Punk And disorderly it was something he and his band created, no matter how many times they sung it, they still loved it. It portrays a message, and if it helps 100s of people I bet he'd do it again.

    • @denimchicken5824

SemiVirtual I'm guessing you don't play music then? I recall watching an interview with Howard from Killswitch Engage who said that he couldn't understand how Bruce Dickinson could ever tire of playing his music, until he played my curse every single night, day after day, tour after tour. But you'd never know it by looking at them, because it's a performance/an act. I have songs that I've played that I thought I'd never tire of, but it gets old real fast. And what message does it portray? He's a multi millionaire Hollywood actor living out a rock star fantasy, he's got nothing to complain about. This song is just ego massage for middle of the road musicians. Would this song be as popular as it is if it was performed by a obese elderly women? (Though that would be amazing) no. Because it wouldn't be marketed in the same way by the label, there's a target audience for this music who are mostly female and early to late teens, because most music fans discover more genuine music as they age. Again, don't get me wrong, I liked this song, but it's not very good at all

    30 Seconds To Mars - Attack :
I won't suffer, be broken, get tired, or wasted
Surrender to nothing, or give up what I
Started and stopped it, from end to beginning
A new day is coming, and I am finally free
Run away, run away, I'll attack
Run away, run away, go chase yourself
Run away, run away now, I'll attack
    I'll attack, I'll attack
I would've kept you forever, but we had to sever
It ended for both of us, faster than a
Kill off this thinking, it's starting to sink in
I'm losing control now, but without you I can finally see
Run away, run away, I'll attack
Run away, run away, go chase yourself
Run away, run away now, I'll attack
    I'll attack, I'll a
Your promises, they look like lies
Your honesty, like a back that hides a knife
I promise you (promise you), I promise you (promise you)
    That I am finally free
Run away, run away, I'll attack
Run away, run away, go chase yourself
Run away, run away now, I'll attack
    I'll attack, I'll attack, I will attack
Run away, I'll attack, I will attack
Run away, I'll attack, I will attack
Run away (I'll attack), run away now, I'll attack
    I'll attack, I'll a
    Your promises
    I promise you

To me, this song is about putting up with someone's shit for so long that when you reach a time when your own life has reached a turning point for the better this person wants to continue crossing boundaries and take you down with them a firm line has been drawn in the sand. "Run away, I'll attack" is such an empowering lyric. As if to say "if you don't back off I'm going to give you a piece of my mind". Some people grow, and others don't, there has to be a point where we are no longer to be a victim to their circumstances and stand up for ourselves and what we believe in. Such a great song.

People in these comment sections of pages of songs, 'trend' to start arguing about when a group (or band) was better and what material was superior. Think about this, try to sit where you are and just jot down one verse for a song, just one. Now consider how much material that these guys have put to press. From a perspective as you see now, these guys are really super-talented people, not just musicians. I look at Jared Leto and see a person who knows who he is and where he wants to go. I think what sets him apart from others is that he knows he is on a journey that is evolving and he, as we all are, evolving with it. So arguing about what was better is really just squander of the small amount of time we have. What makes him so charismatic and attractive is just that, he ain't waiting around to see what falls.

Jim M Well. Here's my verse and pre-chorus:
      Lost in the moment again
I gotta catch myself from falling into the abyss again
Torn ropes, old hopes, both tattered apart
I can't be leaving me here, I don't wanna live that person I've never been
But we're getting closer to the painful end
You promised me you'd halt me when I try to be above what I'd ever did
And your hands are by your side
      Yeah, you're no savior tonight
How'd it go? Probably crap :(

Jared is one and only - I guess - special person in Hollywood. He has worked both as a singer and an actor, and yet he's been perfect and appreciated in both - something that no one has ever done, or at least a few! He's a true artist, smart and a genius one, for succeeding in two huge and wide fields requires high intelligence. His cleverness and talents tainted with deep shadows of gorgeousness and charm alongside his high level of humanity has made a quite fine person that anyone could be inspired by! you rock JL!

I wish I could go back to this era to see them live. What an incredibly time it was. Thanks guys for making such awesome music, improving all our lives in the process.

I've been listening to this song for 15 years, and the meaning I was giving it changed throughout the years as I changed as a person.
I used to think that it's a message to a person that's wronged you and you finally get the courage to tell them off. My insecure teenage self always fantasized about being in such a cool position - sending the message of the song to everyone else, being in that power.
I then started to see it as a message to yourself. As you change as a person, your old self clings back to you, but you're finally becoming free with your newfound wisdom.
Great song. I find 30STM a lot edgier than that much time ago, but I would lie if I said this doesn't bring great memories.

I won't suffer, be broken, get tired, or wasted
Surrender to nothing, or give up what I
Started and stopped it, from end to beginning

Run away, run away, go chase yourself
Run away, run away now, I'll attack
    I'll attack, I'll attack

The music is evolving. They're evolving and getting older. Their style was not timeless and it was just a matter of time it will change. You can't expect them to write and sing angry, slightly emo songs at the age of 40. It would feel fake. Every band hits that point when they have to evolve and change something. At that point some bands just fall apart. Others embrace the changes and work hard on themselves and their music. A few years back Jared said 30STM's future is uncertain and no one was sure if there's going to be the next album. I guess that was their turning point. So no, they're not sellouts.
