Superb. Well explained about the small screw being there. Struggled for well over an hour trying to get the bulbholder back. Then watched your video and went straight in. Thank you for doing this film
Saved me . Been driving in the dark with 1 light for 2 weeks. Couldn't figure it out and kept reading Philip's head. Definitely a T20 Torx, as per the other comments
Thanks for this video , it allowed me to quickly change the bulbs in my Astra , I would have struggled without this , so thanks again for taking the time out to show this.
Thanks man! Spent a lot of time trying to put the bulb back in. After watching your video took 5 seconds as I knew exactly the position. Did work without loosening up the screw though.
Hi R4mans, just discovered that the facelift model Astra J has T20 Torx screws. Tip: DO NOT REMOVE THEM, only loosen them or (as I did), you'll end up in all manner of difficult places (one of the screws fell into the light mounting. needed a magnetic extender to rescue it!!).
Just wondering does bulb filament (coil part) is pointing downwards or upwards when fitting ,i realised after fitting both ,they are pointing downwards ,wondering it makes any difference if coil part facing up.
The screw is a Torx T20 on all Astra J models and you don't have to remove the air filter cover, the whole filter box just pops out giving much improved access!!!
A great help thanks - LHS headlight far harder to do than the RHS!! Realising I could just pull out the water inlet pipe made such a difference although I have really struggled with the screws. I'm surprised they didn't creat a twist lock mechanism.
Thank you very much! This was an easy job, thanks to your clear instructions! (Although in my case the screw locking the bulb was a Torx, and not a Philips screw)
Thanks for the video. If you ever touch the new bulb with your bare fingers it can cause the bulb to fail very soon if not straight away. If i touch a bulb be mistake or use a second hand one I recommend wiping it with alcohol or acetone nail varnish remover before fitting it.
Hi I've noticed that we have the hir 9005 bulbs in our gtc 2015 but I can't seem to pull the drivers side out ...or will I need to undo the torx screw to withdraw it as your video cheers
Thanks so much for this tutorial, I had to change the same bulb you were demonstrating. Only, on my Astra they weren't Phillips screws, THEY WERE SECURITY SCREWS!!! You know, those ones that are like a six-pointed star. Honest to god, why?!
Thanks for this useful video, without which I would not have known how to do the job. Even with the video, which explains that you need to loosen the screws, it was still quite difficult. The RHS Main beam bottom screw is not accessible by most TX20 fittings, I had to bend a L shaped TX20 key to get it to fit inside the headlight casing. I first went to Halfords to see if they had a Universal Joint small enough to fit a TX20 socket inside the headlight case, but they didn't. For the two dipped beams, I had to use an illuminated mirror and get the trick of working with a mirror. Very tricky job.
Great video, haynes manual does not talk about loosening the screws, a good tip is to use a borescope to view where the screws are IF you have one, a huge pain in the arse to do some of the lights, you do need to loosen one of the screws to get the bulb screwed back in as the video suggests.
I love how with most cars (but mainly the Astra) you have to dismantle half the engine bay just to change a headlight bulb, and how do you prevent the small, fiddly silver retaining screw from falling into the headlight housing or getting lost in the engine bay when loosening it
Great video, and incredibly useful, most challenging but of this was unhooking the clips and pulling out the plug on the same side as the fuse box, air box side was easy
14 reg Astra 2.0 ltr CDTi SRI uses Torx and not Philips head screws for the H7 headlight bulbs. Either an error in the video or a change for some models/years.
Hi, I'm trying to fit led bulbs to my astra J but where the metal bracket holds it in place doesn't fit over my led bulbs. Do you know of any way to fitting them as they need some sort of way to hold it in place
Hi, just purchased a Astra J and would like to know would I be able to fit normal Philips led bulbs oppose to D1s bulbs which obviously come as standard. Would I also have to use canbus?? Would be very great full for any feedback.
D1S bulbs are xenon. You can't replace them with "normal" bulbs - halogen or LED. There's a bunch of LED bulbs showing up on the market to specifically replace xenon bulbs but don't bother with them, they're not plug & play and the light output is far worse than xenon bulbs.
Hi there I’ve changed my Astra headlight bulbs and beam and DRL now DRL don’t come one when start car got to turn headlight on to work even then don’t come on can you help with this one out LED H7 In headlights and 580 bulbs in DRL Thanks
recently changed the bulbs on my 1.4 t 2014 but foor some reason got fault coded 20/18 which is dipped beam lights even though they are both working any ideas why this might be ?
I've just changed my this morning. I read owner's manual and I got into it and changed with removing any screws. Bulb holder just twists. It a bit fiddly.
In trying to remove my dipped headlight on passenger side, how do you remove the fuse box to get to the bulb I have loosened the main bolts an it seems like it should pop out but it's not?ò
Good video watched to help me but I found that rather than take out the 6 screws if you pull the whole box it just pops out it dont have screws to hold it in place then it gives you even more space to work but that's only if it all models of the astra are the same I got a 2012 vx line 1.6t petrol
Good job, Do you think an LED plug and play kit would fit behind the dust cover on the astra J? Because of the fan on the back of an LED kit looks more bulky
My day light bulb fell off and went down into the lamp what can I use to get it out I tried to use a stick and sellotape lol didn’t work hope I don’t need to take the entire lamp off
Awkward yes, but not impossible even with my big hands. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was and next time round it’ll be done quicker. Only lost 1 screw 😅
Absolute palava.. the screws holding the bulb wereng philips.. they were t20 torx.. but alhamdulillah.. was going to do both sides so have fresh bulbs.. but forget it.. i'll do it tomorrow 😁
good vid thanks but the passenger side (UK) is bollox MF-er. I undid torx screw and it fell in the car innards somehow - then changed bub after tugging like fck at the bulb housing and prying up with screwdriver. Fitted bulb into the hole then stuffed garage hand towel (like kitchen roll but tougher) into the void and stuck the cover back on. Not sure if its going to fire up or hold or wobble all over the place but at least 2 lights now. That's the dumbest ever design for changing a sodding bulb. Good luck anyone still trying this.
Ok…ok if your doing that side of the car, the battery side is tight….my battery was much bigger than the car in the video…a 2014 car was torx not Phillips for the screw and you need a stubby driver or a suitable sockets …it’s a fiddly job…not a great design, the Mercedes and land rovers are better …no fiddle screws.
Superb. Well explained about the small screw being there. Struggled for well over an hour trying to get the bulbholder back. Then watched your video and went straight in. Thank you for doing this film

Very helpful thanks but christ did Vauxhall have to make them so bloody awkward to change! 😡🤬
They are a bastard

How many screws did you loosen per bulb?
@@MoutazKhaled Hi, there are two screws per bulb, opposite each other. Loosen them then turn the bulb anti clockwise.
@@andyroid7339 thanks mate, i heard in the video he had to loosen only one. Had to be sure wether one or both.
@@MoutazKhaled No problem. Hope it goes OK. For something that should be so simple it's a fiddly job.
Just wondering does bulb filament (coil part) is pointing downwards or upwards when fitting ,i realised after fitting both ,they are pointing downwards ,wondering it makes any difference if coil part facing up.
Thank you it help me alot i was struggling from over an hour 😢 but after watching this fixed it straight away really appreciate thank you once again 😊
Very helpful, just successfully changed mine using the exact same process. Thank you!!
Great video, many thanks. If there has ever been a case for paying Halfords to fit your bulbs, the Astra J is the car to do it on 😂
The screw is a Torx T20 on all Astra J models and you don't have to remove the air filter cover, the whole filter box just pops out giving much improved access!!!
Thank u bro

Thanks Graham. I forgot that the tube comes out. I removed the fuse box lid also to get a better view.
Thanks for these videos on changing light bulbs - the camera work showing the details is very useful.
Thank you very much! This was an easy job, thanks to your clear instructions! (Although in my case the screw locking the bulb was a Torx, and not a Philips screw)
Get a flat head stubby and twist 👍🏻
Thanks for the video. If you ever touch the new bulb with your bare fingers it can cause the bulb to fail very soon if not straight away. If i touch a bulb be mistake or use a second hand one I recommend wiping it with alcohol or acetone nail varnish remover before fitting it.

That last bulb you pointed at was the daylight running bulb and sidelight. Great videos all the same.
Hi could u help me..my astra j 2010 a coolant pipes getting hot wht ll be the reason wht shell I do any advice..
excellent video and a great help. I find if the whole air box is removed it will make it easier. But many thanks for your help
Great video, and incredibly useful, most challenging but of this was unhooking the clips and pulling out the plug on the same side as the fuse box, air box side was easy
Can you tell me the name of the tool you used to unscrew the screw that holds the bulb in?
Bit late lol, but if you're still wondering its a flat head screw driver
Thanx bra, i thought i was going to have to send the car into a workshop for a light bulb change, you saved me the embarrassment
Whats the size of screws holding a bulb? i'm missing some.
Danke für die Hilfe, thanks for helping.
Without this video ist could not repair my light.
And original service ist much expencive.
Great video will be changing mine tomoz

That air box just lifts out without unscrewing it
The astra manual say you just turn it anti clockwise and it comes out, why did you remove screws?

Wrong light bulb specs, you need H7 55w 12 v
thank you. could we see a video about how to replace the side blinker and front blinker bulbs? and what type of bulbs they are.
Super ! Sans cette vidéo je ne serait jamais arrivée
Cheers mate helped me out!
3:30 to anyone watching this part make sure to not unscrew it and make the same mistake as me now i gotta find a new screw

Did it fit?
The t20 screws you have to loosen to get the bulb out, does anyone know where I can buy them I lost mine whilst replacing bulbs😭
The air filter box lifts straight out, It's only attached by rubber gromits underneath.
thanks for help man :)
Very helpful, thank you.
Thank you very much, it worked!
Thanks .. that was very helpful!
Thank you - so happy I managed myself.
Is the passenger side actually easy unlike the drl ones ??
do you have to press keys to activate key fob? ??
im not too sure what you mean? sorry
nice tip about removing the air filter cover first.
My day light bulb fell off and went down into the lamp what can I use to get it out I tried to use a stick and sellotape lol didn’t work hope I don’t need to take the entire lamp off
Get a Flexible Claw Pick Up Tool, I used it to get the bulb out so easily.
Very useful...can u leave all the bulb name size name etc.. so we can order online easily...thanks
Is that the low beam bulb as I have code 18 low beam failure
Did you get anywhere with this? I have just got the code 18 low beam warning this morning. Any advice?
@@ste3502sjt it was a pain to change as the fuse box was in the way and you need a star allan ket to get it out.
Great video ☺
+Jennifer Maxwell thank you
Can we do t20 torx??
What can we do?
which screwdriver ? pls link
Thanks a lot all done
You just pull all air box out from two bushes, doesn't need to unscrew anything. Doesn't need to tight any screws.
can you make a video changing the DRL please. great video
+bmbmbm mbmbmb I will be making a video on that very soon, make sure you subscribe to get notified when I upload
+bmbmbm mbmbmb I have made the video you have requested here's the link ua-cam.com/video/5GYDj5q3dTk/v-deo.html
Do you have the link for the metal pedal sets? It looks nice and sporty

Can you show the fog light replacement
Mu astra j has no front fog lights, only rear
thanks, well done
Can you show how to change the front indicator light?
Thanks
But i can’t to change The other place next to the battery for my car Astra 2016
Thank you very help.

Can you show us how to change the fog light
I cannot relocate the low beam bulb back in the casing .What am I doing wrong . Getting peed of with it now
My one has no screw and the bulb is on a plastic connector like an all in one kit
Tnx..you save me 20KM.
Yes brudda
Magic, I had given up, why do the headlights bulbs fail so often on modern cars
you turn the unit, dont loosen the screw haha And quicker to remove full airbox
The one on right is easy to access. Problem is the one on left.
