don't wanna downplay Jörgs innovation. But to say that we rarely see game changing innovations is absolutely wrong in my book. You just got used to them very fast.

    I just love that you made it the instant legolas public domain!
    It just gives other creative people the opportunity to build up on your concept.
    The last revolutionary thing in archery (at least from what heard of) was the reverse draw crossbow. But that pattent is so heavily protected by it's owners that it's pretty much a dead project because they themselves made maybe 3 models and nobody else is allowed to even remotely use the design.

    • @imvisier9925
      @imvisier9925 2 роки тому

      Making the design public domain serves no purpose other than to give a chance to every grifter to copy and try to undersell the original designer. Really a very myopic business decision on Joerg's part. Patenting a concept only protects it for commercial purposes, and only within the bounds to which it is presented, so therefore nothing would stop anyone making their own, or making a free to download copy, nor would it stop anyone building on it with novel features, and selling improvements either, were a patent for the device to be in place. In fact, were it to be in place, Joerg could even allow others to use the design commercially after vetting, while still retaining the right to protect against grifters.

    • @bookofrevelation4924

      Perhaps the magnet mentioned holds the ball and string together until string stops and breaks the magnetic attraction?

    • @onbedoeldekut1515
      @onbedoeldekut1515 2 роки тому +2

      I'd wrap that section of the string with a wire and attach a weak magnet to it somewhere safe, it's work like picking up a chain of paperclips.
      It only needs a small magnetic force.

    • @bookofrevelation4924

      @@onbedoeldekut1515 great idea. I thought about a wire somehow inside the string like the gold thread woven into the High Priest's clothing in the Bible to be conductive, then magnetize the metal thread like a magnetic screwdriver. Just rubbing the metal against a magnet during operation might keep a wire magnetized.

    • @dylanzrim3635
      @dylanzrim3635 2 роки тому +4

      Yeah, but who says it’s for backyard shooting? Steel BB are required in most hunting areas around the world from firearms, if that area is near drinking water, so it stands to reason that a lead ball would be a poor business decision.

    • @schwuzi
      @schwuzi 2 роки тому +3

      @ren bao When the projectile bounces off the target and flies in other directions. Lead projectiles deform and lose most of their energy so they just fall down after hitting the target. Steel balls, especially bearing balls are much harder and more elastic and will have more energy left after impact.

      @@bookofrevelation4924 I'm sure there are some steel balls out there with a rubber coating but to be honest the ricocheting doesn't really matter most of the time. If you're shooting that close to a neighbour's property in the UK, you're likely to get a swift visit from a police firearms unit. They do not take kindly to bows being fired in gardens near to other people, and treat use of such weapons the same as firearms. You are very likely to end up in court on a firearms charge for endangering the life of others. Just don't even think about it, unless you have a garden the size of Jourg's.

    Come to think of it, maybe they make something similar for paintball guns. Those ball bearings look about the same size as typical paintballs.

    I managed to get an improved version, with the front handle, over 10 steel ball capacity, and under 100 euros. No washer needed, new flexible/adjustable mount, even installable on a cheap recurve/longbow. Can be installed on most non-compound bows.

    Would have liked a look at that bucket target, and the dog food can. Great shooting!

    Need to show the dog in more videos. He eats the food from the cans, he deserves some credit.

    Could the rail be grooved, like rifling? Something to start a spin

    In your hands this device is very accurate. Quite a bit better accuracy than I anticipated and it was reproducible.
    I understand you released your design into the wild but I think it would have been considerate of someone at the manufacturer to have at some point sent you a finished one gratis.
    That is just my opinion though. I think designers and inventors are not as highly valued as they should be. Overall I think they should be proud of taking your work design and puzzling out the bugs and being able to deliver a finished product that functions this well. Reasonably priced as well.
    KUDOS all around!

    Herr Sprave. Sie sind für mich und mein Sicherheitsbedürfnis, mit ihrem Vertrieb, derzeit wertvoller als 10politiker im Bundestag. Das muss mal gesagt werden! Dankeschön.

      Das ist aber nicht schwer, weil Politiker im Bundestag in diesen Tagen negativ für unser Sicherheitsbedürfnis sind.

    It also possible to expand the mag size? When I asked myself that.. assumption of not possible due to ball baring lock mechanism (spring) would be compromised.
