Definitely one of my favorite years in music!! As it's shown here, in my opinion, if there was a year that delivered music in so many ways and styles, this one did it!! As always...Thank you Hot Music Charts for putting together such awesome videos and for keeping the memories alive!! ❤❤❤
Agreed. However, there are some that are forgotten that are among from 100-1. One of them is 'Jacob's Ladder' (17:24) that even though topped the charts, it might be the single most forgotten #1 hit in history!
Madonna & Whitney Houston are my favorite female musicians in the world!!! It was a great year for both ladies. My boy Bryan Adams released a very underrated album that year. Also, Aerosmith released a true comeback album. Aerosmith's Angel is one of my favorite songs ever
I graduated high school in June of 1987. What a wonderful time to be a teenager! The eighties was a wonderful decade to be alive and also an amazing decade for music!
Madonna, Prince , George Michael , fleetwood mac , MJ , belinda Carlisle - Janet Jackson - Duran Duran .you don’t get a better selection of great music than 87 🥰
That song Luca gave me goosebumps. Throughout childhood I went through some abuse like that, and 1987 was pretty good, but also very taxing on my mental and emotional health, especially from late summer on.
Fun fact: Fleetwood Mac had three songs by three different singers that peaked in the top 20 in 1987: Christine McVie - Little Lies (#4) Lindsey Buckingham - Big Love (#5) Stevie Nicks - Seven Wonders (#19)
I used to watch MTV obsessively in 1987 to try and catch all three. Then I fell in love with Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Prince, George Michael, Tina Turner, Expose, Crowded House, Motley Crue, Miami Sound Machine, Whitney Houston, Paul Simon, Samantha Fox, etc, as well.
And not for the first time either. They had four top ten hits from 1977: Lindsey Buckingham - Go Your Own Way (#10) Stevie Nicks - Dreams (#1) Christine McVie - Don’t Stop (#3) Christine McVie - You Make Loving Fun (#9) They had 3 top twenty hits from 1979: Lindsey Buckingham - Tusk (#8) Stevie Nicks - Sara (#7) Christine McVie - Think About Me (#20) 1987’s Tango In The Night was the third time all three songwriters scored separate top twenty hits in the same year off the same album.
I've been on a nostalgia childhood phase lately all things to do with the 80s the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so dearly oh hail it,1985 the heart of the 80s the greatest year but for me this here 1987 is the heart of my era from 85 to 89 didn't want it to end when the 90s came that changed massively, bein a kid u did what u did not a care in the World memories goin thru pics u took alot in but not enough to remember a young close knit family fun food friends at primary school parties the Vibes are in the another World the Music aswell we had 2channels in this Country the best toys and cartoons thinking we were the kids of the World didn't worry for money time weather and aging getting old and stress and pressures we face thru to now the way it is all going. The Imagination creation u did rules life seem simple time seemed to double it rocked.Time Machine but 2wishes please one to see how i was doin and second the 80s last forever and didn't leave hey Fairytale Magical and dreams we have
Actually, in my view, 1987 outdoes 1986, 1988 and most definetely 1989. 1987 seems to be the most upbeat year out of the decade. I own a copy of all of these songs and in following the Hot 100 back then, most of the songs between 200 to 100 didn't even make the top 20.
Life is doin that now cause of speed rush and panic in our everyday survival lives. It didn't in the 80s for me if u were a kid like me it lasted double it seemed
I can see why many of bottom Pure Pop songs landed where they did, unoriginal, and had no hook. Crossover hits from the Rock, Country, and R&B are usually decent since they were already vetted on the other charts.
There are a couple between #91-#95 that actually reached #8 on the Billboard charts instead of #9 in 1987. "The Final Countdown" by Europe and "Big Time" by Peter Gabriel.
You are correct! The Final Countdown by Europe peaked at #8 (2 weeks) Big Time by Peter Gabriel peaked at #8 (2 weeks) I really shouldn't be commenting when I'm overtired! I originally commented with Carrie by Europe...wrong song!
I'm looking at the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending March 28, 1987 (via American Radio History/Billboard) online and it says "The Final Countdown" peaked at #8 for two weeks. You got "Big Time's" peak correctly, however.
@@BroughSistah2629 Yeah, I corrected my comment. I pulled out my Billboard hard covers to confirm, and mistakenly looked up Carrie and not TFC. Kudos to you for catching that. I thought those peaks looked off when I was watching the video.
Yes, you are correct thank you. The positions in the video are right, though, as they are sandwiched between a song that reached #8 for 1 week ("Just To See Her") and 3 weeks ("Catch Me I'm Falling"). Thanks for pointing out the typos.
Number 186 - Never Let Me Down by David Bowie. A truly underrated pop gem of the 1980s that never gets played anymore. It's never included in any of Bowie's compilations despite being a top 30 hit. I guess it suffered from being the title track of a rather forgettable album.
I wanted to know how much from the songs I know. It are 57, 10 because I hate them, 4 because of the cover, 1 because they made it made it back in the 90s in the hitlist and 1 because I like the original from the 60s (but the film this song version is from is also great) , lol
Never Gonna Give You Up while topping the charts all over Europe in 1987, didn't got released in the US until the beginning of 1988. These charts are based on the US. It appears on the 1988 200 songs video which "Hot Music Charts" did a few weeks ago.
Rickrolled yeah some countries in the World get released early or later where they are from also what time of the Year it goes as base of the Charts go from start or end of the year. Not just that Song but Together Forever and Whenever You Might Need Somebody

Great job! So nice to see some forgotten gems from 101-200. Do more years please! Thank you!!!

Janet Jackson 😍
too many unforgettable songs in 1987.... thank you.. looking forward to 1986 next.
Yay awesome thanks for this video love it
Thankyouso much👏
Madonna, Prince , George Michael , fleetwood mac , MJ , belinda Carlisle - Janet Jackson - Duran Duran .you don’t get a better selection of great music than 87 🥰
Yes indeed!!!😁😁👍👍
Madonna turned out to be one pathetic human being
The greatest album ever recorded came out it 1987
The Lonesome Jubilee by the 2nd greatest songwriter ever…John Mellencamp
That song Luca gave me goosebumps. Throughout childhood I went through some abuse like that, and 1987 was pretty good, but also very taxing on my mental and emotional health, especially from late summer on.
Too bad many musicians here have passed away.
Fun fact: Fleetwood Mac had three songs by three different singers that peaked in the top 20 in 1987:
Christine McVie - Little Lies (#4)
Lindsey Buckingham - Big Love (#5)

es de las pocas bandas con tres lideres vocales, aunque Toto podria tener tambien esa marca (Paich-Lukather Y Kimball)

New Order-True Faith should have been way much higher. I love it .

wish I could like this 10 times. Not the best year in music, but my favorite year in music.

When music was worth listening to.... Madonna is amazing.
I tell you bro
The 80s rocked!!!
FACTS OF LOVE - KARYN WHITE . (1986) .

1987 was a great year

Thank you!!!!!!!
1987 music is the best to me forever! Cool!
What a big year

Europe DID hit #3 for two weeks in the fall of 1987 with "Carrie", however.

hope you also do these kind from the 90's
1990 and 1991
Jam packed!!!!
"Carrie" by Europe, "Lady In Red" by Chris de Burgh, "This must Be love" by Whitesnake..how many memorias of 1987
I turned a year old this year but it's one of my favorite

World Party's Ship of Fools (Save Me From Tomorrow) at #184! Such a shame America ignored their excellent "Goodbye Jumbo" album in 1990!
Company B's "Fascinated". Who would have thought a freestyle dance pop song would define 1987 music IMO.
I am here because of my favorite band Bon Jovi 💯❤️
Best era
In which website did you get the information to create this list?
I wanted to know how much from the songs I know. It are 57, 10 because I hate them, 4 because of the cover, 1 because they made it made it back in the 90s in the hitlist and 1 because I like the original from the 60s (but the film this song version is from is also great) , lol
Where is Walk Like an Egyptian? That was number one into 87.
I’ve been in love before by Cutting Crew peaked an NUMBER ONE
Nope. That was I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight.
U2, Whitney Houston and George Michael had two songs in the top ten this year, sadly the two latter have passed.
#103; their only top 40 hit.
200 songs from 1987 and not one appearance by Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up'. This is almost a llorkciR.
Never Gonna Give You Up while topping the charts all over Europe in 1987, didn't got released in the US until the beginning of 1988. These charts are based on the US. It appears on the 1988 200 songs video which "Hot Music Charts" did a few weeks ago.
I’m out. I came here because I thought it would be here

sign your name Terence Trent D'Arby
paradise city guns n roses
Circle in the sand Belinda Carlisle??????
Some of those songs would have had a higher rating if it wasn't in between years. Their points got split up.
George Michael
And I thought ‘Walk Like An Egyptian’ by The Bangles was a big hit in 1987. I was wrong all along or I may have missed that on this list.
nope it was on the charts in 1986
@@barrydavid6634 But due to the Billboard year it was the #1 song for 1987(Year was December 1-November 30)
Les falta el grupo "Information Society"

This was the year of U2. However the best song was New Order’s True Faith.
👏

you forgot Motortown by The Kane Gang
Peaked at #36, so it missed the Top 200
Where's INXS???
1988
Cup 6 Hard Mode Unlocked Sa Uphill Rush 3
God, watching Aretha and George Michael... even hick rock like Georgia Satellites and today all we have is dreck like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion and so many unmemorable, unremarkable talent, and the only thing coming close is Weeknd only because he respects the 80s.
Wow a lot good artists with crap songs
