If I have understood the person a little bit, I don't I don't think she saw it as a "sacrifice".
It was, a calling.
On the other hand, if all of us, did a wee little, of what Ruth did, then Ruth would't have to have done, as much as she did... :-)
Anyways, what I think we can "learn" from her, is this -
If we just do a wee little bit, to make sombody else's (your nearest needy neighbour, for example) life, a wee bit better, we may then get on our way, to make this world, a wee bit better place, to live in.
Don't ask for another Dr Ruth, there are not very many of her, to go around!

@Ice Queen: Dr. Ruth Pfau showed humanity to anyone regardless of religion, culture, upbringing. Therefore it does not matter that she was a catholic nun and a dedicated and faithful christian.
I agree with you there is no religion greater than humanity. Religious is her personal matter important thing is she was a great lady she helped humanity, not religion.
