Those are truly Mirage Mountains with hidden gems that are rarely observed. From the surrounding deserts in all directions they simply vanish into the mysterious Chaparral secrets like fading dust from the final Butterfield Stage run 🙏🌅🦎
Beautiful day in the high country here by the river just south of Alma. I'm going to float the big river from Grapevine Bridge to Mogollon Creek then hike back to my car at TJ Corral. Going to look for some of the wild cattle that were shot from helicopter. Like your videos, they're inspirational.
I know a Butterfield and it was interesting to hear him tell a few stories of his family. He is an oil man, but he sure have a great Texas drawl for narrating Western stories. Your travels makes me miss my Arizona.
Brett, I just discovered your channel today and I am absolutely loving it! I’m an old (69 years old) cowboy that grew up in Tucson, Arizona and spent a lot of my lifetime exploring Southern Arizona’s old west historical sites. Like you mentioned in another video, 2023 was a rough year and it was for me too medically. Anyways, I am currently stuck indoors, but your videos are truly recharging my spirit as “I ride along with you” on your various adventures. Thank you! Quick question, who made your brown hat? That would make for another great “merch” product. Also, I just subscribed to your nephew’s channel “Mountain Misfits Outdoors”. I had to see what happened to the remote camp you setup for him. Thank you, Larry.
Thats great thank you .. Glad you like them and you like riding along ... thanks for going over to my Nephews channel he kinda had a bad week due to the weather I guess ... My hat is a rodeo king the felt one is my straw is a sunbody hat .. I do have links for them on Amazon .. tried to get sponsored by sunbody but they won't return my emails lol ... oh well .. Thank you so much .. oh and i'm working on a video now where I spent 4 days down in SE Arizona
Yeah, your nephew and his friend got some tough weather, especially for bow hunting. Thank you for the info on your hats, Brett. Hopefully they will get back to you for a sponsorship. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing your video from S.E. Arizona! Onward and upward!
That looked like a ton of fun. I can’t wait to see your videos in the Gila since it’s one of my favorite places to go. Hopefully, I’ll draw an elk tag down there this year.
Another good old video especially Butterfield coach trail. My cup of tea, Old West. Your mule sure trust you that’s a good working mule team then hounds.
Hang in there Brett. We appreciate what you’re doing. I didn’t watch it live but watched it later. I would be glad to watch your snippets and your comments on them. I sit down after a long day and watch things like this rather than the stupidity that’s on television. Good luck with your heart pictures.
Watching your videos turned me on to Dave Stamey. His songs have a similar effect as your videos. They take me somewhere pleasant in my mind. Any plans for the Black Range?
Might be riding up there in the next couple of days ... when I lived up there there was a place I found that I always told everyone I would go too if there was a #hit the fan Zombi apocalypse ... I might go and stay for day or two and film it .. we might be getting close now .. Thanks
Cochise and Quana parker (sp) ran those area. I love thinking about their lifes while riding the southwest. I grew up in Texas Canyon AZ. My grandfather hunted lions and bob cats in that area
You made a video of your day ride gear. It would be great to see a video of your long distance pack gear. Will you take a second pack mule or just the one?
That was a great ride Brett. Looking forward to the Butterfield ride. I was wondering how often you hunt your lunch out on your rides? It's a rare privilege to see these forgotten places. Thanks as always for sharing.
Good question on food what are some of your top choices on food for the trail how do you keep it fresh I've packed my horses a couple times in the Bob Marshall but food didn't keep well
Wow Agnes is better than a 4wd , at getting along on those tracks, that would be awesome exploring around that area, the history of the land intrigues me. What better way on horseback, or on the back of a mule. ....for my benefit and understanding, in your opinion what is your preference please mule or horse, I think I know your answer , but are there benefits of a mule to a horse.....purely for my understanding and learning, 🇦🇺👍 🇺🇸 .....totally enjoying your channel thankyou?.....
I should make a video about that .. but for pure toughness I like a mule up in the rough rocks and such .... If I was working cattle I would rather have a horse Thanks
The ride up the side of that hill coming out of that hole, arroyo or small canyon. Whichever you'd call it would make you pucker up just a bit. Been watching about a year and love your videos. I've never had the chance to see such land. I appreciate you sharing it with us
G'day Brett sounds like exciting times ahead for you as a kid growing up here in Australia I've always been intrigued by the different Indian tribes in your country what tribes would have been in that area way back then.!
Here in Arizona, we have lot of Old Stage Trails when I was a boy they were still calling the mail Trails because they had used them right up into the forties for delivering the mail those Stagecoach Trails were never straight they went from water to water and it was amazing the amount of work they've done on them dry laid rock and stone water basins anyway that's something to remember never a straight shot
In that country you do not want battery operated watches etc, self winding watch or wind up watch, a small battery pack to recharge your batteries and a portable solar panel riding on back of your saddle charging your battery pac
Have you been to the superstition mountains yet ? I have watched a bunch of videos about the mountains. But, now that I think about it, it would be too dangerous for you and your ànimals because of the old gold mines. Some of them are covered and some are not. One guy came within a few inches of stepping in one mine hole. It was not covered at all. Some are sealed up. Ènjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Kinda of a religious thing "Onward and upward our watchword shall be, While we are laboring, Jesus, for thee Never desponding for thou art our Guide, Pleasantly leading us over life's tide." It would be nice to talk to him .. thanks
Agnes is a sure footed girl. Those are some rocky hillsides you’re scaling (without a slip). Keep these great videos rolling.
Thank you! Will do! Yes she is a pretty good mule
Technology is great. When it works!! Awesome video. I hope when you saw that cinnamon bear you said I wish Jon was here. 😂
lol I thought about all you bear hunters ... Thanks Jon

Just cache about every stage stop or even more. Less to pack. WATER and Feed. Won't have to sidetrack to out of the way springs or tanks.
Might have to do that .. Thanks
good settlled "jumping mules" are also hard to find
Probably .. never really looked getting where me and Agnes are kind of working things out .. Thanks
I bet that was the stage rd. and the CCC worked it some.
I kinda wonder .. pretty good little road ..I would imagine even without the dam it held water after a rain.. Thanks
Yes sir. Butterfield sent engineers ahead to survey the trail. So it stands to reason that it was in the best spot possible.
