- Moped overlanding? Is that even a thing!? It is now! In this third and final episode of the Expedition Scoot series, the scooters go off-road; trail bike style for a 2 night weekend trip in some of Perth's worst weather this year!

I don't even know where to start there was so much awesomeness in this video. The bikes were great, loved the hot tub, riding footage was fun to watch, I would definitely watch another scoot trip video.

@@Alex.G Well, you tried then. I still enjoyed the video very much. I am 72 and I have been thinking about getting a small scooter and doing the Arkansas and Oklahoma portions of the TAT on it.
You guys drive your scooters like you think they are dirt bikes, If you don't take care of your scooters they won't last long... This is why you keep having tech problems.. Drive safe

Tyres... tyres... tyres. You hear such a lot about how important tyres are for off roading, yet even the dirt bike had road tyres on. Good fun vid and expedition. Would love to see another with the scoots with a serious(ish) nod to what was learned on this trip. Oh and a tip here from this seasoned biker, keep your CoG down low for stability.

awesome. I do have quite a lot of 50ccm experience myself with an GDR Model called Simson S51. I even was camping and did some "adventuring" with it ... But holy mother of XXX did you guys push your luck riding these slippery bush trails on full throttle with effective no breaking. Sure the perspective on the helm mounted GoPro will cause some irritation to me.
For the Scooters. I would have striped them as far as possible. Plastic will never keep up with the forces you are facing. The stabilizer with the gas tank where an awesome idea. This is a keeper for me. and for fun trips I would detach the ammo bins. But overall awesome (I thid i did mention that already ;) )

I plan to get a 50cc next year and take up camping here in Quebec. Well played get drunk before bed! OMF-how could you forget coffee! Camp stove and espresso percolator! 2 cups every morning before anything else! I always forget shit tickets, tobacco grows in the ditch from coast to coast, big fuzzy leaves-only thing it's good for is wiping ass.

+Intents Offroad we did this in winter in germany at a little lake that even had ice on it. We´ve used an old central heating radiator that we chucked into the fire pit and pumped the water through. Was enough to heat up a pool that fits 10 people.

Enjoyed the series ... the whining scooter motors not so much, but what can you do, eh? Give you a lot of credit for your efforts in rebuilding the scoots and for flogging your way through the ride in those conditions.

funny because iv been looking for a video like this for a while, for example making the scooters more weather friendly , but you went offroad friendly, would be good to see you go over the scooters in detail n maybe making them more weather friendly too. i liked the idea of putting bars down the side of your engine case, was hoping too see the outcome... hands down is in the top 5 vids iv seen on youtube hope too see more

There was a fair bit on mine and I actually tried making them into knobblies with an angle grinder lol! It was a little too smokey..
I always loved how easy a scooter was to fix, on the side of the road with a small handful of tools you can pretty much completely tera down and rebuild one of these cheap China scoots

I think having a vehicle that is too competent off road ruins the adventure! On the scoot, an ordinary hill becomes a challenge! And they're cheap so everyone can have a go!

+100% Mostly Authentic I totally agree with you there! Something I've been quite enjoying lately is owning horrifically incapable vehicles that really require a lot of thought to get through obstacles. Yeah we had Jake wanting to step down into a scooter as well. It's such stupid fun!

Yeah 2 stroke. And cos we messed around with bigger cylinders and the air intakes we struggled to get the air and fuel mixture right. There notoriously fussy 😐

Good to see you back on the road! I had a scooter myself and tore the shit out of it! Loved every second. Now i upgraded to a Nissan Navara D22. Does the job but my Scooter always has a special place in my heart. Thats where the real fun happened and if anything went wrong its not that much of a major and cost efficient ;)

Yeah some of my ideas are a struggle to grasp haha, but they always turn out okay in the end! We must think of ways to increase the luxury of the glampers on the second expedition I think!
