First time using my miter saw, and I’ve got my written out instructions just like you had them, and it’s nice to have a system. The returns are tricky for a little triangle, I am the customer ha ha so I do want them. I feel like I learned a new language, thank you very much.

It is obvious you are not only perfecient at your trade but your alsoa good teacher. You get to the point, provide examples and don't bore people with fluff fill in verbiage that adds nothing to the subject. Very good teaching viedo. I am an DYI' person who and I've been copying what I see in various homes and i always thought there had to be a cleaner way to terminate your trim when you hit a vertical door trim. I've always just put it on a 45 degree like i see many windows done but obviously all I've done is got good at doing it incorrectly. Thank you for sharing..

Good video. Pro or not, one needs to have a “system” for doing their measurements and cuts and be sure everyone in the game is “singing from the same hymnal”. I usually work by myself but use the same terminology of long and short (I’m a diyer). The 45 degree returns look nicer to me than a 90 too.
I don't have a electric saw machine , maybe you could teach me how to measure cuts with a manual saw cutter, thank you for your videos , you are doing good job

Thank you. Well if your talking about round corners , those are usually cut in three pieces. With the middle piece being somewhere around 7/8th. And the angle is 22.5 degree on the saw. There is also a little tool on Amazon that helps find the points to measure too. These things make life much easier for accuracy on round cornersamzn.to/3AY9djv. If you take a little spackle( I use the pink stuff in the tube). It turns white when dry.It dries pretty quick with that amount. Then a couple passes with 220 sand paper and you have a smooth paintable surface. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
Not really. If I'm firing into the baseboard, it will generally pierce the bottom plate, so I go about 12 to 16 inches apart. If there's an area where it opens too much due to curvy 1/4round, I'll push it in and shoot one in that particular spot. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question
My husband and I just put in laminate floors and now I'm ready to put in quarter round. I just bought a miter saw and I am confused. Want to cut 45 degree to the right quarter round so do I put 45 on the miter saw to the left or do I put mider 45 degree to the right. Right quarter round and right miter or left to left. New to this miter saw. Confused.
Hey bloke , just come across this video and watched how you do the quods.. or as you say quarter round..I’ve been doing this for 35 years and I’m not being rude or nasty but you make it sound complicated..have you ever tried to scribe out one of the quods instead of 2 / 45 deg cuts. To me it’s better as if you get movement your 45’s open up..by scribing they don’t and you only need half of the measurements you have taken..again I’m not being rude it’s just that I use quarter round every day of the week…cheers

Driving myself crazy feeling like I am making a mistake by not going with the more expensive 20 mil shaw vinyl vs the 6 mil pergo laminate. Huge price diff but is this you get what you pay for in this case?
Yeah, I have never installed that type of flooring, only the pargo. Most brands install pretty similar, but I have ean into some that have driven me absolutely crazy. I feel your pain. We usually use a liquid nail or silicone . But we put daps of hot glue every 8 to 10 inches to hold it until the liquid nail dries. Then just throw a small bead of white caulk on the top and you're in business. Hope that helps. Thanks for the question

Just had LVP done throughout the house. The installer ended all his quarter round with a 22.5 degree cut. I think it looks awful compared to 45 degrees. How can I make it look better when it ends at door trim? Can I add another 22.5 degree end cap?
Not sure how that would even work. But if it's only a 22.5 then if your careful you could remove those pieces and 45 and then just nail then back in place. Hope I understood the question right

If you are going to be cutting long pieces of quarter round it's nice to have your setup where your quarter round can stretch out over some type of Rollers or something that holds up the other end. I sent this video. if you go to 9 minutes into the video. You can see where I gave a few tips for cutting quarter round. When you have to cut something like a short angle to a short angle. If you left a gap all the way around like a fireplace hearth, then you can fire your nails down thru the gap into the wood subfloor. On concrete you need to just get it as close as you can. You can use a combination of silicone and hot glue. The hot glue is really to help hold the trim as the silicone sets up. But honestly the best way it to take a jamb saw or angle grinder and get a diamond blade and cut the bottom just enough to slide the flooring underneath. A lot of times there's a layer of mortar that can be cut and chiseled out fairly easy. Little dusty so mask off the room. But looks amazing when finished. Thanks for the question
Thank you sir. I just love learning new tricks like this. I did something similar way back. One of the holes I was drilling for a transition on concrete got a little too big when I was wallowing it out. I made a round wedge with scrap wood pounded it in the hole(coated with pl glue in the bottom) then put the screw in. Made for a very strong grab. Again thanks for the quick tip. I'm sure It will be in a future game plan.

Thanks for the video. What do you think about the practice of just laying down the trim to the wall and marking the cut point and direction of the cut?
My wife works with me and she does that. When she 1st started with me we were installing only real wood 1/4 so we were able to use the 1/4 round snips. It saved a lot of time. But with this press board stuff the snips wont cut it. So we have to use the saw. However my wife has gotten so used to laying and marking it. I like to make a list so I make one trip to the saw instead of 50 . Especially going up and down stairs. But it's another way of doing g it. And it is pretty precise. Thanks for the question
HERES My guess. Either you are cutting on the wrong side of the blade, or you are letting the blade spin against it too long and it could be melting it a little. Or lastly you could be measuring from the short point instead of the outside point. Try putting you returns together 1st then pulling your measurement from the outside of the return to you inside corner measurement. If you are still confused. I really try not to let the music over power the content. And I turn the volume down when I run the saw so as to not blow someone with headphones ears off. Nothing against jazz but maybe that’s why it’s not often used as background music at least that I’ve seen. I figured the voices towards the end of the video were from your earbuds after pausing the video wondering where in my house (or head) the voices were coming from lol

You skipped out on the splice @ 18:20 when the homeowner showed up. Did you cut that splice at a 22.5 or leave it squared off?
I usually spice my 1/4 round with a 45° angle. Base board is a little different depending on the sitution

What should I use to fasten PVC quarter round PVC quarter.
White out nails, caulking? Adhesive for PVC?

Do you use a diamond blade or general all purpose blade?
Mostly regular for wood. Never put a diamond blade on my saw before.

What's your secret for keeping the tape measure on the end of the quarter round when you mark the quarter round for cutting
If you are going to be cutting long pieces of quarter round it's nice to have your setup where your quarter round can stretch out over some type of Rollers or something that holds up the other end. I sent this video. if you go to 9 minutes into the video. You can see where I gave a few tips for cutting quarter round. When you have to cut something like a short angle to a short angle. What if you are installing quarter round up against brick or stone? Can't nail into it would you just use silicone and not nail?
If you left a gap all the way around like a fireplace hearth, then you can fire your nails down thru the gap into the wood subfloor. On concrete you need to just get it as close as you can. You can use a combination of silicone and hot glue. The hot glue is really to help hold the trim as the silicone sets up. But honestly the best way it to take a jamb saw or angle grinder and get a diamond blade and cut the bottom just enough to slide the flooring underneath. A lot of times there's a layer of mortar that can be cut and chiseled out fairly easy. Little dusty so mask off the room. But looks amazing when finished. Thanks for the question

Drill 1/2" holes in the wall behind your baseboard and insert 1/2" dowels, then nail into the dowels
Thank you sir. I just love learning new tricks like this. I did something similar way back. One of the holes I was drilling for a transition on concrete got a little too big when I was wallowing it out. I made a round wedge with scrap wood pounded it in the hole(coated with pl glue in the bottom) then put the screw in. Made for a very strong grab. Again thanks for the quick tip. I'm sure It will be in a future game plan.

Thanks for the video. What do you think about the practice of just laying down the trim to the wall and marking the cut point and direction of the cut?
My wife works with me and she does that. When she 1st started with me we were installing only real wood 1/4 so we were able to use the 1/4 round snips. It saved a lot of time. But with this press board stuff the snips wont cut it. So we have to use the saw. However my wife has gotten so used to laying and marking it. I like to make a list so I make one trip to the saw instead of 50 . Especially going up and down stairs. But it's another way of doing g it. And it is pretty precise. Thanks for the question
I am using 3/4" pvc quarter round and when I cut my returns I end up with about 1/4" gap against the wall. What am I doing wrong?
HERES My guess. Either you are cutting on the wrong side of the blade, or you are letting the blade spin against it too long and it could be melting it a little. Or lastly you could be measuring from the short point instead of the outside point. Try putting you returns together 1st then pulling your measurement from the outside of the return to you inside corner measurement. If you are still confused. Nothing against jazz but maybe that’s why it’s not often used as background music at least that I’ve seen. I figured the voices towards the end of the video were from your earbuds after pausing the video wondering where in my house (or head) the voices were coming from lol
