The decision of the State government to increase sales tax on petrol and diesel, thereby increasing the fuel price by about ₹3 a litre from Saturday, has drawn widespread criticism. The Opposition BJP has announced a State-wide protest on Monday.
People across Bengaluru, meanwhile, expressed shock over the decision of the State government.

Rural areas enjoy daytime power cuts in exchange for the free electricity. Now they pay for diesel for their generators. In such places the hotel rents ( specifically mookambika) have gone up from 1800 to 2500 pre and post congress rule.

I’m not a supporter of Indian National congress party, however I feel media is blowing this 3 rupees hike per litre out of proportion. Telangana petrol costs 5 rupees more than that of Karnataka’s, whereas Andhra Pradesh has petrol costing 10 rupees more. Since Karnataka has voted for Congress and so did Telangana, I feel people of Telangana should protest for the fuel price to be reduced so that it could compare to that of Karnataka’s. The bottom line being , no government can roll out freebies without these stupid hikes, I hope people of every state come to terms on what basis they choose their governments. Freebies are going to put a burden on every person. I hope judiciary steps in the future and ban any entity which promises free bus rides for women, free electricity, free water, monthly 8500 thaka thak Bull Shit etc. If courts do not stop these politicaa entities from making these absurd and impractical promises, India will never develop and we as a nation will be in huge debts .

@@sadeeshck Well my friend, Karnataka has the highest road tax. So people are already paying upfront when they buy a vehicle. So this 85/litre is not something that reduces the overall cost. Now there is additional burden.
