I didn't like the way Gurney won at all, he was wasting time on that stage taking longer to ruin Evan's rhythm, that's not sportsmanlike, just disrespectful if you ask me
I agree. When he took out those big shots at the end he didnt celebrate, he just walked away from the board and looked down on the ground and took ages before he retrieved his darts.

I watched the Humphries match live, he did get better in the last sets, but "Pikachu" completely collapsed imo. Nerves I suppose... Luke showed his class in that fight back, and often with these top players when they have a scrappy match they go on to hit tremendous form in the semis and final. Shame for Evans but that was a good game to watch.
Bunting v Van Gerwen and Dobey v Michael Smith have the potential to be amazing matches. Bunting and Dobey the two best players in the tournament so far.

Anyone noticed that over the years, the crowd are behaving worse? Been watching darts for 53 years, and you'll always get the odd whistle or booing, but the caller would ask for some order, and if they persisted they could get thrown out of the venue. Now they boo and whistle en masse and it's wrong. The crowd can influence who wins and who loses a game and it shouldn't happen. The worst fans are the English and the Scottish, they have no respect, which is why I agree with Gerwyn Price when he said the venue should be played in different places. The fans are so much more respectful on the continent.
I gotta ask here, maybe someone will answer me. Why do people not go for the bull on 81-85 checkouts? In the case they don't hit T20 with their first dart, they usually settle for a bull try on the last. If they would go for bull and hit 25, they would have a D20 for the last dart, and if they manage to hit bullseye and are on 82 or 84, they would have two out shots. I got the impression that hitting at least the outer bull is fairly standard for top level players, so I don't get it. What am I missing?
81 is T19 D12 as they play on 19`s anyway, and it`s the 9 dart finish routine in practice. 82 is a bull start, for two darts at a double. 83 is T17 as you can`t leave a decent finishing double otherwise. 84 is T20 start because that`s what they throw at constantly. 85 is T15 for those who like D20, or T19 for D14, again because they throw at T19 regularly now. Hitting a bull on the odd numbers 81, 83, 85 would still leave no finish, and 84 you just don`t play for D17.

My (non-darts) brain was thinking: 81 = 25 + 16 + D20 or 50 + 7 + D12 82 = 25 + 17 + D20 or 50 + D16 (x2) 83 = 25 + 18 + D20 or 50 + 1 + D16 84 = 25 + 19 + D20 or 50 + D17 (x2) or 50 + 2 + D16 85 = 25 + 20 + D20 or 50 + 3+ D16 And if you don't go for the outer bull then if you don't get a trebble you will only get one dart at the bull. My impression was that hitting at least the outer bull is a standard thing for a pro (something in the 80% realm) and that hitting the bullseye is much harder than hitting a D20, D16 or D12, so I would rather have a guaranteed one dart at a non-bull double than going for the trebble with my first dart and then needing a bullseye finish if I miss it.
