the bike really started to rattle after 4,000 miles. it always had a little start up rattle but now it's bad. even my mechanic said get it to the dealer to see if it is serious.

If that little bit of chatter when the engine is hot is what everyone has been crying about, that's literally nothing. I guess I have that too and I don't even pay attention to it.
You see, I had a 2015 MT09/FZ09. THAT bike had some horrible cam chain noise that no dealer could solve. Easily 5 times louder than this little bit of K5 chatter. It was a well known issue on the MT09 that I finally solved with a manual tensioner.
I guess that's why this tiny bit of chatter doesn't even bother me in the least. Sounds like normal noise for a hot engine.

The way I see it, tons of people are having this issue with no known casualties. I think it is just the way it is. My '23 naked does it too.

The valves are out of spec. My 24 model started that and i took it to the dealership to have the service bulletin done under warranty. All 16 valves were out of spec. No more noise and the bike is smoother than ever. No more noise at all, ever.

Unfortunately, yes, but Suzuki stepped up and made it right and assume that have corrected it on the assembly line. That's all you can really ask for this day and age. I don't blame them per say, as other manufacturers are having similar issues all due to euro 5 emissions.

If you change engine oil, when warm up ride the bike at Higher Revs or Rpms so the pressure will force engine oil into the tensioner and oil pressure will lift it. Quick fix.

I put 20w50 in it.. it made no difference. I have switched back to 10w40.

Does the noise go away if you pull in the clutch. Could just be the clutch plates, which is nothing to worry about.

Yeah i have same. Just drive it and it sounds great under power. Mines still under warranty but when thats over ill look at installing manual cam chain adjuster

I thought the whole idea of a hydraulic cct is that is automatically adjusts with the dynamics of the engine. Surely fitting a manual unit could cause some longer term issues.(?)

@@Funky_Geek if only suzuki would make a statement on why they fitted this style . Is it needed ? Is it seen as the answer to the poor auto adjusting ratchet type. Or the answer to maintenance free . And they have scored an own goal ? Hope someone brings out a replacement simple bolt and locknut adjuster type or identifies one that already exists that will bolt straight on.
My only niggle is ive seen a couple owners report they got adjuster AND chain guides replaced under warranty . Whether that is 100% true or a dealer scam to add on more labour/parts to a warranty claim , or over exaggeration comments from users is anyones guess .

My Gsx s1000 2023 got this sound too. Not sure is it typical k5 engine sound like that or may be the tensioner is the main problem in all new model suzuki naked and touring bike?
