Hi Rodger, I'm so happy I caught this video, when it said you loaded it 15 minutes ago. Because, I watch you on YT on my TV, I always hit Like button. But the views numbers doesn't change. So I re-watched this one, On my phone and hit the Like button and the views went from 18 to 19 views. Just letting you know, cuz all the videos I've watched of yours on my TV isn't giving you credit. Glad I found this out. Now if anyone else is only watching you on their TV, and you hit the Like button, it doesn't give you all the views you deserve. I love you videos, so I'll be rewatching you on my phone or computer. I want to make sure your likes truly add up with your viewing data. Thanks for the great video, I think your clay pots with the holes in them are cool. 😎

Thanks for the detailed video. Interesting to know all the “whys” you choose to do something.

Thanks for the video. I hope yours does well. I've got an ancient anceps I acquired that's gong to need some serious work come spring. A minor point, It's the Brazilian Laelias that got reclassified as Cattleyas. Anceps is one of the Mexican Laelias that are still holding their own as a separate genus.

The larger piece has several new growths - the smaller piece has no leaves and no signs of life (yet).

Hi Roger! I do remember when you repotted this Laelia. I hope it recovers. Fingers crossed!

If the Laelia keep underperforming in the pot I would advice you to mount it! These species are prime candidates for mounting, especially in a relative cool and humid place! My Mexican Laelias didn’t take their pots well past winters, & when put on cork rebounded really well. In my experience these species are really tough; got a three bulb division of a L. gouldiana which didn’t do anything for several months and kept it on a bench outside, but it is producing a new growth (& it’s still outside in the garden).

In my opinion I would have 1 in the clay pot and 1 in a normal one to see how they go. Also the cut off bulbs I would have it in moss to see if anything happens, you never know lol.

Thanks for showing the process of elimination on diagnoses of a non-grower. I have one that has not grown, from when I bought it. 7 months and I am about to give up on it. Thank you for the video.

Hopefully this one will also grow / recover the same way as the one you show at 10:16 🤞. Looking forward to updates.

I think it was a great idea to move them out of the clay pot, I think all that evaporative cooling at the roots slowed them down. Laelia roots don’t like to grow when they’re cold, definitely don’t like to be cold and wet.
