I love the Necroscope novels of Brian Lumley! From Necroscope I to The Touch.... But more so the Vampire World Trilogy!!! I felt sad upon learning of his passing. But he left a load of literary legacy for all vampire story fans like me! I hope that one day, I would see Harry Keogh and Sunside/Starside on the silver screen!!!! Love and admiration to Mr Brian Lumley, from the Philippines!!!! 💙💛❤️
Brian had a way of making his stories so believable that you could swear that you've seen these vampires in everyday life. A great storyteller that will be missed.
No matter what genre I write, Lumley remains a huge influence. I just loved the wild energy and creativity, humor and sheer fun he injected into every story. One thing I always liked about Lumley is he had a real working-class sensibility that manifested in his characters. It made them more relatable for me.
Oh man, I didn't know he passed away this year. Lumley was the only writer that I know of who has truly reimagined Vampires in a fundamental way that has not been seen since Brahm Stoker. He is one of the biggest influences on me. His Necroscop series helped inspire me to write my own Vampire novel, and it is Brian Lumley that I have to thank. If it wasn't for Lumley we would have not gotten the Legacy of Kain video games, and the Tzcimitze clan from Vampire the Masquerade. He is not as well known as Anne Rice, but his influence did impact many. My biggest fear now is that Hollywood is going buy the film rights from his estate, and they are going to take a steaming pile of crap on his work. I hope to any God that cares to listen that doesn't happen, and if it does. Then I hope Lumley's Wampiri come out of the grave to eat them all alive because the vampires he wrote were the scariest in literature. I thank him and congratulate him for all the stories he wrote and how his books had an impact on me. May he rest in peace, and like his novels, maybe live on forever in Undeath.
I missed Brian's brand of horror with Vampires. He kinda sorta walked away from it over the years and went into different directions and boy was it felt he was just that good and missed
Despite the pain he found his will. Despite the chaos he learnt to be still. Despite the fear he found his might. Despite the darkness, he saw his light. Rest in peace Brian Lumley.
I was in a band called Necroscope when I was a teenager in the 90's. Obscure local band. I was looking to see if any of my old friends had posted any recordings of it and this came up. We actually broke up because our bassist died. That feels like a pretty crazy coincidence so I am going to order and read this book now. I am surprised that I had not heard of Brian Lumley before because I am a fan of vampire and supernatural fiction. I even worked for White Wolf for a bit. I'll come back to update this comment after I have read it to show my appreciation. I am sure it will be amazing judging from the fans commenting.
@@TheVampiresCastle it's been forever since I've read any. I read the main series and lost years. And the brothers trilogy was effing amazing. I definitely want to pick up the series again
I didn't know he'd passed. R.I.P. to the legend - and may he travel the Mobius continuum in peace. Just imagine what Peter Jackson or Guillermo del Toro could make of the Necroscope universe!
Brian Lumley very quickly became my favourite author after I first read the Necroscope series. I’ve read the original 5 novels 17 times and the rest multiple other times. The Mythos Omnibus is also one of my favourite of Brian’s. I for one will greatly miss his writing!
Shit..I’m very saddened to hear this. His books were always in my local bookshop window when I was younger in the mid eighties. I read The Necroscope series and bloody loved them with their fantastic world building, originality and readability. I’ve turned many of my younger friends on to him down the years. A true British original. I read a while back about the possibility of a TV series based on his books, I think his Whamphyri probably influenced the Underworld film series. Has anyone else heard anything?
I haven't heard anything, actually. I'm not aware of Necroscope being in development anywhere at the moment, but obviously, that could change at any time.
@@TheVampiresCastleI came across an article in IMDB a few years back that talked about possible adaptations of Lumley’s work being looked at by Revelations Entertainment which is Morgan Freemans company.
I have the entire Vampire Wars series and have yet to start it. I just finished Dagon's Bell and other Discords, which was Lovecraftian stories by Lumley. Very creepy, very well-written, with a fair measure of humour and adventure as well. I am sure Brian Lumley will be rediscovered and become newly celebrated again. He was 86 when he died January 2024. He will be missed.
Sad to read. Was gutted to find my entire box of the necroscope series ruined when my garage flooded 😢. Scariest and most corrupt conceptions of vampire I encountered, and loved the mythos as it developed into the otherworldly ancients...

Oh sorry! Didn't see this response at first! I actually made the decision before launching this channel that I wouldn't do reviews of singular IPs. There are UA-camrs who do excellent book reviews and movie reviews and comic reviews, and I just don't think I can add anything of value there. Even though, those videos would probably soar in the algorithm! :) BUT, there's nothing saying I won't reference Necroscope book 1 when it pertains to Vampire subject I'm talking about! That will definitely happen! :) Thanks for asking!
I didn't know he had died. I was actually just searching for reviews and synopsis because I haven't read any of those books in years and I was watching a video about a tidally locked earth and it made me think of Sunside/Starside(from later books. One of the adjunct series)
So obviously a nod to fallen angels and the Nephilim. Interesting time in world history for Brian Lumley to die as world events escalating pointing to Revelation like prophecy fulfilment.
Brian has been my favorite author since 91-92. I had the pleasure of befriending his son Richard and corresponding with him. Lumley has made me expect more from an author because of how well his books read. He will be sorely missed.

His whole Necroscope series are an awesome read.
He's gone to join the Great Majority.
Absolutely.

Necroscope is a DOPE name for a band.
Lumley was the best. From Necroscope, to his vampire shorts, to Titus Crow. What a talent, what a loss…
Harry was like Neo. It gets crazy
Oh it does? I've only read the first book so far.

Oh no he died!
Rest in peace to one of the greatest writers ever.
Brian will sure to continue to do what he did in life, i am sure of it.
Damn is 2024 going take the vampire story tellers?

I haven't read any of Lumley's Lovecraft stories. I'll have to add some of that to my reading list. Thanks, John!

Would you do a deep dive into the Necroscope 1 st book?

Pretty amazing series of stories, disturbing and gross and absolutelly enthralling. An excellent obit, sir! Well done!
