@@FinestSelecta might do a stream on that at some point - it's got a bit more swing to and the bongos make it quite hard to deal with in the same way as you can the think. Each break is a different beast really!
@@HumanSynthetics yes that little jam at the end definitely hit the spot mate. Love chopping breaks like this, I am interested to see how you go about layering breaks. Maybe you have covered this in a stream already. I’m still catching up.
@@oferoner321 Cheers Jacob! I'd say my main approach for layering breaks is usually just trial and error, put them together and see if they work. I usually let the sounds guide me, as in some breaks go together better than others, like the amen and the thinks, or hot pants. Usually a bit of EQ on the less prominent break does the trick. Sometimes I try and chop them sympathetically against one and another, so there's some sort of call and response going on. Experimentation and noting the results, that's often the best approach. Let me know how you get on. Cheers
Question about the video. At the very start of the video you already had the 4 breaks and tamo loop already cut out of the Lyn Collins tune and in a single bar size. I sampled the Lyn Collins tune and cut out the 4 breaks and tambo loop. The second break does not even seem to be a single bar, when I cut it, it end up being slightly less than a bar loop. I must be missing a step. Is there a way you can make the audio just fit into a bar loop although it is just slightly too small? I have been stuck on this step for hours. When I slice the audio to midi it isnt a full loop.
Already figured it out! Once this session is done I'm joining the Patreon. Diving through your videos now and will share your channel in some Discords. You deserve far more views.
Thank you so much for the lovely comments and sentiments. Means a huge deal. I think the main thing when sampling these breaks from original records is working at the tempo of the song before you speed it up. But glad you managed to work it out. I wouldve demo'd exactly how to do it, but didnt want a copyright strike. I've though about ways round this since and will definitely dive into it again, most likely with the classic funk breaks or similar. Cheers again!
As far as I am concerned, you are to Don of breaks. Complete mastery. 🙏🙏🙏
Too kind man! Too kind. But really appreciate your support! 'Practise and all is coming'.
