"Mood Version" (Mark Ayres) - arranged for the 1988 DWAS convention Doctor Who: Variations on a Theme is a collection of four wildly differing interpretations of Ron Grainer's Doctor Who theme by three of the series' late-80s staff composers: Mark Ayres, Keff McCulloch and Dominic Glynn. Three of the versions were composed for various Doctor Who Appreciation Society conventions in the late 1980s, while the fourth was arranged specifically for the release.
The initial album (or EP) was issued in 1989 by Metro Music International, and was initially available widely as a 12-inch vinyl single. A CD issue was also produced, as was an unusual square-shaped CD that reportedly would not play correctly on most players at the time; this latter version is now considered a collectable. In 1991, Silva Screen Records, as part of its licence to reissue Doctor Who-related music, reissued the collection on CD. Later, one of the tracks from this album - the Terror Version - was included on the Silva Screen compilation CD The Worlds of Doctor Who." - tardis.wikia.co...
The V A P O R W A V E Doctor theme
This and Glynn's Terror theme are the best remixes for this
@all13Doctors I agree absolutely and was rather shocked that this song was just an obscure release that went unheard for so long by many fans. Glad you enjoy it too!
major Paradise Towers vibes
I like this arrangement.
A special thanks to all the UA-cam viewers in the many countries. In 1989, I traded a LOT of Legos to a friend for this CD because he bought it at our Dr. Who fanclub in Delmar Delaware for $20. I played it over and over again, even though it was sun-bleached. My greatest fear was that the CD would no longer play and the songs would be lost forever, so I uploaded it to UA-cam. When it said 'share?', I thought 'why not?' It lives on through digital and couldn't be more grateful. Blessing to all who feel as strongly about the tunes as I, and may such a great work of entertainment live on.
saint4God haha thanks for that, that’s amazing!
I shall have to seek, locate my cd.
@1984kid1 You're welcome! I wish there was a way to purchase the song for folks to download, but being that I couldn't find any, I figured better for it to be at least heard than to vanish unheard. My 12 year old CD is sun-bleached and worn so I also didn't want to lose it entirely

Magnífico!
Why isn't this album available on Amazon Music Unlimited?
What kind of mood, exactly?
I still have the compilation of these variations. Like I'd ever part with them.
My Dad bought me this at a Dr Who convention on my 10th birthday. Takes me back to my old bedroom...
My friend Elaine sent me a tape message with this album on it, so glad it's on youtube.
The unique middle eight arrangement is what makes this. Very nostalgic as it coincided with the end of the original run.
Sound so elegant
Lovely. Almost sounds like Vangelis.
Happy to hear the song is to your liking also! Feel free to look around the channel to see if there's anything else of interest as well.
This is the cannabis doctor who theme lol !
Dude just no
