a lovely video, thank you for showing this beautiful little town.....it's unbelievable what happened here...prayers to all the citizens who lost so much..condolences to families who lost loved one...
I'm still in tears. Even though I live in Michiagn, I've gone to Maui every winter to say hello to the whales and even though I stayed in Napili, Lahaina was always so special. My heart breaks for the wonderful people there and mourn all of the people and animals killed in the fire. And the beautiful, magical Banyan tree. I can't believe everything is gone.
Maui is a very special place especially its people. We are in disbelief at so much loss, especially the loss of life of humans, critters, and flora. things are just things, lives are irreplaceable. Very sad.
As a graduate of the U.of Hawai’i, I am shattered! I have always loved these gorgeous islands and their friendly people. I will always miss “old Lahaina” but want it built better and safer for my ‘ohana. Please donate what you can !
Thank you so much for this video. It’s absolutely crushed my heart to see the devastation that’s beholden on Lahaina. My Wife & I have been to Maui over 20X’s (combined). It’s like a 2nd home. We’ve walked Front St. more than you can imagine. The place is extremely special in our hearts, so much so we got married 4yrs ago on Oneloa Beach. Thank you so much for this video. Mahalo
If you've seen the photos and videos of the abandoned incinerated cars in a disorganized jam on Front Street, in this video it's the part from 2:49 to 3:09.
That tall Norfolk Island Pine on the left at 2:42. Along with the old Banyan tree, it was a memorable tree for me too. I hope it survived despite being ravaged by the wildfire. 😢
I doubt very much that it survived. The Lahaina United Methodist Church next door was totally destroyed, meaning that everything combustible in this location burned until it was consumed. That implies no trees could have lived through hours of intense heat.
So sad. Like faded photographs you can never go back. Scary part is total burn area is about five times larger. Destruction could have been multiple times bigger.
I used to fish where Safeway is by and now when the fire started I missed fishing and me and my dad will always fish there on weekends but Lahaina Strong
I am a Lahaina visitor ..I lived there 1995-2010....than I moved with my wife...to another city ......I can't believe they let this beautiful town burn down....the fires could of been contained... People died needless because of stupidity...I am still in shock 😲....it looks like Hiroshima 😮.... Unbelievable..this is a real nightmare... Prayers 🙏 for the Families who lost Loved One my 💔 is broken for my Lahaina Family and Friends
This is a terrible comment. We don't want to see a video of how it looks after the fire, and obviously this is not recent, as it was taken BEFORE the fire. Silly and useless comment.
Obviously you have reading comprehension issues, the date is clearly posted 5/27/23. To make a comment like this at a time so many have lost loved ones or worse, life, is shameful.
I am not watching. No, people of Hawaii and this place in particular had destroyed their livelihood, their paradise, their own homes. Hawaii, this name calls up disaster lurking and wastefulness, this name gives senses of non sense and self assuming and materialism enjoying at its most ridiculous nature. None of these people living or had died had any thought about this was going to happen , did they.?
I apologize for not being able to respond to your comment as I can't understand it, makes no sense. Im guessing it was translated? However, it sounds like you are critisizing criticizing, which at a time like this is beyond low. Human lives where loss, THAT is irreplaceable.
Thank you for posting this!

It’s crazy this was posted over two months ago and is already a historic video
Actually it was posted just two weeks ago but, it was recorded on the 27th of May, 2023.

I got family in Michigan that are from Hawaii, as well as family still in Hawaii. On other island though

the islands are beautiful but what makes them magical is their people, I agree.
This video is GOLD now!!
Been there twice and just can't stop thinking of the people affected
Nice video!!!before & after.

Probably the ppl were in the water on the side and those were their vehicles
5:15 broke me
We have lovely memories of this beautiful town it will always hold a special place in our hearts .So sad ❤
Reminds me of Sausalito Ca.....

Me too.

Haven't been there in years but Bubba Gumps was prime spot, i didnt see it there anymore
I do remember seeing a sign but not sure if the place is still there.
Tragic
Hello smart city! 😢
It is so sad watching this now. What a beautiful place. Now gone forever.

For a island it sure has so much stuff !!! So many cars. So sorry... all is tragically wiped out.
wow..all these places are gone !!!

I think most of us share your feeling of profound sadness and disbelief.
Is this Front St?
yes
First 3 min looks great
All those power lines and cables strung out, reminds me of a poor part of an asian city. There are ancient backwaters in the MIGHTY USA
Hopefully more people know that Jesus Christ is coming back. We are spiritually saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the Lord God and Savior.
Obviously not a recent video. Post this along side one drive after the fire
They didn't say it was a recent video. I'm glad to have something to watch that shows it the way we all remember it.
