Lovely to see the gigantic old machinery working. Great that it's all been left so people of today, and tomorrow can see how things used to be done. Also the old videos are a nice touch, great that those exist. Phil really is a fountain of knowledge.
Walked from Cromford Junction right up to Middleton Top and Hopwood Quarry when I was at school in 1971. Friday afternoons was “Outdoor Pursuits”. Used to go rock climbing, fell walking etc. Great memories 👍👍
It's crazy how much this part of Derbyshire was industrialised back in the day, almost difficult to imagine now given how most of it has returned to rural farmland. 👍

Don't give him a big head 😄.
You're right though he's fantastic with the knowledge. A great feast of history with the line and engine house.

What a beautiful engine house. Great to see it has been preserved 😊👍
👍 100% agree. Hopefully for many generations to come.
Bloody brilliant! Thanks Paul, cheers mate.

Great vid of the winding engine running. Could almost believe it was steam with the sound of the expressed air!
It was a fantastic experience. You could feel the whole building vibrating.
Another great one enjoyed again Paul thanx.
Cheers Chris. Glad you enjoyed it. I've loved putting these together.
Fascinating engine house! Beautiful building its housed in, to see it working was fab. Fery similar to what they had in the coal mines. ❤😊
That was very quiet no one around lovely 😊
😄
Wow!!! Just Wow!! Great detective work on those S - G - B signals. And that engine was amazing.
Cheers Jenny.
It's a shame it's not still steam powered, but at least it's still active for people to see how it worked. A fantastic attraction.
It’s a fair few years since I’ve been in that engine house that’s another fantastic area
Was a real happy bonus that the engine house was open in the day of our visit 😄
Nice to see you and your videos. Enjoy the weekend, and see you on the next. Cheers Paul! 😊
Cheers Martin all the best
Impressive 👍🏻
Stunning part of the country

You're right Ian.
The numbers of quarries alone is astonishing.

Another Great video Paul. I didn't realise there was still a working winding house on that line. I bet its quite knackering to walk that line
Cheers Russ.
I'll let you know if I ever walk it all in one go 😄. 2 of the inclines were bad enough in my condition.
The 'weaved' strips were brakes. They could control the wagons so that they always buffered while on the gradients.
