Something that’s missing is that in spring and summer is it’s so green and even more beautiful. Like a rain forest. Moved to Bella Vista almost 2 years ago from California. I absolutely love the area. So many gorgeous places in Arkansas, the natural state. You really don’t get it unless you’ve been.
From California, and stayed a week in Bentonville, the last week of October. Even in a "dry" year, the Fall colors were beautiful! So much outdoor activity to participate in. We will be back!
Been in Bentonville and Bella Vista for the last 17 years. Moved here from Southern California and never looked back. Definitely need to come back in the spring and fall. The square has a farmers market on Saturday mornings. We also have what’s called First Fridays. It’s so cool to just see everyone out enjoying all the fun that comes to town. We also have the Bentonville Film Festival, and Walmart Shareholders every year. Such a great place to live and call home. Thank you for the video
leave your CA politics in CA. My family also moved there from CA as many also moved to TX recently and from what I see they generally do not like people from these states who want the benefits of living in these great states while also bringing there politics with them. The same politics that made CA no longer attractive to most. And you know what I mean by politics I'm sure. I had nothing but a great experience in AR and while I live in Asia now when I go back it will definitely be AR.
I went on vacation a few years ago and stopped in Bentonville, Arkansas to find a stop-over and ended up staying overnight. All of the people there were so warm and friendly, waving and smiling. Beautiful town full of beautiful, awesome friendlies!! I would love to go back there again one day.
Being someone who has lived here my whole life, it is SO weird to know what people think of this place, especially given the fact that they’ve never been here! Thank you so much for your video :) So many good memories, some of the most beautiful being biking to the square in the summer where me and my friends would get a snack at (surprise) Walmart. Sitting in the square with a drink and a snack is just so awesome, and truly beautiful. No video will ever to the colors of this town justice tho 😭 Truly is a beautiful place, y’all should for sure put this in your visit list
I grew up here ( but born in Tulsa) and I watched the growth you describe over the past 20 years and even took a small part in it. The parks & rec department is extremely proud of how well they maintain the city but you are correct in assuming that the number of billionaires in town doesn’t hurt. Glad you enjoyed the museum as well. I kind of think of Bentonville as the nicest, wealthiest town most people have never heard of.
My father became city manager of Bella vista Arkansas 1976. We moved from Dallas TX Bentonville HS graduated. 1979 was a very small town then. Would see Sam Walton couple times a week I moved back to Texas after graduation. Glad to see it again on film.
Want to see a small town, Head toward Mountainburg, AR. and go to Chester. It’s an old town and really small. I own an 80 acre parcel above Chester and have to pass through to get to my property. It’s a beautiful drive through the Boston Mts. from Chester to my property. After all, you did miss my old hometown when you went through Altus, OK. Would have loved seeing you go through Tipton. The population soared during WW2 because there was a German POW camp in Tiptop. Used to play in the old camp as a kid. In 1959, the Tipton high school had 12 seniors graduate. One of the seniors drove the school bus.
My sister lives in Pea Ridge, about 15 minute drive or so from Bentonville, we visited her last spring and now we are planning to move there (Bella Vista area) in the fall of 2023. I’m so excited. We moved from Southern California to the Oregon Coast and now onto the Mid-West for another chapter of our lives. 😊
What a beautiful place…who knew…still enjoying your treck. I enjoy how you present these places that in many cases I haven’t visited. It really is America the beautiful. Safe travels.
mm hhmm.. I started to realize about a decade and a half back that company was bad news when they were keeping most of their employees at part time hours so they were forced to supplement their medical and food benefits through government handouts.. the high cost of low prices and look where we are now. A first glimpse into U.S. corporate/government facism. Started selling us out to overseas interests. I remember in the early 90's their "Bring it home to the USA" was quite inspiring, most everything sold in the store was made in the U.S. then after about 2000 it all went downhill.
I’ve lived in Bentonville my entire life, and I can say that is one of the most entertaining places to grow up in. The square offers so many fun opportunities, the trails are beautiful, the art is alive, and the school districts are amazing. I’m 15 now and have been going to the square almost every week since I was 5 to enjoy times with friends and family. Highly recommend!
I believe the Walton's store that is shown in your video is really Walton's Five and Dime. The actual 1st store to carry the Walmart name. was in Rogers. I remember shopping with my parents in that store in the early 60's. We were visiting my grandmother who lived out near Pea Ridge and she was being released from the hospital and needed a few things for her home. So off to Walmart we go: one item was a set of sheets. I do not remember what size or color of sheets my mom bought, but do remember her saying that they were such a good buy. And this Walmart was such a wonderful store-nothing like it in Wichita! One of the last times that I was in Rogers, that little Walmart was gone and replaced by a Super Walmart. I checked it out and could not believe the number of check out lines there were. Also, so many little shops at the front of the store, looked like my local mall. Bentonville has really grown over the years. Also, I hope you got to check out A&Q Chicken House in Springdale!
You're right. The first Walmart store was actually in Rogers, east of Bentonville. We shopped at the Super Walmart there now many times. A Q Chicken is still in business. We lived in Lowell when I worked at J.B. Hunt, and we loved eating there.
I’m a 39 year resident from KC and a 31 year WM associate. I’ve seen it grow from 9000 in 1984 to just under 60,000 here in 2022. Thank you for not bashing WM like a lot of other people do. We like our not so small town. But the growth is getting out of hand. Thank you for your video.

Thanks for the virtual visit. I've spent some time in Arkansas on road trips and enjoyed myself, but I haven't been to Bentonville. Next time I'm passing through I need to stop and check it out. I have wanted to visit Arkansas for over 50 years now, and still haven’t been there yet. Evidently, my desire to visit has waned as I’ve gotten older. The original reason I was attracted to Arkansas was because of it’s shape! I thought it had the best shape of any state in the country. I still do. Also I was a fan of the University of Arkansas football team around the same time ( 1969) Still want to go, just not in the summer! GO RAZORBACKS!!🏈
You know, from someone who comes from a small Country, I would love to live in America and in truth it does inspire people like me who could start a business and live in a home with a decent garden on a plot of land. Why I was born in the UK I really don't know lol.
@@TatumHildebrand: on balance, you will be better off in the UK. Your life won't be as hectic or expensive and you won't have to pay through the nose for healthcare. come on over.
Is a very great place to live up there in North West Arkansas we have three kids that went to U of A an never return they have try to convince us to move up there but we live in central Arkansas and we love it here but we visit a lot! Glad you enjoyed 👍🏼
Born and raised in Arkansas - it’s home, but I like Minnesota MUCH MORE! The air is fresher there, my allergies aren’t as bad, and all of the lakes and general scenery are beyond gorgeous! Also, much cooler in the summer and little to no humidity.
Excellent job capturing Bentonville! I’m a SW Arkansas resident but never visited here. I may just need to do that. I’ve been to Eureka Springs and I know you would love it. Happy New Year to you and your wife! 🎉🍾🥂 Safe travels! 🚙
Moved to Bentonville area about half a year ago and work at the restaurant at CB. Glad to see your reactions to the town! This is a fun video for sure. Be sure to come back to see the Walmart museum!😊
Hi Lord Spoda Thanks for this nice video. I liked the town. Spent a good day with you. Very nice downtown and equally good neighborhood. The surrounding area of Walmart original is the major attraction. Enjoyed the video. A desolate patch within the city leading to the museum is fine too. Waiting for the next video of rural Arkansas.
I know of Bentonville because I watch 'Fixer to fabulous', but Dave and Jenny don't go downtown often and the footage is tightly edited. The Walmart "home office" appears very modest. Hard to believe that the subjugation of the America shopper is overseen from there. The housing stock is lovely and not at all like the cookie cutter homes on the average sprawling sub-division.
If you visited bentonville & missed Eureka Springs, you missed a small town real gem! I highly recommend it for your channel... I grew up in Bentonville, Eureka springs, & kinda all over NWA. Eureka was always my favorite because of how unique it felt. Fayetteville is a close second, but probably because it feels like if Eureka springs became a full size city area. Lol
Sam Walton was once asked why he drove a 15 year old beat up pickup truck despite being one of the wealthiest men in the world. His response was “What am I supposed to do? Haul my dogs around in a Rolls Royce?”
Me and my sister used to ride in the back of that truck with Ol Roy himself. Sam and my uncle were great friends. You wouldn’t know just by talking to him that he was any different then anybody else.
Thank you for coming to NWArkansas! I live about 40 miles south of Bentonville. I work in Fayetteville. I always tell people that NWArkansas is not anything like the rest of Arkansas. Because of that, i never could understand why people made fun of Arkansas. Lol. Now i know. It''s the land of Walmart and Tyson foods. People from all over the world live here! More people work in Bentonville than live there! At rush hour, it'll take you an hour to go a couple of miles. Ive been there....Wasnt pretty....thanks again for coming here. I hope you had a chance to go through all the small towns in the area, i.e. Cave Springs, Decatur, Gravette, Gentry, just to name a few. I hail from Siloam Springs. Watching you drive around makes me want to take you around to some reall pretty places.
Spent a month in Rogers which is to the southeast of Bentonville. Loved it there. Bella Vista, Lowell, Cave Spring, Little Flock all kind of meld together to make up this area. And the bike trails and dog parks are great. Lots of sidewalks everywhere. People are very friendly. They have a great Native American museum as well. And there is an airport close by,. Even though it isn’t international, it is not a small puddle jumper airport. Thanks for the video.
My family and I visited my sister in Pea Ridge last spring. We fell in love with the area and now we are preparing to move to the Bella Vista area in the fall of 2023. I’m so excited. Everyone was so friendly and warm and loving, nothing I’ve ever experienced in Southern California (born and raised) or Oregon Coast (where we currently reside). I’m only worried about the low temperatures and driving in the snow. The rest we can handle. 🤣
I will write this slowly so you can all digest the words ....... I have never been to, or have any knowledge of Walmart ..... it is a company in the States ...... There, now you can all pick your jaws up off the floor. Now to the meat of the discussion, the architecture. Bentonville, so close to the trip around Jefferson City, and I am impressed, you are spoiling us lovers of beautiful buildings. It looks, for want of a better phrase, manicured. Streets look that clean you could eat your lunch off them and so well preserved. Museum looked very interesting and has some of the original prints with great historical meaning. I was amazed when you read out the population figures, such a small place that has grown for obvious financial reasons. Another terrific journey into a previously unknown US city for me and thank you for showing me around. Food looked very nice but the weather a bit chilly. Hope you have avoided the snow storms I have seen invading the US. Stay safe and see you in the next adventure.
Everything was interesting , Great Video!..beautiful homes..yes alot of money talks there..thanks for the thought you put into your filming.."Wishing you an your wife ALL the best in the new year 2023🍾🥂..Safe travels..God Bless.🌼
So many people have the five and dime store confused with the first Walmart store. The building you show on the square in Bentonville was Sam's first store but it wasn't called Walmart. Sam originally bought a Ben Franklin franchise and that was a regular 5&10¢ store. The first Walmart store was opened in 1962 on the corner of 8th and Walnut Street in Rogers, Arkansas. I have lived in Benton County Arkansas most of my life and my Father was 2nd in command of Walmart security. I used to talk to Sam often and I know he would appreciate it if everyone knew where he opened his first real Walmart store. I enjoy your videos and am not trying to be critical, just wanted you to know the facts. Thank you!
What an amazing town! All the houses certainly looked upper class and were all very well maintained. I guess in this case the statistics you read, they really bare out and match up as it looks like a beautiful community! Keep the great videos coming! I happen to be in St. Louis on a quick 3 night vacation and we are staying at the Drury Plaza at the Arch…….
I graduated from UA-FAY/86. I lived there till 1989. That metro is also home origin/ family base to TYSONS Foods, AG EDWARDS & JB HUNT Trucking. That is a lot of BILLIONS in one place. There is an architectural school there I attended. FAY Jones who was a student of FL Wright taught there n designed homes for the Waltons. While the rest of the state is in limbo NW-Ark florishes.
I live in Bentonville and my job is mountain bike trail building and Arkansas has some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. A lot nicer than Kansas where I’m from lol. It is a little overcrowded but nice.
I'm watching it twice just to show my wifey how nice it is there. Definitely not the Arkansas we have seen. Keep up the great content. I'm learning alot from yall.
Call some of these places ahead. I bet we’d be accomodating. I BRIEFLY worked at North Little Rock’s Chamber of Commerce & we LOVE to see travelers like you…even in the smallest of AR towns. 🎉Ya’ll come back now, YA HEAR😜😎
I would love to own a Frank Lloyd Wright house. Fallingwater is one of my favorites. My husband spent some time in Rogers in the early 2000's.Thanks for another awesome video.
Thanks, Tina. The museum has a Frank Lloyd Wright house on the grounds, but photography of any kind was not allowed inside or out. Which sucked, cause I would have liked to shown it in the video. :(
Rogers and Bentonville are divided by the freeway. If you'd went there it's like different world. Due to a massive amount of immigration there are so may houses with dirt yards instead of grass and goats tied up in the front yards. they tried to pass an ordnance years ago to limit to 25 people per household but it failed.
@@2shoat For the most part, yes. The boundaries are a bit interesting though. Parts of northern Bentonville are actually east of I-49, but that encroaches on Little Flock, not Rogers. And quite a bit of Rogers lies west of I-49 (from Walton Blvd/Walnut St on south). There , Bentonville is north of Rogers, not west, and the boundary is not along I-49.. It would be fun to speculate if the boundaries would have been a bit different if they had been drawn after the freeway was built.
I relocated to NWA in 2006 and can testify to the growth in that area. By 2019 the growth has priced me out of buying a home so I bought a home in SW Missouri and commute to NWA for work. The drive kind of sucks but it is the best of both worlds, low cost of living and higher wages. This is something my grown children have come to realize in the last year and moved back home and commute to work. They now have plans to buy a home in SWM rather than rent in NWA.
Hello, thank you very much for your beautiful and informative video. It's always very exciting to see your videos here in Germany. I wish you a happy new year.😊
Hopefully you visited Fayetteville too. Even prettier city square with Dickson St blocks north, beautiful old homes in the historical district, and it’s a mountain town so it’s a bit hilly
@@Theywaswrong yeah downtown Bentonville is very nice. Some may say it’s better but Fayetteville’s is pretty, way busier on weekends, and feels more authentic
Hello you two!!! Very happy to see this great video!!! Still enjoying everything you do!! You know I have added to my Bucket list to meet you two sometime!! I love road trips!! In warm weather!!! Just a couple days ago had horrible cold weather!! - 40 - 50 wind chills!! Stay warm and safe!!
Oh my, I really like that town. It was just beautiful. And I would order two cheese enchiladas, yum. I can taste it now. Glad to see the wifey got a nice warm winter coat. Sorry the Walmart museum was closed.
As a Bentonville resident when I tell people I live in Arkansas, people always get the wrong idea XD My family calls it the Bentonville bubble. Super different than the rest of AR!
Bentonville AR is "The Mountain Bike Capital of the world." Between Bella Vista and Bentonville i think there is over 450 miles of bike trails and they are always growing. The trails are groomed and taken care of constantly. Also there is a paved bike trail called Razorback Greenway that travels North to south from Bella Vista to Fayetteville that i think is over 60 mils. Almost 1000 people a day moving to the erea. If your hoping to move to North West Arkansas and buying a cheap house and some land you missed out on that by about 3 years at least. It's a great erea that is growing and expanding daily.
Iv lived here my whole life(40+ years). It’s fun to see from others eyes all the great stuff here. Sometimes us locals just walk on by like it’s normal everywhere 😂
So bummed I didnt know you would be in my town!! I work at the downtown Walmart Neighborhood mkt. Too bad it was so cold. I'm glad you enjoyed your time here. And to answer your question, nope no bad areas, nothing sketchy or scary. Stop by next time.
Yes Bentonville is awesome. What I like is: no empty buildings downtown. It's a historical town. It's minutes from the country. Must see Crystal Bridges BUT then there traffic. Terrible!!!!
Looks like a movie set for something like "Leave it to Beaver". Don't believe I've seen many downtown's so well surviving of malls, shopping centers as this one. Never been there, need to plan a trip.

Another fine video on your adventures sir. Take care and be safe. But have fun
Thank you, James!
Great video- will add bentonville to places I’d like to visit. - not what I expected- many thanks
It's beautiful, and there's lots to do there!
Where in Minnesota? Cold doesn’t bother you?
I am relocating to NWA in March 💗 Thanks for sharing 💓
Nice!
I'm a fairly new subscriber. I'm really enjoying your channel and videos! Bentonville looks lovely! Thanks for what you do!😊❤
Thank you, Wendy! I'm glad you're along for the ride. :)
Excellent job capturing Bentonville! I’m a SW Arkansas resident but never visited here. I may just need to do that. I’ve been to Eureka Springs and I know you would love it. Happy New Year to you and your wife! 🎉🍾🥂 Safe travels! 🚙
Thank you, Patricia. :)
Loved this video! Very nice town!
It's beautiful! You can see that Walmart money everywhere. :)
Moved to Bentonville area about half a year ago and work at the restaurant at CB. Glad to see your reactions to the town! This is a fun video for sure. Be sure to come back to see the Walmart museum!😊
Hi Lord Spoda
Thanks for this nice video. I liked the town. Spent a good day with you. Very nice downtown and equally good neighborhood. The surrounding area of Walmart original is the major attraction. Enjoyed the video. A desolate patch within the city leading to the museum is fine too. Waiting for the next video of rural Arkansas.
Thank you for the comment, Rajeev!
Lol
We are going to visit Eureka Springs this spring. We're waiting for everything to turn green for that visit. :)
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip Awesome! Will keep an eye out for that video!
This is my part of the country. A beautiful area.
Thanks again! hope yall enjoyed your holiday
Thank you, Olin!!!
Sam Walton was once asked why he drove a 15 year old beat up pickup truck despite being one of the wealthiest men in the world. His response was “What am I supposed to do? Haul my dogs around in a Rolls Royce?”
LOL!
Excellent video as always! Happy new year to you and your family. Safe travels.
Thank you!! :)
Great episode. This is one of the places I been too but not explored. I need to explore Arkansas. Whatever you two do. Don't run from the ASP!
Beautiful town.... future retirement spot!
I moved to Bella Vista in 2015& fell in love with this area. NWA is beautiful ❤ Now I live in SWMO but I still frequent there. Such a great area
Great video!! Have family spread from Jasper AR to Bentonville. Its a beautiful corner of the state. Absolutely the opposite of Pine Bluff.
It really is.
Awesome, been meaning to make my way to Bentonville. The battle of Pea Ridge site is on my list
Cool! There's quite a lot to see there.
Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone great job happy holidays 👍👌✌🏻🎇
Thank you, Debra!
Thank you, SF. And yes, very surprised you haven't been to a Walmart! The town is very prosperous because of the company. You can see it everywhere.
I enjoy every one of your Video's! It's Fun seeing the whole country! Always something New to see! ♥️💖❤️
Thank you, Judy!
Everything was interesting , Great Video!..beautiful homes..yes alot of money talks there..thanks for the thought you put into your filming.."Wishing you an your wife ALL the best in the new year 2023🍾🥂..Safe travels..God Bless.🌼
Thank you, Jenny!
Thank you for your videos, we love them!
Thank you for the kind words, Connie!
That's a really nice Drury!
Bentonville is basically a hallmark town
@@morganharris2413 it really is..I live next to downtown Bentonville..really amazing lil town…the Christmas lights on town square is a must see.
That's the most expensive part of the town to live. Those are milion dollar homes.
Great look thanks, City's like these just what our country needs.I'm the same about wallyworld been going in their doors since the seventies .
Happy New Year Spoda to you and the wife! Hope 2023 is a good one!
Happy New Year to you as well, A Bomb!!
Awesome video hopefully it'll be part of a four-city tour of Fayetteville, Springdale, and Rogers AR
I will be doing them in time.
Awesome! :)
Love Bentonville,bike trails,parks,hiking trails.
This is an amazing town, especially the downtown area. Thank you for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!! :)
I think a return trip there is warranted once those places are refurbished and re-opened.
Weather here goes from over 100°F in summer to roughly -5°F in winter. It's crazy.
Same here. I relocated to Oklahoma
I did the same thing, it’s a stark comparison cost wise now
If you want to see Sam's pick-up truck, it's on display in the lobby of XNA airport just a few miles from Bentonville.
Hello, thank you very much for your beautiful and informative video. It's always very exciting to see your videos here in Germany. I wish you a happy new year.😊
Thank you, Torsten!
We love our little town.
Sam and Helen is married in the cemetery behind the home office.
Nice Town, Went to full screen and my Cat got on the desk and watched you drive. Nicky's Jacket is nice, Good video thanks for taking us along
Wow, cool! :)
Hopefully you visited Fayetteville too. Even prettier city square with Dickson St blocks north, beautiful old homes in the historical district, and it’s a mountain town so it’s a bit hilly
Fayetteville will be getting its own video.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip nice! I’ll be watching that
Looks like the downtown of Bentonville would be really hard to beat.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip hell yes, I'm in Fayetteville. Cant wait to see that one
@@Theywaswrong yeah downtown Bentonville is very nice. Some may say it’s better but Fayetteville’s is pretty, way busier on weekends, and feels more authentic
Gqqood evening 🌆 sir! Iived in Rogers, Arkansas!
Thanks, James! :)
Oh my, I really like that town. It was just beautiful. And I would order two cheese enchiladas, yum. I can taste it now. Glad to see the wifey got a nice warm winter coat. Sorry the Walmart museum was closed.
Thank you for this. :)
@Lord Spoda The Momentary is a second art gallery launched from Crystal Bridges that also hosts outdoor events.
You should visit Huntsville Arkansas off of highway 412. Very small nice town.
I will be!!
Bummer about the museum being closed. Nice looking city square.
You should check out Siloam Springs, AR, it's a beautiful little town...Home of John Brown University and more, of course.
As a Bentonville resident when I tell people I live in Arkansas, people always get the wrong idea XD
My family calls it the Bentonville bubble.
I love that ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ artwork. What a pretty town. Sorry the museum is being remodeled.
I loved that one too.
Excellent video.
Thank you, Jonathon!!
You must return next year and preview the new Walmart HQ campus. It is coming along beautifully and is going to be a fantastic place.
Sounds interesting.
Yes Bentonville is awesome. What I like is: no empty buildings downtown. It's a historical town. It's minutes from the country.
Must see Crystal Bridges
BUT then there traffic. Terrible!!!!
If youre in the area again check out pinnacle hills in rogers you see that its quite the step up
Looks like a movie set for something like "Leave it to Beaver". Don't believe I've seen many downtown's so well surviving of malls, shopping centers as this one. Never been there, need to plan a trip.
Excellent Work~
