It needs some sort of a remake. Probably one with a ranking system and newer graphics at the very least. But damn if it couldn't be an e-sport. It's mist that the game was released before e-sports were really a thing yet.
What really helped refine my improv was just playing through each game start to finish, especially on Sick difficulty. The challenges the games make you go through and some of the missions really test your skills and knowledge of the game mechanics. It won't help you with the Thugpro esque skills such as airshuffles or boostplants but those are really only used once you know how to string combos together already. THPS 4, THPS 2, and THUG 1 and 2 have some of the most difficult challenges that will really help you refine your core combo techniques.
The 24 mil isn't a big deal. What got me was the part after that where he discusses linking grinds and flip tricks while demonstrating them. That's where we find out that the voiceover wasn't added on in post. He was actually talking to us while doing the triple wallplant, the boostplant, the gap under the water tower, and all that. That's how comfortable Protocol is.
Appreciate someone noticing. Also suppp hitstun. If you’re not in the NFA Improv discord, hit me up w/ a reddit dm @ /u/AntVenom. It’s the main discord improv peeps use.
So I just saw this in my recommended vids and this basically just makes me feel better that I basically have a mastery of the basics and am ready to more or less improve by learning the *kinda broken* mechanics of the franchise more so then just stringing very tame combos.
I've thought about doing a vid about this. It's nice to see someone trying to help new players. I wanted to talk about the fundamentals of trick usage and spinning the right way. I think it's something newer players significantly overlook.
i never knew about improv style till after i saw thug pro videos and due to your vid i didnt even know it was possible in the original games too haha thanks gona give this a try
I hit on spinning the tricks though :P. But yeah, in some recording attempts, I hit on tricksets. Really all that matters though is personal preference.
This is basically the only aspect of the game that I'm actually very good at. At the whole balancing, I'm just mediocre. Things like butt slaps, boost plants, etc, I don't understand at all. But I can do improv easily. My record isn't that high though. Maybe 6 million points or something like that?
What you did but didn't explain when your brain is going so fast that you can't plan anything. If you feel like you can't do anything more atleast get off your board (like you did for a split second) to maybe be able to find something rather than ending your combo. This is for people that score high maybe 500,000+ or even a mil combo but don't focus on this.
Not specifically, but given the exact inputs that this game has, it's generally not a great idea. I mix using both. I run with analog, and do everything else with dpad. I believe a player by the name of edem uses analog, but don't quote me on that.
You're absolutely right, only simulation sports games are allowed to exist aren't they? I hope you never ever hear of a game called 'Mario Kart' - you won't believe how unrealistic that is.

This should be an esport. It's exciting to watch and unlike any other game.
Absolutely agree. Its bad, that only a little community cares about the game. But it would be awesome, like an eSport game of elimination lmao

That would be amazing.

Improv is and always was the only way i play thps, I hate memorizing and executing the same lines over and over. I love the flow and the reactions
Casual 24 mill at the beginning 🤣🤣

Osiris yes
Helpful video as a newbie but it's a shame there aren't more tutorials to improve
Thanks for the good info Ant
is spinning with shoulder buttons the only way to go? ive been casually getting high combos without it and am wondering if it is necessary to relearn
great video, only thing I felt that was missing was hitting on spinning tricks properly and unique tricksets
I hit on spinning the tricks though :P. But yeah, in some recording attempts, I hit on tricksets. Really all that matters though is personal preference.
AntVenom unless I missed it, I just mean properly vs improperly spinning tricks
AntVenom you hit on it by quickly brushing past“you can start spinning your tricks”
