  • Yesterday marked the 7th anniversary of the passing of the late great King of The Blues, Mr. B.B. King. I'm not sure that there's a guitarist out there who hasn't heard of, let alone been influenced directly or indirectly by, ol' B. In his memory, I jammed on a pastiche of B's slow blues style, with shades of his first big hit "3 O'Clock Blues" (originally composed by Lowell Fulson) and his early '60s classic "How Blue Can You Get?" -- I think I can also hear a bit of "Sweet Little Angel" and perhaps even a pinch of "Homeward Bound" by Simon & Garfunkel (at least in the chromatic walk down to G from B-flat in the chord progression)...
Enjoy and please excuse any mistakes, sloppiness, the fact that I definitely need to woodshed some more King licks, and the weak play on words for the title (however, I figured it had more of a ring to it, no matter how corny, than calling it "B.B. King Tribute Blues Pastiche").
    Thank you, B!
