My on the go rig is an Acer nitro, that i bought second hand for 300 euro. (I7-7700hq, 1050 4gb, 16gb ram and 500gb ssd) Its like 5 yo, but i changed the thermal paste and fixed the hindge (its was totally broken) and its still good for smaller projects at work, and for the uni projects. I have a higher end desktop at home, and the only thing i miss when im using my laptop in dorm, is my secondary monitor...
A tool is a tool as long as you get something productive out if it. I use sketchup for massing because I know how to use it fast and efficiently before I move on to BIM software. Some firms still use sketchup. Don’t put something down just because it may not benefit you.
