I lived in Wapping and it was the early 80's (the Thatcher era when city traders made loadsamoney) when they were converting them!
No mention of the docks in Wapping being an important part of getting goods into London! Famous tea warehouse! Regeneration did not start until late 70s/early 80s! Lots of bomb sites until then! There were 'bonded' warehouses (storage of alcohol brought in on ships)! There are 2 beautiful churches! There are 3 beautiful parks!
So vert interesting glad that space was saved as a memorial garden 😂
The River Police Museum has 'open days' during the year!
How did they spell Smirk? My ancestors were called that but spelt it Smyrk
It's St. Katharine Docks. Not St Katharine's Dock
