The key to the 2024 team defense compared to 2023 is whether their turnover production can match last year's. Michigan ranked tied for 4th nationally, 1 less than the 3 teams tied for 1st. Michigan faces much better offenses in 2024 than 2023, so it will take better defensive play in 2024 just to stay even with 2023's defensive performance.
That’s a really great point. I think all Michigan fans have been lulled to sleep with the best ball safety in program history as well as a defense that was always forcing turnovers. This three year run they’ve been on has been remarkable in terms of fumbles from our running backs - There’s been virtually zero. Most of JJ‘s picks in 2023 came in guaranteed wins. Just another one of those remarkable achievements of that 2023 national championship team.
I don't think we will match the turnover production from last year. However, I do think this defense has a chance to generate more disruptive or negative plays than last years defense. Last years defense was extremely impressive in terms of not giving up big plays and holding teams to modest gains down after down. I think this years defense will be more willing to take some risks in key moments and rely on specific players to go make plays when called upon.
Other critical defensive stats from 2023: M Defense ranked 4th nationally in red zone scoring conversion %, 5th nationally in red zone TD conversion %, 7th nationally in 3rd down conversion %, and tied for 8th in 4th down conversion %. Alabama and Wahington were collectively 5-27 [18.5%] on third down conversions. That was a better percentage than the best season team defense 3rd down conversion percentage back to at least 2009 [CFBSTATS only goes back that far]. Which team had the percentage during that time span? Why, 2016 Michigan [21.02%], of course1
Maxwell Roy I think is a lock for next commit.. we also just got a prediction for Safety K Winston fresh off his penn state visit so that is huge〽️
I REALLY like both McBurrows and Berry. I think that is the biggest battle next to QB.
mcburrows can play nickle or outside
I think they split time at nickel 50/50.
And somehow Ohio State has a better defense than us when we're really just replacing 3 players keep sleeping world I love it 4 years straight😂 Great videos buddy
Great video bro you’re killing it!!
We are so loaded !!
I appreciate it! Go Blue!!〽️
Barrett and Jr out
Houseman and Barham in
No drop off
Shocked about those Indiana players but love it for the big 10! Wish we could’ve landed CJ 🤷🏻♂️ GO BLUE!!
That Ravens defensive scheme is awesome. I don't expect any dropoff with Grant, Graham, Johnson, and Housman out there.
I truly believe our defense will be better this year than last year
Human being woodchippers 😊
I think the Edge rotation with Stewart, Moore, Guy, Koumba and Etta are going to be a Nightmare. Deeper on the edge than 2023.
Very possible. I love seeing Ike Iwunnah out there. Iwunnah is like a Cam Goode. Great pickup from Texas back then.
Agreed
I seriously doubt they would be better than last year defense due to how many players they lost, and the best case is for them to at least match the defense from 23
Jasper Parker just committed to Michigan
Thanks again for the update and consistency.. Go Blue Nation appreciates you!
I appreciate the support!
Great video bro love watching ur videos
Glad you enjoy!
Could the defense be better than last year?
I'm not going to say that they don't have a chance, but it's going to be tough. Nonetheless, they will for sure be one of, if not the best defense in college football next season
You have top key players returning with even more experience so yes, why not?
@@stevepearson4522Playing against much higher octane offenses like Oregon, USC, Texas and Washington.
i think it’s very possible because of the returning players being even better as well as Barham and hausman who may even be better than colson and barrett. Only question is the secondary with losing Rod Moore Saab and Wallace
Thanks for the updates bro!
My pleasure, thank you for all the support and being a member of the channel!

The second China wall...yeah!
I’m tired of us keep getting and targeting small slot receivers.. we need an outside big body to stretch the field,, geez
Wink needs to learn from Jesse Minter. We dont need Don Brown II.
Unfortunately, JaDen won’t start, Amir Hall will
The bit about Mahomes is crazy lol
We all know he's good but that's cool to hear from someone who game planned for him.
Translation: there's nothing you can do. Lol
Best michigan fb channel around for us maize and blue junkies. Keep it up!
Thank you bro! I appreciate it!
Thanks for another insightful update. After what Ja'den went through with that MSU debacle, I would like to see him shine this year. I believe he will.
