I'm a simple man; I see David Bazan, I click like
I love such simple(r) plans!
Always wild to hear David sing about his dad, who was my jazz band director in college. David came to all of our concerts, he was a very proud son! Two great and very talented men.
Wow 😮
Wonderful songs; unexpected melodies and chord arrangements.
It sounds silly but these Dave/KEXP videos are kind of the throughline of my adult life. It's like checking in with old friends every couple years as you get older and gentler.
I feel the same
The best songwriter / lyricist of a generation. Never stop, Dave.
Edit: I’ve never seen Dave smile so freely and genuinely in an interview. It’s great!
That is some sexy bass and guitar tones! Whoever engineers this show does a fantastic job!
First Drum Set :: Since the very first time I heard someone playing the quads in a marching band, I knew I wanted to play them more than anything. I played percussion in concert band all through grade school. Jazz band, show choir combo, and concert band all through jr high. As a freshman in high school, I did my time hauling a bass drum in marching band while continuing in all other musical ensembles available to me. As my seniority progressed, so did my skill and adroitness as a percussionist. The scholastic hierarchy shifted. Til my time came. When it was my turn to helm the quads. The fulfillment of a child's life dream coming true. By the time it was my time, the band director decided he preferred to have the most skilled drummers play the snare. So, it never happened. It's like a ghost dream.
So lovely to see you smiling like this, Dave!
Super good set, thanks KEXP!
Wow, how have I only discovered this band now?! Thanks KEXP for always showing us new music!
listen to control, his 2002 album.
Dive back into all the live sets on this channel. Pedro the lion and David Bazan.
Oh you're in for a treat.
Oh yes, what a gift!
Dig deep… a lot to discover from this folk maestro
Wow KEXP. I feel so old (almost 35) seeing how bands from high school aged with me.
Almost 40 myself. I was 19 when Control came out. Hugely influential record for me, as a sad, tender hearted, alienated, poetry scribbling, guitar playing charismatic Christian fundamentalist youth.
I left the faith around the same time as David, and we have had similar journeys before and since. Even grew up in the same places.
It’s really a gift to be able to share the journey from a distance with such a beautiful poet and songwriter.
Absolute legend
Just hear about this band because the bassist of Built to Spill had a Pedro the Lion t shirt. Glad I checked them out!! Awesome music.

First drum set is in Pedro the lion's top7 (with Secret of the Easy Yoke, Bad Diary Days, Options, Second Best, Rapture & Bands with Manager)
beautiful band!
Discovered another one gem, thanks to KEXP.
YESSSSSS I've been waiting for this
Saw him recently on this tour.
Like seeing an old friend.
Thanks for the tunes Dave.
Sounds great, super band ;)
Sounds great!
*Please wear a mask when you watch!
Great as always.
Love this! Im a big fan!
David I still have your Auto graphped "Moose with guitar as antlers 2011 Living room tour", flyer you signed, and fucked up, and said "ooops" too, and still wrote out my name. Thanks dude.
And I try to play "Hot Girls" acoustic from time to time. bless you sir.
Sooooo awesome sound quality !!!
I am so grateful that Pedro the Lion is coming to play the indie music scene desert of Jacksonville, Fl next month. Jack Rabbit's is a small, dive bar venue and it will be great to see them there. I got my tickets as soon as I found out. Not hatin' on my new home town, but Jax just doesn't draw the music I like so I'm driving to Orlando and Tampa.
Amazing set!! Fan for life here! 🤙
cool! I like it!
Music ❤
Well done Bazan!
Holy shit, what they do at 7 minutes is amazing,
So damn good
Fantastic! Dig'n the piratecore on that drummer too.
Nice
I wish Dave Bazan and Damien Jurado would start a band.
They actually had a band together back in their teens (same highschool I believe), called Coolidge. Guess we can always send in the fan mail for a reunion there haha.
Casey Affleck on drums, sick
oh FUCK YES
I want to hear a Scotts Valley record!
You guys should have All Them Witches back.
If you ever need a drummer, hit me up! Hahaha
danm - bazan is a good bass player.
Is this a different band than the last Pedro record? Seems like it, right?
Different drummer. Guitarist I believe just got a haircut and a belly haha.
no me dan permiso de llorar en la oficina pero estoy a nada de romper esa norma
Love to see Timothee Chalamet enjoying his new career as the drummer for Pedro the Lion
and Dean Norris on vocals and bass!
Acting can only take you so far 😂
Thought it was Tig Notaro
Is the bass waaayyy too low in anyone else's opinion?
I love Dave's bass play...but the show at The Observatory in Santa Ana was extremely disappointing. Perhaps, the cause was a holiday weekend. Dave...bring it next time
i was there. why did you think it was disappointing? the low turn out? I thought they played really well.
@@dkmagos I agree! The band played well. The show was underwhelming compared to the energy played with Pedro when they performed at The Observatory for the Phoenix LP. In addition, your point is well taken about the turn out. I felt, somewhat, sad about the turn out. I did wonder if that had an effect; especially, on the eve of a holiday. I really appreciate you asking. I love ...I think, we love..this band...maybe the last show established an expectation that should not have been there. Anyway, want to hang and talk about music sometime!! Hahah!!
@@scottflores2502 yeah man! I want Dave to have all the success , but I know he maintains a small crew of devoted fans. I think that was the 8th time I’ve seen him. It was a bit lower key, but the fan base isn’t a bunch of 20 somethings either ha. Yeah we can chat music anytime
@@dkmagos Wow!!! How long have you been following Pedro? I think we may be in the same time range!!
WTF is Joe Rogan doing in a band
Unveiling actual talent without talking non-stop!
It would be a real feat to create music anymore more boring then this. This is the most divorced music I’ve ever heard.
Try turning on the radio.
And that's why he's a legend and you're not, I suppose? What on earth DO you like? What do people pay to hear you cover?
Wow, this is really awful! 😱
One of the most boring band so far..
At least we are not stroggs!
One of the most useless comments so far...
Listen to their KEXP Control set to get a better idea of the band's arc
