Installing an overhead sprinkler system, and very loud smoke alarm combined with emergency doors installed on the exterior of each stall would drastically reduce the losses.

Fire proof walls and horse blankets could also be an option Suggestion; store all hay in a separate building away from all other buildings until needed...

This was a very informative presentation. I don't have horse's or a barn but none the less I learned things about barn fires I never knew about like how long it takes for a barn to burn etc. what a terrible thing for someone to experience experience 😢. Losing barn and livestock, heartbreaking.

I live in rural British Columbia
We have a high risk of forest fires every year
A good idea is to take a marker pen and write your name and phone contact number on horses front hooves
Typically we have race tracks or fair grounds a a staging area
In 2019 my neighbours horse was picked up by rescuers from the pasture she was boarded at
No body knew who owned her
I saw her when I intaked my horses
    Her owner was contacted
So that is why phone numbers count
Typical to spray paint numbers as well

Why cant barns have automatic ceiling sprinklers installed?

    • @jillsivertsen6404
      @jillsivertsen6404 17 днів тому +4

I know if you live in the north they can freeze in the winter but maybe there is a way to protect the pipes. And possible dust issues maybe talking to companies that sell sprinkler systems or someone at the fire dept could be helpful.

Sorry if I had to wait for the fire dept in rural areas the barn would be nothing but ash by the time they come on scene. I am not waiting!

The priority has to be saving horses and running the facility.

      They Are busy????
They do the business. The plan. The show. Priority is not „love to…..entertain youuuuu“ like Robbie Williams.
There is going on the big event of the year in presentation, Organisation etc. BESIDE the daily work.
We are visitors. We wait. Be thankful they „are“ and „do“ on horse rescue.
      This is not for clicks.
      It is for saving lives.
      Relax 🙏
9 thumbs up right now for your question??? What’s going on with you guys😮

Well truth be told. They all earn money from there "donations". Pay their mortgage , truck and trailer loans. And themselves. It's not just for rescuing horses.

@ If you’re speaking about salaries, the staff is indeed paid….but not as much as you seem to think. It is all a matter of public record.
