Thanks i just but a set at Costco i was worried about icy road conditions my best winter tires before this was Michelin ice and they saved me from a serious potential disaster once.
Yes! I've had the Michelin Ice tires before also! They were great for winter, but I had to take them off for spring/summer since they are a true winter tire. I am in Texas, so I don't really need a "true" winter tire here. The Crossclimate 2s are perfect for me where I live. I don't have to worry about this winter, and I don't have to go changing tires for each season. I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase! Congratulations!
Hey, Chief, thanks for this vid. I live in Northern Arizona so we can get ice and snow. I just bought a set of CrossClimate 2s for my RAV4 and get them installed in three days. Yours is the first vid of ice performance I was able to find. I realize these tires aren’t really designed for very icy conditions but they look like they performed well for you. Makes me feel better about my decision. You got around just fine with your FWD Camry, so the RAV4 should do well with 4WD. Appreciate you taking the time and energy to film and post this.

Awesome news! Thanks for your comment! I agree with you. They are the best tires I've ever had for all year driving, no question. I hope they keep making these!
I bought a new Honda Civic a few months ago and your video convinced me to get these tires to replace the OEM ones that came with the car. As I live in Canada, good performing tires in the snow/ice are a must.
Gonna get these for my Acura RDX SH-AWD. I live in texas and do cross crountry road trips, gravel roads, mud, but also those january/february ice storms. Gotta stay ready for anything.
What’s good with them is the rubber does not freeze like all season they stay soft so you have more traction on the road. All seasons freeze like a rock in winter.
Very true, very true! Michelin used a special rubber compound for these tires that keeps them soft enough for fall/winter and still good enough for spring/summer. I don't know how they do that, but I love my tires!

For the last two winters, I've gotten into situations where I had to stay at work because no one could come in to work and I couldn't get safely get home. I'm getting ready to begin researching these tires for myself.
You're welcome! I think these tires are an excellent balance for us in Texas. I haven't found a better tire for all weather in my research. The next best thing I've found is full winter tires, but then you have to switch them out every winter and spring. Full winter tires are a little excessive (but safest) for our 2-3 week Texas winter roads. I could be wrong. But these tires have served me well here in Texas. I am confident that I will be safe when going out this winter. It's the other cars on the road that I'm worried about now. Best of luck, and let us know how everything goes!
Big up from T. 🇨🇦. I personally run Michelin Defender LTX M/S (All season) all yr on my MDX. The CC2 is obviously better on ice/deep snow, but louder and u lose some MPG (1-2). From tirerack : Defender - light snow 8.9, deep snow 8.3, ice 7.9. Cc2 - light snow 9.2, deep snow 8.8, ice 8.5. Michelin xice (winter tire) light snow 9.3, deep snow 9, ice 8.8. So u can see the all weather cc2 is pretty close to a winter tire! That's amazing.
Good points! For me though, the CC2s are much quieter, and ride smoother than the Bridgestone Potenza tires that came on the car. So I really like that. The gas/mileage difference is not even noticeable to me, but...I did notice some slight rolling resistance. Obviously because the rubber is a different and softer material. Overall, I've ran snow tires before too, and yes, these tires are very close. But living in Texas, buying full on snow tires would not be best for me. We just don't get snow like that. So yeah, depending on where you live and the weather these can be some really good tires to keep on all year with or without the slight comparisons. Thanks for watching and for your input too!
Thank you for your video, great to see CC2s do so much better on ice than regular tires. Put CC2s on my awd Acura RDX in Seattle and have SO MUCH more confidence driving on snow when we go hit the slopes 50m from Seattle. Did sound check w/ all season tires I had, then after I put the CC2s on and there was NO difference 😮, loved that. Recommended these tires to anyone who will drive on ice or snow sometime in the year and they do great the rest of the year no need to change to a winter tire, those days are gone!

Thanks for your comment! I'm happy to hear the tires served you well! I'm wondering what this winter will bring us, I hear it's going to be a bad one for us in TX. I know this is crazy, but I kinda want a bad one so I can test the tires again! 🤣🤣🤣

Good review! I live in Wisconsin and have the CC2's and they're great for our climate. My sister lives in Dallas and I am going to recommend to her. I know ice storms can pretty much shut down some southern cities since they don't generally have salt trucks like up in most northern states. CC2's make it much safer and as you mentioned, they are all-weather tires, for year round use.

@Senior` Strong Lifts 5x5 You are right, plenty of cars on the side of the roads here when winter weather hits us. Most people just take their chances with regular tires here because our wintery weather usually lasts only for a week or two. Other than ice, we usually just see really cold Temps, not snow and ice on a regular basis. I've lived in Germany during my military career and I know how well snow tires work. After having snow tires, I will never play around when it comes to winter weather again! The investment in good tires for the weather is worth it! Much cheaper than a new car too!
Ive done 20k miles with these tyres fitted to a Honda fit in the UK 🇬🇧. This past winter was quite icy, tyres filled me with confidence wherever i drove and I even went out trying to get stuck… I failed 😞 😆. We had gridlock traffic due to road conditions etc and never once felt like i was losing traction. Had a moment where I gave way to car coming in the opposite direction on a narrow icy lane, there was an suv behind me who also gave way pulling into a snowy passing point (ditch). I was able to drive free pretty quickly and off up the icy hill where as suv was struggling and could hear their wheels spinning before gaining traction. Only downside in UK 🇬🇧 is EU regulations, tyres must have low rolling resistance to maximise fuel efficiency but this also means the tyre wears quickly. At 20kmiles ive got about 2/3mm tread left on the front (FWD car and heavy foot) seen reviews for US claiming 50k miles but rolling resistance high. They are about 50% more expensive than a premium summer tyre in UK and imagine i’d get more miles from the tyre but given the confidence i get from these and I didn’t slip off the road into a ditch this year i’ll be buying again. I live surrounded by farms with mucky roads (especially now) and travel to the city daily so a good tyre that can handle all conditions is a must.
Thank you for taking the time to share what you've learned about these tires. Quick question, since one of the design features of these tires is the rounded oval contact patch (unlike the more typical squared off contact patch) which requires a slightly higher psi to maintain the roundness. The result of all this is a smaller, more focused contact patch. Sorry for all that but it leads to my question, what psi are you running them at?
I haven't had to add any air since they installed mine, but they put nitrogen in mine. They fluctuate between 33-35 psi as they warm up and cool down. So basically, I haven't ran them any different than the standard psi for my vehicle.
Great video. I just put these on my 2018 Lexus ES350 and my wife’s 2017 Lexus IS300 AWD. So far, we love them but I just put them on a week ago. Hope they are great in the winter here in Michigan.
Awesome! I hope they get you through winter there. So far, I have not heard any complaints from anybody myself. I live in Texas, and here, they are not set up for winter. No trucks putting down salt, etc. Last winter was pretty icy for us here, and they did just fine for me. I had no issues at all with mine. Come back and let us know how they hold up for you, I would love to know!
@@isee232 I will keep you updated. I watched a ton of videos on these before purchasing. I was mostly interested in winter performance and what I learned sold me on them.
@Brian-fo8sh Sounds good! I made this video because I couldn't find many about winter performance when I was looking to buy mine. Hopefully, this video helped! I plan to do a follow-up, "one year later" video soon.
I was driving in Dallas with winter tires (I’m from Canada) during the ice storm. Felt like I was the only guy in the state with winter tires as the hardest part was dodging other drivers.
🤣🤣🤣 That sounds about right! You very well might have been one of the only people with snow tires in Texas! I was a very close second with these Crossclimate 2s! Makes me wish more people knew the difference tires can make. Lots of people think any old tire will work as long as it has good tread on it. Totally wrong. Stay safe out there, and thanks for watching the video and your comment, too!
Sounds like a plan! Please come back and let us know how it works out for you. Personally, I was not impressed with the factory tires. I'm happy I changed mine out.
@@isee232 Hey I did get the tire's about 4 month's ago and so far I really like them, The handling during a really nasty rainstorm was insane. Winter season will be here before we know it so that's going to be the ultimate test. Factory tires were not very good at all in snowy conditions but I could defiantly tell that the AWD would engage after losing traction. I agree with you on how well they drive too a lot smoother than factory ones. I'm confident that the tires will be good for winter though. But I want to say thanks for the video helped me make my decision.
Got first snowfall plus rain driving to work, the roads were really bad and weren't really plowed well. But I can confirm they handled very good there were other cars even trucks struggling on the road, sliding i did a little but my traction was very good, I've never had tires handle this well they are amazing. I feel like it ever driver had them the roads would be a better place.
@@Quantum_Noir Wow! That's good to hear! Thanks for the update! Here in Texas we might get a little snow or cold enough temps for ice once every 2-4 years, so I can't really do much more than the video I did make. I can confirm however, that even in the Texas heat, its going on 2 years since I made that video and the depth of tread on my tires is still excellent. My wife might have put 2,000 miles on since I put her tires on 2 years ago and you can barely tell the difference between the tread on both cars.
That's great! If it's the same video I saw, his video helped me make my decision too. At the end of the day, as long as your ride is safer because of your choice of tires, that's all that matters! 👍🏽
I just came across your video and I’m looking at buying the cross climate 2’s or the defender 2’s. I must say with that good stopping power on ice, I’d be worried about the car behind me being able to stop😂
Sounds like the ice was braking up under your tires. I live up in New Hampshire and we get the snow and ice. We talk feet of snow not inches. In an area where we get butt hole deep snow in a storm and ice on top these sound like a great purchase for my wife’s car.
Hey Chief, thanks for posting this video and for the link to the other ice video. I've got a couple of questions for you now that you've had these for at least 7 months. Have you noticed any decline in fuel economy with these CC2s compared to the tires you had on it and how are they wearing for you?
Hello! Thanks for your questions! As for fuel economy, I have not noticed a major difference. But then again, I also am not a daily driver. My car is a 2018, and has almost 29,000 miles on it. Either way, compared to my old Bridgestone tires, no, I have not noticed any considerable difference in fuel economy. I keep the psi good and have had no issues. Same for wear and tear. No unusual wear, barely any to be honest. And again, I am in Texas where the heat was over 100 degrees this summer. I will try to do an update, so stay tuned!
Wow! I have never heard that, I mean, it gets hot here in Texas, but not THAT hot! Lol. The tires are made of a softer rubber compound, but I'm sure they won't melt away. When I first moved here from Germany, I still had actual snow tires on my car, and the heat didn't give me any problems. I feel pretty confident in these tires. They are "all-weather" tires, after all.
@@KingTheDreamer They do come in 20 inch. Check this link from Tirerack. It's a size chart. m.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=CrossClimate2
Hopefully, you'll be ready next time! That's why I made this video to help others make that decision. Especially here in TX, I don't think many people consider winter weather when it comes to buying tires.
@@hkn125 so far I have no complaints. I plan to do a second video sometime soon. To me, they still sound as quiet as they did when I first got them. The tread is still in excellent condition too. Overall, I still highly recommend these tires and I've even noticed quite a few cars here in Texas with the same tires. I guess people have been doing their research. 😁
For me, road noise got much more quiet than the Bridgestone Potenza tires I had on it. It's a very quiet and smooth feeling ride for me. The softer rubber soaks up a lot of sound in my case. As for fuel economy, I really have not noticed much of a difference. I also do not drive every day, so it's kind of hard for me to compare honestly. My car is a 2018, and I literally just hit about 20k miles. I did notice slight rolling resistance. Initially, it felt like I had to give the car a little more gas to get going from a stop. I don't notice that much anymore now, though.
I didn't notice any slipping when I drove into turns. I didn't go driving like a mad-man either, I recommend still driving as safely as possible, but over all, I only noticed some slipping on start up and of course with braking, they are not actual snow/ice tires but are very comparable. It was all very controllable when I did feel any slipping. Hope this helps!
Yes, exactly! For people like me who live in states that don't often get snow at all, they are a very good option. That's why I chose them. In Texas, we see some cold weather during the winter, but the last few years have brought ice and some snow. These tires are perfect for the weather we get here year round. I like that I don't have to purchase actual snow tires for the 2-3 weeks of ice and snow we get here. Changing tires every season in Texas would be painful for the little snow and ice we do get.
@@isee232 so i have had them on for a couple weeks and so far so good. i think i can say it actually improved my highway gas mileage..compared to continental touring.. sound is some improvement...fine in the rain and no snow yet.
@@tracy2762 Great to hear! I've got about 10,000 miles on mine now. No issues, no treadwear noticeable, and the ride and sound is still nice and quiet for me.
Lol! I am by far not rich. I chose to spend money where it matters. You know? I have to protect my investment in my car. These tires are much cheaper than wrecking my car because I had the wrong tires for the weather. 👍🏾
I don't blame you! I don't think I'll use any other tires again unless they make something even better or if I need dedicated snow tires. These tires have not let me down in any weather at all!

Wow! Thanks for sharing your story with us! I'm glad to hear the tires are serving you well! And thanks for watching too!
@@isee232 thank you, that's helpful
Just fitted these on my wife’s Subaru Forester (diesel manual) here in the U.K. will fit the same on our VW camper van when it needs tyres. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Nice! Congrats!
Hey man thanks for making this i live in the Midwest, My car is a 22 Camry xse AWD, and my factory tires are bad im getting these in about a mounth!
Sounds like a plan! Please come back and let us know how it works out for you. Personally, I was not impressed with the factory tires. I'm happy I changed mine out.
@@Quantum_Noir Did you get the tires? How did they work out for you if you did?
That Honda CRV guy is the reason why I'm also buying these tires
That's great! If it's the same video I saw, his video helped me make my decision too. At the end of the day, as long as your ride is safer because of your choice of tires, that's all that matters! 👍🏽
got me some on the way too!
@@nedaltrebor8553 sounds good! 👍🏽
Thanks for this. I just ordered 4 for a 2020 Nissan Rogue SL
Nice! Thanks for watching, and let us know what you think after you get them put on if you don't mind. 😁
Excellent video
I read that in Texas the heat in the summer can melt the tires. I don’t know how long you have had them. I am thinking of this, but I too am in Texas.
This storm was crazy. We were indeed NOT prepared.
Good looking out on the vid. We just got a Honda Passport, so idk if they come in 20s, but Imma check fr.
@@KingTheDreamer They do come in 20 inch. Check this link from Tirerack. It's a size chart.

Hopefully, you'll be ready next time! That's why I made this video to help others make that decision. Especially here in TX, I don't think many people consider winter weather when it comes to buying tires.
Nice review. Thanks.
Thanks for the info.
Any time! Thanks for watching! I plan to make an update videos soon, but almost 2 years later I am still VERY happy with my tires. 😊
Intelligent choice for Texans.
I totally agree...obviously, lol. It has been almost a year with these tires on my car and no issues or complaints at all!
@@isee232 Yep, for me in eastern Washington state I like Studless which wouldn't really make sense in Texas due to the wear factor.
How are these holding up one year later? Especially in terms of noise?
@@hkn125 so far I have no complaints. I plan to do a second video sometime soon. To me, they still sound as quiet as they did when I first got them. The tread is still in excellent condition too.
Overall, I still highly recommend these tires and I've even noticed quite a few cars here in Texas with the same tires. I guess people have been doing their research. 😁
Just got mine, good vid
Congratulations! Welcome to the club! Lol. Be sure to comment and let us know what you think!
I live in texas. How do they perform in texas heat
Great tyres but the only issue is to cant rotate these tyres they are directional only left has to stay on left right to right
Yes, that is a valid point. But it is a con I'm willing to take considering how well these tires have performed for me. 🤷🏽♂️
"take a little trip with me"
Any comment on noise or fuel economy impact? Thanks!
@@isee232 Road noise is fine plus the fact that you are super safe ! , mpg on my MKZ hybrid same as stock tires .
@@jimferere5044 Thanks for adding your feedback!
How's lateral grip on turns on ice?
I didn't notice any slipping when I drove into turns. I didn't go driving like a mad-man either, I recommend still driving as safely as possible, but over all, I only noticed some slipping on start up and of course with braking, they are not actual snow/ice tires but are very comparable. It was all very controllable when I did feel any slipping. Hope this helps!
Check this video out, he is driving on more ice than I was.
ua-cam.com/video/AQfOfuZgsMU/v-deo.html
How many days of ice yall get? 2 days? 😂
Smart decision though cause these do good in all weather.
Maybe 2 days every 2 years! 😂😂
On a side note, the new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally comes with these tires from the factory! 👍🏽
Maybe you should turn the camera the right way.
Hey, I'm new to making videos, I kind of figured that out after it was too late. 🤷🏽♂️ Gimme a break 😁. I will turn it the right way next time.
👍🏻🏴
those tires rate very high in snow..you really have no need for snow tires.
@@isee232 i had to wait a couple months from tire kingdom..no one had tires for honda crv.
@@tracy2762 I'm pretty confident that you will be happy you waited!
Rich people and their overpriced tires! All 4 of my tires cost the same as half of one of these! LOL!
Lol! I am by far not rich. I chose to spend money where it matters. You know? I have to protect my investment in my car. These tires are much cheaper than wrecking my car because I had the wrong tires for the weather. 👍🏾
Not to mention your personal safety and that of your family, you can’t put a price on that 👍🏻🇬🇧
What a dumbass
Nice try but it's NOT icy enough to test tires. LOL. Thanks anyway.
Just got them 1 week ago. Honda 2010. Now im waiting for snow.

@@e.m.h.5433 Hey, its Texas, we freak out when it gets cold enough for long sleeve shirts. 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Awesome tires I have them on 4 cars I have ,there that good
I don't blame you! I don't think I'll use any other tires again unless they make something even better or if I need dedicated snow tires. These tires have not let me down in any weather at all!
