Thanks so much for the brief, lean side by side of these pedals. It's just what I needed.
Keep up the great work with these videos Stefan! They are done so well and you always give great info and tips.
+Brian Bowersox - Thank you so much! You're too kind :) There's definitely more of my mad rambling planned for the future :D
I use no 8 of the T2 very much. Its a dark long ambient hall. Never thought before that its possible to get a reverb of that quality (also the no4 cathedral) out of a small pedal. Thank you for it!
I now really want to buy a T2 again! I didn't get the best out of it when I owned it before!
This vid showed up in an email I got from you guys this morning. After watching and being introduced to the T2 (I'm late on this. I've seen it but didn't know what it sounded like), I was sold. I went right on reverb.com and got myself one :)
+Vicente T - That's awesome, man! Happy the video helped you in your decision :)
Hey TC, would you guys ever consider making a pedal with no set default sounds where every option on the rotary selector were Toneprint loadable??? That would AMAZING!!!
Agreed, get the tones you need but it's not good business to cut off the hand that feeds you. I find the same with most pedals though, several settings I can use and lots of fluff to fill space
i have the first version of trinity for two years now...it's just perfect, great pedal, thank you t.c.!
T2 is Tc's best reverb pedal to date! The same co algorithm is used there like their System 6000.
I have and love the original trinity also. I'm wondering if any of the T2 tones are available as a tone print or perhaps recipes for the editor
I have the T2 and in combination with the editor, it is the best ever !
I just need more tone prints slots :)
Seriously, TC are the best pedal manufacturer out there at the moment. I have 4 on my board! The Flashback x4' Hall of Fame, Polytune and the two switch looper. Stop taking all my money, guys! I do miss the Nova Delay though. It was always nice having the millisecond display so you could dial in exactly what you want.
T.I.N Mateus It's not tone I'm dialling in. It's delay time. Very useful time saver in a live situation and especially if you're starting off a song or saving them as presets.
As an owner of T2, I would add that the E1 setting is actually quite traditionally-sounding, nice and smooth. I use it most of the time in our band whenever I need a versatile sound. Only sometimes I dig into No. 1 (which is why I chose this pedal over its brothers) or to a toneprint. And I will definitely add No. 2 and 5 to my repertoir in the future. :) Anyway, a marvelous pedal!
T2 is the king!!!!And with the one Toneprint free slot you can put any kind of HOF reverb type there. But the sound of T2 is beyond amazing!
Christopher Moriarty I think they do,the only differences are In the presets.
This demo is really helpful when deciding which one to get . . . thanks!!
T2 is a gem, really. It seems very underrated, by TC as well! very few demos (still waiting for part 2 from Andy), and even in this one, well I disagree with the statement "it gets weirder and weirder after 5". 6 in fact is more subtle and traditional (I think it's a hall reverb). If I can propose TC a concrete evolution, is a new reverb pedal with all algorythms and the possibility to scroll via footswitch (quite like the new Empress 2016). I would also include the output volume option, and try to keep a small enclosure (not like the big flashback). Till then, I will keep my T2 on my board.
+Andrea Rossi
No 6 is a very fine plate reverb. Look at reverb descriptions here:
www.tcelectronic.com/t2-reverb/
+Andrea Rossi I like that they offer pedals for specific purposes. I mean, the almost infinite combinations is enough for anyone to go crazy over.
TC Electronic could do a Reverb X4 with the 4 Arena algorithms and the Ethereal modes of T2 plus the hall of fame 2,with modes and fx loop for adc effect to reverb and new algorithm magnetic echo based "reverb for echo tapes
Why not talk about what parameters are available or not for the different toneprint pedals.
especially since none of that info is available on the website or in any of the manuals ?
Stefan, as always a very helpful video. You rock. Thanks.
You're too kind, Gary. Thank you so much, and I'm happy you found the video helpful :) All the best - Stefan
Thanks very much for your thoughtful demo. I've been checking out a lot of reverb pedals for ambient guitar and you helped me decide on the T2. Thanks much!
You're welcome, Richie! I'm sure you'll love it (I certainly do)
best
Samuel
T2 is so warm and spacious ,preset II sounds like Tel Ray organ
are any of these reverbs interchangeable on the various pedals via toneprint?
isn't the "sound engine" the same on all these toneprint enabled pedals?
Hi TC/Stefan, I have the Hall Of Fame & Flashback x4 and think they're great. Is there any chance of giving us users the settings of all the presets in the reverb range in a booklet/PDF for us to tinker with in the Toneprint editor? Also, do all the delay pedals use the same algorithms as each other; could we get the settings for those too please?
Ben Riddell yeah I noticed at the back there's check the Manual or something part. But where the hell is the Manual!
Is it the same processor in all 4, just different presets?
Appreciate the demo! Quick question: Is there a tone print or with the editor a way to add the subtle flavor of a Leslie rotary Doppler effect to say the reverb tails? Thank you in advance!
+Kozmo260 - Yes you can. I would recommend going with a fast chorus or vibrato on the tail for that effect :)
trinity has toneprint? its not on the app
Thx for the review mate, you really helped me decide on the T2 , awesome product!
Will the HOF2 have the ability to get tone prints of the reverbs on the Arena and T2, without using the editor?
i think i will get the t-2 for my violin, thank you T.C electronics, your pedals seem to go with violin the best :)
Are going to do this for the modulation pedals? The dreamscape, corona shaker, vortex flanger etc?
I've always been reluctant on Reverb, not just in pedal form but on what you get on an amplifier too, partly because I play Stoner/Doom/Drone etc. at high volume, saturated with silly amounts of Fuzz (Minotaur Evil Eye Fuzz) through a big Orange 2x12 combo with a 4x12 cab extension so the sound I have is just huge in itself, so with so much Fuzz & Distortion, often with feedback, I've thought adding a Reverb would just seem pretty pointless. However, I'm also experimenting with heavy clean, sometimes with a hint of Fuzz, ambient sounds & the TC T2 just seems the perfect pedal for Reverb. Out of what I've tried and looked for, it just feels the best option for what I've looking for, I reckon it'd cut through the heavy Fuzz too.
do all pedals have a single tone print slot? a pedal w/ more slots (for more $ of course) & cross compatibility of tone prints for all reverb pedals would be nice. if multiple slots & cross compatibility are available this should be major point in any demos & marketing
Hi John. All of the first generation TonePrint pedals have just the one slot. Hall of Fame 2, Flashback 2 and Quintessence have three TonePrint slots each.
Still waiting on Quintessence to go on sale, everywhere I looked I can only pre-order it, I am so psyched about that pedal. I love my HOF2, Flashback X4, Corona Chorus and of course my Polytune. I used to have an all Boss Pedal chain and it just sucked my tone out so bad, now I only use TC Electronic and MXR (but only MXR with True Bypass) and I am so much more happy with my tone. I honestly thought it was how much cable I was using that was ruining and draining my tone but it was the Boss pedals the whole time.
What I wanted to know most was the degree with which we can transfer the reverb TonePrints from one pedal unit to another? I guess I need to read up on how TonePrints work because I was wondering if we can really use the TonePrint application to put any reverb preset into any pedal? T2 presets sound amazing. But could I really load some of those T2 presets into another reverb pedal? Are all the different settings available in the TonePrint application, or does someone have to make the recipe available?
+zedxxx9 - the presets in the T2 aren't available as TonePrints. They're exclusive for that pedal. But every Hall Of Fame TonePrint in the app is compatible with the T2 and the Arena. You can easily make reverb tones via the editor that sounds like the reverbs in the T2 :)
I have the trinity, bought it on the net so i had no chance to demo. I find all the presets to be over the top and pretty much useless for actual songs. At least the toneprint setting is editable and usable.
Is there a way to hack the trinity into an hof?
Unfortunately not. Trinity was very much designed to be a bit on the wild side.
please make an editor app!!! I don't have a computer but love tweaking my reverb. I would even pay for it!
There is an app. It's called TonePrint. It's by TC Electronic and it's on the Play Store (Android). I don't know about iPhone though.
Brian Quirion I know, but the problem is that it does not let you make your own tone. You can only use it to beam celebrity tonepeints to your pedal.
Does anyone know which pedal has the best spring reverb? I've had the Wampler faux spring and the Catalinbread Topanga, but traded them off for gear that I've since traded for other gear. The Catalinbread wails: the internal buffer/ true bypass option is awesome and the preamp is ingenious. Has anyone compared these TC pedals with the Wampler or Catalinbread? I shoulda kept the Catalinbread. C'est la vie.
When will tc make a reverb x4??? The people want it
If I want to use tone print beam from a HOF tone and I beam into a T2 will it work. Are the tone prints interchangeable from each pedal?
HOF TonePrints can be beamed into a T2, yes! All the reverb TonePrints by and large can be beamed into any of the reverb pedals.
I Have The Arena & how do i get a toneprint into it from my phone VIA on the Go Cable?
Set the preset knob at Toneprint, then open Toneprint editor, find the arena pedal, open its Toneprints a, chose one, aim your phone speaker close to the neck pickup (volume of the guitar should be at max) and then press Beam to Pedal. If it doesn't work, update the firmware, if it's not possible, like on a few TC pedals I have then, you like me are stuck with whatever Toneprint last was uploaded on your pedal plus the presets. I think many TC Toneprint enableed pedals don't get new firmware updates, hence it's not possible to upload new Toneprints or making your own and upload them. Shame, but that's what I've came to find recently.
Wow I really love your playing in this. It isn't even really playing but it's so beautiful and I watch this all the time. Sorry haters.
Hey :D I have a question about the T2 pedal. Is it possible to load in a Hall Of Fame toneprint? I like the T2 pedal a lot, and 90% of the time, I use my own toneprint on my Hall Of Fame Reverb pedal, so I would really like it if I was able to switch between my "HOF" toneprint, and the other T2 options. That would save some space on my pedalboard. This would basically mean that I have a soundscape pedal and a Hall of Fame pedal, in one little stompbox :) Thanks!
+Thomas “BassDude” Raes - Yes you can. T2 is compatible with every single Hall of Fame TonePrint in the app :)
The T2 on the 1st setting reminds me a little of my old Ibanez Swell Flanger......a very cool sound. I love these TC Electronics pedals.
demointhekitchen I absolutely hear what you're saying. love my old swell flanger and the similarity is striking.
Thanks! This video was really useful, great job!
is there just a straight reverb setting on the t2?
Not really as one of the presets, but in the TonePrint slot, you can load any Hall of Fame reverb that you so wish. :-)
Is there a shimmer tone print yet?
+Eric sin sinner - no there isn't. Our reverb algorithm doesn't support octave up. So it can't be created.
can I use the tone print from hall of fame on T2 for example?
Precio de las pedaleras
Thanks Steven, great job! Just got a T2 after this video. That way I can have a toneprint for "normal" reverb but also have a bunch of strange options!
When will we see a reverb with multiple tone-print slots?
(ps, do the tone-print reverb pedals have different technology in them compared to tone-print chorus pedal, for example? It would be awesome to see an X4 that has options for each button to have a different effect (OD>Mod>Delay>Reverb for example) and I'm sure people would pay the big bucks for this, so we can have smaller pedal boards!
I don’t see any TonePrints for the Arena!!
Great vid! Just purchased the T2, and I love every bit of it, the presets are very inspiring, as well as having the tone print feature to load more traditional reverbs when I like, or to even get "crazier" with the tone print editor, great job TC! Only thing thats missing is being able to save your personal tone prints to the mobile app, but once that happens, i can literally not think of any ways to improve your line, so I guess its up to you guys! Keep'em coming!
STEFAN ! :D
Love ThePedalZone and tc Electronic, so I loved this.
Instead of having to bend down to change the settings, why to have some why of progressing through the different presets by using your foot?
bring back t2 reverb :(
Does the T2 include the Cathedral sound from the original Trinity?
+David Dyte - The T2 only includes the E1 and E2 settings from the original Trinity. All of the other sounds are different on the T2. But you can load a Cathedral TonePrint into the T2 if you wish :)
I love the original trinity, far more usable for most guitarists than the T2
That's because the original Trinity is basically a HOF with 2 PGS designed ambient algorithms, and T2 is so special, because no other pedal has such sounds in it, moving modulated, stretchy pitch shifted reverbs. Its a special reverb tool for creating unique sound scapes.
The biggest difference between the HOF and the others is that if you shut it off, it's really shut off. No trails if it's off.
Great review. But only mono 🙁
Since some days my TC Electronic T2 just started to make weird noise without any reason! from last gig was in the pedalboard and after some days I started to use it again and it was making some really weird sound, does anybody know the solution?
It is just a bad pedal? TC is not replying to me....check out the video ua-cam.com/video/lDdHaHOBYp8/v-deo.html
Hi there. Drop us a line on our Facebook page - private message. We'll help you out :-)
Here's an example of the Arena reverb in Church mode (which should be pretty common to each of these pedals) in a song mix, used on strat and lapsteel guitars: ua-cam.com/video/Qx3e4Pz-yt0/v-deo.html
guitar is awesome,,,
Wow this guy is barely playing and it's SO BEAUTIFUL. I run this video in the house alot just to hear it. Someone mentioned that he is a performing guitarist? Who is he? And...I saw someone down on this board totally ripping him apart...what, do you hate rainbows too? Sheesh.
the million dollar question
I always loved the irony of a Danish pedal maker naming a pedal HOF. You have to be Danish to understand...
Por favor urgente
But what if I want a really bad reverb on my pedal? No crap, dude.
'I guess in order to show you, I'll have to grab a guitar". Uh, ya. Had to wait six minutes for that?
Yay, I got to be the 666th like!
Weird whales, now we're talking!
Cool pedals. But the fact that the presenter only refers to "guys" (see 1:02; 2:13) in this video is a little off-putting for me. We all know it's not the case that only men play guitar. So why is TC only marketing to men? Disappointing. (It also kind of seems like some marketing executive made the presenter wear that ridiculous Billy Corgan-style scarf to make sure we know that TC Electronic is down with "alternative" music, lol.)
tc sucks compare to neunaber. the best always was line 6 verbzilla but digital dry signal
that tone print feature... sorry! I don't buy it. It seems totally useless from my point of view. TC.... drop it!
That's cool Rogerio, it's not for everybody. But as our USP, we're not likely to drop it anytime soon ;-)
Yeah right. Why would anyone want to make completely unique reverbs with settings that fit their own taste? Totally useless.
Gregor Gilmour
TC Electronics are not willing to help with this issue. This is a bad pedal. Digital PCB,No spare parts , No guarantee on expensive repairs. I will never buy another TC Electronics product. They have apparently recently been bought over by behrringer which figures. I give you all fair warning, Do not buy any TC Electronics products.
Hi Gregor. Thanks for your input. Which pedal have you had trouble with? There are four featured in this video. We have a one year warranty in the US, two year within the EU. Three repair centers in the continental US and a repair center in almost every country in western and central Europe. You are also always welcome to contact our support team here: www.music-group.com/support/tcelectronic/askquestion or write to us via private message on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Have you already tried these channels? Cheers, James.
Poor demo for me. Too much chat and showed no real info on individual pedals.
+Tony Robinson - can't please verybody. We have a series called 0% Talk 100%, where it's all play and no chat. Perhaps that something for you :) Haven't gotten around to demoing the reverbs yet though. But a lot of our other pedals are a part of the series.
awesome pedals, get a new guy though please.
Happy you want the pedals to stay, sorry you want me to go. What could I have done differently to make the video more enjoyable for you to watch? All the best - Stefan
To each his own - I like Stefan, he is very informative and seems like a cool guy. Cheers!
TC Electronic You just come off as super awkward and with low confidence. I also don't find these videos very informing at all honestly. They're not entertaining to watch either. Not trying to be mean or anything, just calling what I see/feel from these videos.
David Ysasi That's perfectly fine. What you see as low confidence/awkwardness is simply due to these videos being shot really fast. No time to script or anything. And since I'm a Dane and not a native English speaker, I can sometimes trip over words or pause for a sec to search/translate words in my mind. We'll look into putting more time aside to getting future vids storyboarded, scripted and streamlined. But a pinch of geeky awkwardness will always be present. That's just who I am. Have a nice day, David.
watching this during my morning poo really is a great way to start the day
+Mannes Too much information?? Naaaah, poopably the right amount of information ;)
+Mannes I always poo first, then watch a vid....but I suck at multi-tasking....
Mannes me too!!!
Mannes I can't believe it, I'm pooping first thing in the morning, watching this as well and this is the first comment I read xD
Can we get a TonePrint of your shit?
