I completely agree, thank you so much for being so clear about it. I have done common-placing for years just didn’t know what it was called. You explained the dot system very clearly, thank you. I use Zig Clean Color Dot pens in my planner and now I have a use for soothe colors I don’t tend to use. Thanks again
I recently fell down the rabbit hole of common placing and I love it ! I always did something similar but having a name to it and now having a proper system makes it’s so much better
Exactly! I feel like the practice of common placing is ancient and in our DNA. We all do it in some form or another. But it really is refreshing to have a name for it.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Echoing having watched several other videos on commonplace books and it just seemed overwhelming. I love the dots system. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for watching my videos. It really means so much! And I am always aiming for simplicity in every part of my life (it's an ongoing practice) so you can expect that from my videos.
Came for the lovely aesthetic thumbnail and notebook content, subscribed for your wonderful personality! You sound like such a genuine and interesting person ☺ thanks for sharing about your system, it's fascinating! When you said 'I USE my notebooks' I felt a lot of guilt about the pile on my shelf... haha 😅
YAY! I am so glad you're here! Thank you for watching and subscribing. It means so much! And trust me I have LOTS of notebooks that are collecting dust but slowly but surely I am finding uses for them. I won't ever stop buying notebooks. Just bought 4 today from the Dollar Tree (I will use them for my morning pages, a practice I want to revisit).
I started doing this in college in the early 70s. I used to tell my family that if the house caught fire, grab mom’s book and run. Everything was in there.
First time viewer here. I had a thought about color coding - if you don’t have stickers, you could use colored pencils or pens. I even have one of those pens with four different colors of ink in it 😂
The color coding idea is really cool. I used to try having a common place notebook but there's just so many things bunched up in one notebook that it becomes unorganized. I'll definitely use color coding next time.
Yep now that I color code, I am so happy to return to my notebooks and review things. Let me know how you like it. And you can totally use markers or highlighters instead of sticky dots!
I’ve been common placing for decades and didn’t even know it 😂. BTW, absolutely love your videos. I don’t comment much because I watch on TV, but I always hit that like! I’m on a FIRE journey as well! Your videos are so helpful! Thanks for sharing!
I figure there were more folks like us, doing brilliant things without even knowing 😂 and yay for being on your FI journey. How’s it going? I’m still finding my way and balancing my expensive habits (traveling, stationery and now fountain pens LOL) but I am happy to be on the journey nonetheless. Thanks for watching and liking my videos. I appreciate it so much!
@@iamcheryl3095 Yes I totally understand. I was literally just thinking about the slowness of it all. Another reason to live well while working toward FI. Experience what ever little joys you can along the journey!
Thank you for sharing all these great notebook/journal ideas! I love to journal and have done so for many years, but I want to have more organization in the journals, and I really like your color coding idea. I may have to try that.
Thanks for watching. And I feel the same way about my journals. This color dot system has helped me show up to all my notebooks more. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.
I don't have a commonplace system. I have it all on digital form. However, as a tactical person, I definitely like the paper system much better than the digital form. Unfortunately, having commonplace notebook in the paper version, I was afraid that all my information will get lost and I wouldn't be able to find what I need. Your system with the color coding is such a great idea. Thank you for sharing this.
I totally get the fear of losing things when you go analog. I think about this too. My only solace is that we were once all analog and we managed, and anything that I lose, well it was time for me to let it go 🧡
I’m realising that I basically use my iPhone notes app for commonplacing, but I’d rather do it physically / on paper. This video was really helpful thank you :D
I still keep lots of notes in my notes app especially links that I need to click on later. I am slowing moving some of those notes into folders and then into my common place notebooks. So a hybrid model for common placing is totally fine. 🧡
Ive been doing this for years. I found out a couple of years ago that it is called a common place notebook but this has been my thing since I was probably in middle school. Im 42 lol
Sure thing. It’s the MD Goat Leather Cover from Jetpens.com. I have all three MD covers (A5, b6 slim, and a6). They also make the plastic clear covers for these MD notebooks as well.
Re: philosophy. I just finished The Consolation of Philosophy by Boethius. It was a difficult read, but you are younger than me so maybe you would have an easier time. 😬
Thank you so much for watching! I love this Pen just posted the link in the description. It is a Uni Ball P .38 in pink (I also have one in coffee). This pen takes refills so you can enjoy it for a long long time! The cover is Chic Sparrow Giovanni Artist Pocket I believe. I bought it preloved from the Chic Sparrow Buy Sell Trade Facebook Group.
That is so kind of you. I LOVE stationery so much. THANK YOU. Here is my happy mail address: Christa David Studio 3645 Marketplace Blvd #130-644 East Point, GA 30344
Do you play a percussion instrument? I only ask because you keep tapping the table as you talk. I admit I am not really into asmr so I find it very distracting.

I have watched some commonplace notebook videos and yours was the easiest to follow and understand, thank you so much for that! Love from Brazil 🇧🇷

It really makes total sense to have an everything notebook. It's like we all know this innately. And yes, I would grab mine as well.
First time viewer here. I had a thought about color coding - if you don’t have stickers, you could use colored pencils or pens. I even have one of those pens with four different colors of ink in it 😂
Yes! Exactly. Pens and highlighters will work perfectly! Use what you have 🙌🏾 thanks for viewing the video!

Love this video…your voice, your asides, the dot organization, the notebooks, the pacing.
Thank you so much for tuning in. I could talk about notebooks and pens all day. LOL.
I definitely take the color dot system with me, thanks Christa 🙏🏽
Glad it’s helpful. Thanks for watching!

Glad it was helpful. Same, I am a new fountain pen collector and all I want to do is write things down in my many many notebooks.

I love your comment about scripture reading and the revelation “and this is why you need systems”. 😂 God is good.
Ain’t He tho! 🙌🏾😂

That's so dope! What types of notebooks are you using?
Can you share what cover you have for your journal (the md notebook)?
Sure thing. It’s the MD Goat Leather Cover from Jetpens.com. I have all three MD covers (A5, b6 slim, and a6). They also make the plastic clear covers for these MD notebooks as well.

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I will check it out and report back.
Great video. I just a couple questions. In this video what pen is that on the table and what cover was that for the Molskine notebooks?

@@christadavidart thank you for the info.
Where did you get your pink journal cover and MD notebook. Can you tell me the name and brand?
Hi. It’s the Midori Goat Leather cover in A5 size. The cover comes in B6 slim and A6 as well.
Where is your mug from?
Hello. The mug is from Target. The Magnolia Hearth and Home collection. I got them a year ago.
What link youtuber essie please
Hello, I am not sure what you are asking. I’m happy to share links, but please clarify. Thanks!
Do you really enjoy stationery? I’m looking to give some away that I’m not using.🙃

Nope I don’t play percussion. I am just excited about my notebooks and planners and sharing that excitement.
OMG YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE ! 🟢
