I was playing with updating drivers and as the result lost sound. The only thing that helped is go to device manager -View - device by drivers and then remove all audio related drivers. Then after couple restarts it backs to normal
thank you so much, I had this problem after downloading the latest realtek audio which turned out to be incompatible with my laptop, so I downloaded the driver from based on my laptop model name and it worked.

Have you considered an off topic channel for stuff like this? The algorithm is going to kill your gaming channel if you dont keep the uploads consequently on topic.
