It has been 9 months since I first got my hands on the Dyson Airwrap. Since then, I've had a lot of time to play with this expensive hair tool and learned what I loved about it and everything I hated about it!
I wanted to make this video to update you guys on my feeling for the Dyson Airwrap now that the hype has died down. I am breaking down everything I've noticed with this hair tool, from what it does well to some of its flaws.

One way to justify the price for the Airwrap: A typical blow out in my city costs $55 incudling tip. If you visit 11 times, that's the cost of the Dyson with tax.
You can get a blow dry brush under 100$.

I really like your critical feedback with suggestions for improvement. I hope Dyson sees this and takes your points into consideration because my expectations are always in proportion with the price point as well.
Thank you again for a phenomenally honest review. The pos and cons you discussed are things that I had questions about as well as those that I hadn't even considered. And, I loved that Ms. Pham actually shelled out her own money for this item and didn't get it from Dyson or any other source, which gives me more confidence that her reviews are honest and unbiased. [PS: Unlike Ms. Pham's gorgeously healthy hair, I have long, prematurely gray hair that is dry and coarse, so many of the comments she has shared - ie, the length of time it takes to curl using the tools, etc. - I can absolutely take to heart]. Hi Quynh. I recently found your videos because I am planning on saving up to get the Dyson airwrap for Christmas and I have to say there are many reviews out there and comparisons to other products but your whole series are the best. Always very informative. I don't know if you saw, but Dyson now has longer barrels to attach to the airwrap. Maybe that would make you use more. If you do get them please make a video using it! i have super thick frizzy curly hair. this dyson air wrap has been my life. i know people can have opinions but it takes me 40 minutes to dry and curl my hair with it. with a normal blow dryer and curler it usually took be 2 hrs. soooo i love the dyson. also i did not pay $550 on it. i won it in a contest.

Any tips you can share? I have thick, frizzly and wavy hair, and it really doesn't work for me. With the dyson my hair is frizzly again after 1 hour...

Thank you for this review! I have been watching alot of them but was still confused if i should get this set or the regular dryer. Because of your review I got some closure and have decided that i just get the hairdryer because that is what i use the most. I can just use a round brush with it if I have to instead. I have a straighter and a curler for special occasion so I feel like its good enough for me XD
I still want the round brush, the soft style brush and the 1.2" wrap wands. I really wish Dyson would split the set into a long hair kit and medium hair kit.
They have a customized kit! You just have to take a short quiz and they will built a set for you 🙂

I love mine as I got the one with long barrels it’s perfect for my hair length. Also it makes my hair so so shiny 😍 and doesn’t really damage I loveee it. Worth every penny
I used the soft smooth and with the highest fan setting, and it made my hair frizzy, and it was hard to get my end straight. So now I use the lowest fan setting whenever I want a straight blowout. And the result is fantastic. It makes my hair smooth and shiny

I just almost bought it, and your review shared some key points that helped me see that I'd likely not use it very often and this would be a huge waste of money for now. She is always in a rush and doing things on a "just in time" basis so really appreciate the feedback about the time it takes to curl the hair. finally an honest review! thank you, I have the airwrap with the long barrels and it is the best purchase i have ever made, tried the revlon brush and it damaged my hair and broke in 6 months, I use the long barrels only to slighlty curl my ends so it doesn't take much time,

Thanks for your honest opinion. VERY expensive and totally not for everyone. I have shorter, wavy frizzy hair and Ive noticed positives and negatives. Still learning. Some days I LOVE it and others not so much. I have used the longer barrels on my sister with smoother longer hair and her hair was fabulously wavy for DAYS!!

I reallly appreciate your review. I too have had mine for over a year and agree with you 100%! I too only use the firm flat brush because I'm not into the curl look. Thanks for sharing your experience on using the curling attachments. Probably wouldn't work too good on me 'cause I too have thick hair. Dyson should pay you for your redesign suggestions!
Thanks for this great review! A lot of the things you said about the curling barrels are so true (I owned the complete set for 7 months then gave it away). It took soooo long to curl my hair with the airwrap that I ended up going back to my curling iron. It's nice to hear from an asian person with long hair that I can relate to! :) I love the dyson supersonic blowdryer and think that's worth every penny. I bought one for my sister and one for myself.
I completely agree. I bought into the hype but I found myself never using it due to the length of time it takes to use. I gave it to my daughter for her birthday and she loves it but let’s see how she feels 9 months down the road. Such a bummer.

Completely agree with the majority of your feedback. I got the Dyson airwrap as a gift, and although I do love it, and use it every time I shower, I would be very upset to have paid so much for it myself. The selling feature of the AirWrap barrels themselves fell short with what's to be expected from a very expensive tool. I have shorter hair, and it still takes a good hour to curl using the barrels, and I'm not in love with the messier end product (as opposed to using a curling iron that results in pristine curls.) I do love the barrel brush tool and that's usually my go-to. I found the pre-styling tool to be more powerful than I expected so I use that as a regular hair dryer. No huge complaints, I was just disappointed with the airwrap barrels and for that price, I can't justify it.

I bought this as a Xmas present for myself in 2019. It is the best buy of my life! I get compliments on my bouncy curls all the time and l have long straightened coarse thick hair! I curl my hair before going to bed and the curls last all thru the next day. It takes me 10 mins to dry my hair and 10 mins to curl using the big barrels. I dun bother sectioning my hair. I just grab a bit n curl it for 5 to. 10 sec. Love, love, love it!

Hi. I just got one a couple days from my parents. My stylist just got one and his wife is the one who technically has it but because of this COVID only a few can be in the salon so they had a break and she used it on me. I have pretty thin and now my hair is not quite to my shoulders. She just curled it in no time. I’m wondering if my hair was still wet. I’m not having much luck on my own but I washed my hair and it was already dry. Is that a problem. Do I have to wet my hair? Thanks for the video. The video Dyson gives doesn’t help at all. I knew there would be much more on here. Nikki.

Thank you for your honest and thorough review. I have used my Dyson Airwrap for approximately 10 months and am in love with it! I style my hair with the curl wand maybe twice a week and the style lasts between styling! I receive compliments about my style all the time! I get it may not be for everyone ❤️.

Thank you for making this video. I just bought a Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer for myself and have been debating in my head if I should've bought the Dyson Airwrap instead. But same sentiments as you, I also think that the curler is such a hassle to use compared to a normal hair curler - the switching of rods for different curl directions is the major turnoff for me. I also felt that I will be only using one attachment which is the brush. Glad I watched your video. If I were to own Dyson hair tools, I will definitely go for Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer and Dyson Coralle. I feel like both tools are able to address precise hair concerns. Also, you can use the Corrale to curl your hair.

Thank you so much for your honest review of the Dyson hair wrap! As someone who also has very long thick black hair you answered a lot of my questions. I think if I had this I'd probably only use the firm smoothing brush. Then I'd find it annoying that the firm smoothing brush didnt style my dry and frizzy ends as they need all the help they can get! Do you have a hair tool you'd recommend that has the same effect as the Dyson firm smoothing brush (that isn't 550 doll hairs?)?

Hi great honest review. I personally have the dyson and is fabulous, nothing comprares to it . And yes is expensive but it saves your hair from so much damage. Not one single hair was on the brushes that I used . Just see how many hair are in the brushes of all those styleing gadgets . Buy kuz you will no regret it once you get the hang of it .

I find the regular dyson hairdryer too LOUD next to my ear, despite it being advertised as being quiet! The smaller one in the kit is ideal for me. I love the fact that the barrel goes close to the scalp without tangling in the clip. For airwrap curls: I heat and then COOL shot the curl. I find the curl won't stay if the cool air shot isn't used to SET the curl. I love the shine of my hair and the safety for my scalp.

As for the noise, you could use earplugs, or noise canceling earbuds. I use the latter when doing my hair, and listen to music :-)
Hi Quynh, Try the R&Co Park Avenue Blow Out Balm. I think it's better than the Ouai wave spray.
I love the Aquis hair turban as I don't need to rough dry before I curl. Your right there are flaws and for that money it needs to be perfect. However, I love the curls I get from the Airwrap better than I would having my hairdresser curl it. I can get more volume.
I think Dyson could have started out small and had the curler with the hairdryer attachment to keep the cost lower. Shelley x

I think it would have been a good idea to make it like half the price it is and let people choose what they want. So like you only really use the firm smoothing brush and not the curlers so having that and the drying attachment. Or someone only uses the small curlers so they only get those with the dryer. Same with the bigger ones and the volumizing brush.
Thank you for your honesty! I’m on the fence, because I have medium thickness hair but not a ton of hair, my hair is shoulder length, and I’m worried about my revlon pulling out so much of my hair. I also worry about damaging heat. I also hate curling wands. Wish it was like 200 bucks. Argh
Maybe with Black Friday it’ll be cheaper, probably not 200 but still better than 500
I love this thing but I value not damaging my hair and can stand taking 45 mins to curl my hair in order to have good style for 3-4 days. Also, the firm smoothing brush is my replacement for drying my hair. It's amazing and I love it soooo much. I also can do a fast style with the larger barrels if need be. Was worth it for me as I use it every time I wash my hair.

I love my dyson airwrap! I have long hair 70cm. I always had straigt hair. But I love to "curl" it now or blow out effect.
do the curls stay in? with my hair type, i am always skeptical because once i got a perm (from a korean hairdresser my fd recommended, because hers lasted for 6mo and i am half asian so i thought maybe it would work better for my hair type) and it fell out within a couple of days. i waited a good week before washing my hair after the perm but by that stage it was already gone. so a few days after my fd took me back and the hairdresser agreed to do the perm again for free. but as far as i could tell he didn't change anything about his procedure apart from using smaller rollers for a tighter curl, so of course it just fell out again. i was shocked, i thought professionals would be a bit more adept. so i lost time, money, and sustained damage to my hair from having two perms in two weeks. it smelled for months afterwards of the perm chemicals every time i washed it. has anyone else ever had this happen, what causes it and what is the solution? my cousin has also curled my hair with heat before but the curls fell out within a couple of hours. the only time i have managed to get curls which last a few days is from braiding my hair whilst it's damp. so the only thing that worked was the method which was £0.

I've had mine for a while now but still prefer a separate brush and hair dryer to smooth and then just whip through the ends with the longer barrels
I just bought the Dyson Airwrap 3 days ago and already it is AMAZING!. Using this tool successfully is all about technique (the way you use it).
Regarding the firm paddle brush, which is fab: If you hold your ends as you're pulling the brush down and keep holding on until the bristles of the brush reaches and slowly glide the brush through your ends, they will be as smooth as the rest of your hair.
Regarding the barrell being short: If you start at the end of your sectioned hair by letting it wrap and work your way up to the root a few seconds at a time, you will be giving your hair equal drying time and thst curl will form beautifully.
It's all about technique.😉
