A documentary like this is absolutely needed for Irish football. The FAI do nothing to promote the league and the Irish media aren't interested in showing let's be honest average football. It absolutely sickens me seeing half the town of Derry wearing Man U and Liverpool shirts on a Saturday in a pub, when they could've been to a live game the night before. I know loads of Irish people watch Copa 90, and if watching that doc. doesnt convince them local football is the way forward, then i dont know what will.
What's it got to do with the FAI? The LOI should be promoting itself. There should be a transfer of power from the FAI to the LOI, starting with the clubs being able to negotiate their own TV deal.
loved our time in Dublin. we've been wanting to cover an Irish game for a while, but this came to our attention from one of your comments. So keep letting us know where you want to see us next!
Knew it would be unique but didn't think this match would put on some of the scenes it did. Full credit to all the football fans in Ireland who despite all the other sports on offer, and bigger football codes across the border, do the right thing by the game and support the local scene. The more that Irish football fans turn out and support the League Of Ireland, the more money the league will have to buy better players and facilities which will mean better football and more fans, and so the Cycle will log on. Furthermore the celebration I saw Boh's fans enjoy were as good as anything Ive seen with Copa90 at the Camp Nou, Bernabeu, Anfield or San Siro. Cause its not about the size of the crowd, its about the type of fans in it. The ones on the terraces in Dalymount are definitely it. Well done, and be proud of the effort you put in supporting local team, you may not be in the Premier League but you really impressed Copa90 and I.
It's a shame that so many Irish people choose to "support" Liverpool, Man U, etc. Irish football could be much more than it is. Just watching this, the passion is clear. This is what football is really about. The standard of the Irish league would increase massively if people actually watched it, cos it would be a more attractive place for better players. Respect to any true Irish football fans
Fai don't nearly make enough effort to help football here either though. I mean John Delaney alone earns three times more money they the league of Ireland champions get for winning the league. Enough said.
Jonathan Edwards it's culture. U cant expect other people in the other side of world to have same interest as u are. Must accept that hurling, rugby and gaelic football more dominant & influential than football amongst the irish
Jonathan Edwards It's always going to be like that. I don't support an English club. My main team is Celtic and my Irish team is Shamrock Rovers because they remind me of Celtic.Irish football will always be like this no matter what, its like an amateur level to say the least
Bohemian is a nice club, great atmosphere. Was there two years ago, very friendly people. Still have a shirt of the Bohs. Greetings from The Netherlands.
Lived just a short walk from Daly for a few months (exchange student). Went to a lot of games, inter alia the derby v Shamrock, and it was always a brilliant time. Love the stadium, the people, the pints, the chips and the atmosphere. I hope to get back sometime. Long live Dalymount, up the Bohs!
As a St pats supporter here in Dublin I dont think you could have made a better piece on our league and our football culture. This truly highlights what football is all about.Fair play to Copa90 for another great piece.
It's cool that Irish people love their local sports like Gaelic football and hurling, but also nice to see that there is passionate football community at the Emerald island!
Thank you for uploading this as an Englishman I've always been curious about Irish football but not really knowing anything about it...infact if im honest all I really knew about Irish football is Shamrock Rovers are the Dublin team and they wear white and green. So its been a great watch hell im tempted to get a cheap flight out there to watch me a game and vist the guiness brewrey now
Im from Dublin and I never watched the Ireland league I didn't even know it had a derby but after watching this i now have a different opinion thanks guys
I cannot put into words how I envy you Irish. Sure, you don't have any world stars, or you play a role in Europe's football world, but you have something that I, as a German, lack in the German football scene, and that is the bond between players and their fans. Look to Germany, England, Italy, ect.! Football has just become a business there, but you Irish people, you live football. On an emotional level, that's worth more than an international cup.
At this point, I don't even know how many I've watched this video/documentary. Seriously, this is by far the greatest advertisement I have ever seen for our league. I sincerely thank you
One place to do a local derby is in the North of Ireland. 2 teams Cliftonville and Linfield share a fierce derby, the two clubs are separated by the religious conflict which really heats up the game and makes the fans more passionate during the game as they want their team to come out on top. I really recommend creating a video on this derby when the season starts!
Is it not Cliftonville vs Crusaders that's the big CNR/PUL derby. Both N Belfast teams and all. Linfeild vs Glentoran is defo the biggest derby in NI anyaway.
@@jordangchelseafc2007 2 years late😅. Tbf your probably right I just feel tensions would be higher between the Reds and the Blues. Doesn’t make it bigger but big part of a rivalry.
Well my grandparents were originally from England so when they moved here their children supported Liverpool (like my grandparents) and then that passed down to me. So I grew up being a die hard Liverpool fan watching most games with my family. I was too young to understand the LOI and only found out about it when I was 12, that's how bad the advertising is. And there is no marketing for the league because the FAI don't care about it and the national television station were forced to show games. None of my mates follow the league and I'm an hour away (by public transport) to my nearest team Shamrock Rovers so this is my story as to why I never got big into the League.
+Quinlan I support Dortmund but i'm not from Germany, because football in my country is shite and no one really watches it. And yes, i would die for BVB. I love them as much as any german BVB fan. The only thing that is bad for me is that i can't see their games myself, i need to watch by TV.
+Quinlan 100% agree with you. This sums up the issue with football in Australia. I swear only 30% of football fans follow the local game and the rest support international.
+M'aiq TheLiar Does Not matter about the quality of the game on the pitch. It's was you make of the experience and the people around you. The more you and others attend the quicker the game on the pitch will develop.
Thanks copa 90, your the firrst UA-cam Chanel that recognised Irish football and that is a big thing for us Irish people and I go to every match in Tallgaha stadium
Cork City are my local team and I live almost 2 hours away from the ground but I always try my best to go to home matches. The club had financial problems and nearly died out. While in the first division the fans took over and got great attendance in the First Division and now we are in Europe and challenging for the Premier Division title and have argueabley the best fans in the League. People write off Irish football but they haven't seen the derby's like Bohs and Rovers and big title matches like Cork Dundalk and Rovers Dundalk etc It is a very underrated league and I love it. Proud to have such a league and passionate fans in our country which passes onto the international games
My 1st ever Rangers European game was against Bohemians at Ibrox Park in 1984/85. They gave a really great account of themselves over both legs, and beat us in Dublin. I 've had a soft spot for them ever since.
Great to see local football getting some recognition for once, there is no doubt that fans both in NI and ROI are some of the most passionate about. I was once one of those so-called 'armchair EPL fans' myself but decided to support my local team Glentoran in Northern Ireland on a much more regular basis, best decision I've ever made. If only local media could do stuff like this, the game would be in a much better state. Hope to see you at Glentoran Vs Linfield In Belfast next season Copa90!
I'm from Ireland and I believe we have the most passionate fans in the world, for example a few years ago we were 4-0 down against Spain and who could you hear singing,us,I've never been to an Airtricity League match because I live Laois but I was born in Santry and my familys Irish team is Bohemians and I hope one day to attend as many games as I possibly can.
Copa90 As an Irish football fan, it's great to see some recognition for the passion here. I think that the match up between NY Cosmos and NY Red Bulls would be a perfect derby day, especially because of NY Cosmos' resurgence in recent years (as Eli Mengem discovered in his trip to the World Cup). Plus it's surely very possible for this to happen seeing as ye just teamed up with ***** who are based in New York. I honestly think it would be interesting to see this
This was fantastic. A very big thank you as a life long League of Ireland fan. Don't follow either Bohs or Rovers, but you guys at Copa90 made a great advert for the League with this piece.
I'm from Bosnia and I just LOVE Irish people and Ireland and finaly now I can watch Dublin derby. RESPECT FROM BOSNIA AND BTW IM SHAMROCK FAN ;) because I'm also Celtic FC big fan .

Lived in Dublin for a while and even for a football fan from Germany it was a fantastic atmosphere. Quite old school, how football should be. Loved the Bars inside the Stand. Definitely going to watch the game in May.
Its great to irish football on such a big social media platform in a positive sense. Our international football has been lacking so much over the past few years that not many pay attention to The League of Ireland which considering the quality that it has, probably has one of the atmosphere out of all of Europes top leagues
What a game and what a night! Hopefully this video will bring a bit of awareness about how good this league can be, people need to pull themselves away from Sky and get down to experience how great these games can be in the flesh! BTID
As a Canadian who loves football and has no local team to support. Seeing smaller venues with great support and fun action. Just kills me because I wish our city had something. I absolutely love this series.
Last year I was in Dublin for the derby. Great guy at Bohemians got us tickets. I was so hyped walking to the ground, seeing Bohemians and Rovers fans singing everywhere, only to find the match being cancelled. Such a shame, as this video proves..
I mean this when I say the league of Ireland is like no other, being a Dundalk fan your whole life isn't easy, from that famous night in Waterford where we avoided relegation,to winning two league titles in a row, winning the fai cup, and beating Bate Borisov to guarantee European football, seeing grown men cry tears of joy, there's literally no better feeling. For people who says " the league is shite" would go out of there way to watch the Premier league than supporting YOUR local team. In my opinion it's the best league in the world.
Yes the football on the pitch is shite but the atmosphere created by the fans is unbelieveable, every week home and away.Perhaps us football fans in Ireland feel a closer connection to the clubs because we see the players week in,week out in the pub.Great video lads, keep up the great content.
TheFamousSJB i disagree with that tbh, i wouldnt say shit, yeah its not of a huge standard but theres loads of great talents out there, at the end of the day its 11 people vs 11 people same as an el classico
Christopher Ball i agree that there are great talents in the league like towell, horgan, luke byrne etc. but towell is widely considered as the best in the league and he could't cut it over in england. It gets overlooked by Martin O'Neill who would rather play someone from league 2 rather than give the league a chance. Comparing it to el clasico is crazy,as much as I love it.
+TheFamousSJB Richie Towell never played in England. He came back to Ireland from Scotland aged 21. Hardly didn't make it either when he spent two seasons on loan at Hibs playing in the first team in the SPL making 30 league appearances. He's been in training with the Ireland team too. Also, when's the last time a League Two player was called up? The standard in the League of Ireland is far from poor. In comparision to the Premier League, of course it's not great, those are the highest paid players and richest footballers in the world, of course they're going to be of the highest quality, but LOI is of relative standard to the bottom half of SPL, and lower half of Championship/top half League One. It's not poor, and it's not amazing, but it's our league.
Big shout out to Copa90 and Eli, fantastic video, its great exposure for the league and is exactly what it needs, just leaving this hashtag here ( #greatestleagueintheworld ) League of Ireland fans will get what I mean, we need to keep that hashtag circulating for Irish Football!
Fantastic production. Incredible documentary. Although it doesn't come close to being there, I'm sure you'll agree. Great advertisement for our club and league too. We'll in.
great short feature. very well done. professional, informative, and lively. the interviewer has a great demeanor and seems to have the respect of the players and the fans.
Cork City and Dundalk , in my opinion the 2 best teams in the airtricity league (Irish league) coming from a cork city fan i go to most there matches and for €5 a ticket I would really recommend it
Its brilliant seeing young and older players doing GAA and Football. Detest ones who think its a superiority contest with ones saying GAA is for 'culchies' or hardliners saying football is a 'foreign sport'
Excellent, fantastic ! Identity, passion & pride, as football should always be. Support your local team, far from modern corporate football. Brilliant !!
Matthew O'brien how can you call turners cross a kip?? It is by far the best loi stadium even from a neutral standpoint. Tallaght is alright though it’s missing a stand and feels kind of plastic. But dalymount (in its current state) is on par with oriel. It’s a dump. I can accept that if they fixed up the two abandoned stand it would be a decent loi stadium but right now, it’s a sh*thole
Back in 2011 I went to Dublin to watch the Champions League match between Shamrock and FC Copenhagen. Even though FCK won 0-2, Back then the new stadium was still in the progress of being built, so I had the best view of the hills. That was just stunning. Rovers' fans were polite and nice, yet when a few FCK fans 'trolled' the Rovers by wearing a Bohemians jersey, the police detained them on the spot, to avoid unnecessary conflicts. I fell in love with Dublin, and have wanted to go back ever since. Just don't have the funds. Love to Shamrock. I don't follow Irish football, but I'd love to come and watch a league match wearing the green/white jersey.
I play with and support my team it's the best thing ever and it is all about knowing each because most players either work or go to school together or live in the same area as one another.
PÓG MO FECKIN THÓIN BOHEMIANS AND SHAMROCK!!!! (That means kiss me feckin arse). I'm a St. Patrick's Athletic fan myself, the other big Dublin team (at least that's my Irish team, I also support my local team in England, Hereford and also Arsenal who were the team I supported as a child). As much as I'm not super fond of Bohemians and Shamrock it's great to see Irish football represented on here. Thanks Eli & Copa90! My dream is to move back to Ireland and live in Dublin so I can go to these games regularly, be a season ticket holder at St. Pats!
Went to a Sligo Rovers vs Shamrock Rovers game a few years ago. At the time I was not much of a football fan so I wasn't expecting much, but the atmosphere was amazing and really contributed to the love of football I have today. Irish football gets a bad rap, but the true fans are really great!!
I'm a Dundalk supporter and my team were playing away to Sligo and I was unable to go so I decided I'd watch that match and I was so happy for bohs but the atmosphere was incredible, if only copa90 had covered the last game of the season in 2014, Dundalk vs cork city winner takes all, over 5000 crammed into the ground, the atmosphere was amazing best I've ever been in. Anyway thanks copa90 for showing a great advertisement of our league !
Lived in Dublin for a couple of years and what used to annoy me is the amount of dubs who supported Liverpool, man utd, Arsenal etc and refused to support an Irish team.. I'm Scottish and people here may like an English team but support a Scottish side primarily.. I do get the gaelic sports are bigger but if all the Liverpool (etc) fans in Ireland went to watch a Irish team it would be much bigger.. My Irish team are the bohemians.. And hibernian fc

I'm irish and support bray wanderers. Always when boys come the noise is electric!
Bohs
I'm also a bray wanderers fan I just don't have the money to go down and see them every week like I use to
Do you live in bray?
Yea I do mate
I love watching bray, they always bring out the best in me!
great video! Shamrock Rovers fans dont just come from southside but from all over the city and is passed down from generation to generation!!
TheFamousSJB too right!
ahhhh I miss Ireland. I had a fantastic time there....would love to go back again and catch this in person!
Dublin looks like a really nice city.
Trust me it is
Full of druggies and muggers
The Gogoy Galway is a proper city mate , might as well go to a Galway United game , better than thoses dublin gobshites #GUFC
Michael Caulfield you mean mervue in disguise
Chap it's a fucking shit hole
thank you copa90 i was at that game as a rovers supporter, and you coverd the feeling at the game so well.
Great derby. As a Liverpool man I've been to the game twice and its a buzz.
after my da and I watching this we are going to go to the bohs rovers game UP THE BOHSSS
Fantastic production. Incredible documentary. Although it doesn't come close to being there, I'm sure you'll agree. Great advertisement for our club and league too. We'll in.
Copa90 come back to Ireland, there's some real good atmospheres in the league that need exposure!!
After watching this back, the atmosphere in this game reminded me of a good Scottish football rivalry.
Copa90 best channel on yt
great short feature. very well done. professional, informative, and lively. the interviewer has a great demeanor and seems to have the respect of the players and the fans.
Watched this vid a good 20 times over the last couple years 🔴⚫️🔴⚫️
Opening match of the 2018 season sold out weeks in advance game here is getting more recognition finally
Cork City and Dundalk , in my opinion the 2 best teams in the airtricity league (Irish league) coming from a cork city fan i go to most there matches and for €5 a ticket I would really recommend it
I love Dalymount Park, is a great experience being there.
Nice to see a bit of GAA gaelic football and hurling shown on Copa90
Its brilliant seeing young and older players doing GAA and Football. Detest ones who think its a superiority contest with ones saying GAA is for 'culchies' or hardliners saying football is a 'foreign sport'
Really wish more leagues like this would show their games online. It might help get more supporters around the world.
You should do more on the league of Ireland since the big league are over
Great Video Coppa90. Was at that game with my Mate Atmosphere was electric from both sets of fans. Delighted Bohs won ;)
Brilliant points made by Eli at the end
U have to a video on dundalk we were about to bankrupt 4 years ago now we won the league 3 in a row and we are doing well in europa league
Excellent, fantastic ! Identity, passion & pride, as football should always be. Support your local team, far from modern corporate football. Brilliant !!
Dalymount on derby night is perfect, common the bohs
Im from ireland so im thrilled that you made this
Edinburgh Derby. Hearts vs Hibs! Hopefully a cup game or if hibs get promoted next year
great work , nice to see the league of ireland getting some Respect.
Copa90 should do Cork city fc vs Dundalk
Best game in Europe weather in
Oreiel park or turlers cross
Rossi cullen Best game in Europe is Bohs Rovers oriel is a kip so is turners cross
123 xyz cork are falling apart again
Matthew O'brien hurts to say this but I agree. Hopefully from the 200k 1st round Europa league money it can sort us out
that last minute about supporting your local team is the best words i believe i have ever heard come out of a mans mouth.
Dundalk vs Drogheda or Dundalk vs Cork dundalk v Cork biggest game of the season 2 teams that could win the league
Recommend going to Sligo Rovers Vs Shamrock Rovers. Such a rivalry. #ClashOfTheRovers
Sligo Rovers are the best in Ireland
Not a rivalry at all 😂
Shane Lynch Nah mate. ST. PATS!
Gareth Wareth We both know its athlone town mate
I don't think it's so big any more
I play with and support my team it's the best thing ever and it is all about knowing each because most players either work or go to school together or live in the same area as one another.
Pats!
Although when I was living in Ireland, Limerick were my local team. They were a good 45 minutes drive away though so allow my glory hunting.
No. Glory hunting in any form is not allowed fuck the circumstances. Local or nothing
Jamie Tyler I was joking. I supported them coz their players visited my football camp and gave me a ticket.
Gareth Wareth COME ON LIMERICK!
John O Donnell SUPABLUUUUUUUUUES
Thanks so much for another quality video
Come to Finn harps vs Derry, north west derby
DCFC 🔴⚪️🔴⚪️
+Adam Callaghan we will hammer you tomorrow. UTH 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️
DCFC ! We won 5-0!
+Darth Vader aye I was at it cuz I live 2 mins away from Finn park. Great atmosphere, Derry were pitch invading tho
+Stephen Barron ok
Went to a Sligo Rovers vs Shamrock Rovers game a few years ago. At the time I was not much of a football fan so I wasn't expecting much, but the atmosphere was amazing and really contributed to the love of football I have today. Irish football gets a bad rap, but the true fans are really great!!
It's Derby day..... Bohs Til I Die
If we some how make it past paok and hibs win there game. Bohs v hibs in the playoff round.🔴⚫️
Never thought you guys would cover this match ! My local Derby
24th February 2018: Bohs vs Rovers. First game of the season. Bohs 3-1 Rovers exact same scoreline ⚫️🔴⚫️🔴⚫️🔴
Got the feeling of the derby spot on lads well done!
I love the Irish fotball :)
I was in the video nice meeting you Eli thanks fir coming
I'm from Ireland and I support Bohemians
Been from Ireland and seen this is great class act and great video Copa90
Do the Louth derby Dundalk vs Drogheda
