I have a couple of the band on stage. I’ve tried to attach it to this message but YT won’t let me. Could you e mail me at jamlind@btinternet.com and I’ll try and send them to you.
Mmm....closure timeline? All references I see relating to the closure state it was closed for good in early / mid 1966. I joined the Army in September 1966 and whilst on leave just before Xmas 66 I attended the Astoria and watched the Swinging Blue Jeans. I was wearing Army uniform and got in for free and was not allowed to pay for my drinks!!..
My Dad told me he saw The Who and Ozzy Osbourne at Rawtenstall Astoria
Thanks for this Ken. My Dad was Jimmy Heyworth and my uncle was John Myerscough. Fond memories
Ah that's great to hear... indeed great times and fond memories the Astoria was amazing. Do you have any photos of the interior of the Astoria?
