The ultra is awesome and it is a small improvement over my fettec kwads and it is nice to see the new active development in the ultra definitely will be buying more soon
Hey guys! I want to be clear that this is my experience personally and your experience may be completely different. I would recommend not judging either board until you have flown and experienced both over time. I hope this video is helpful for those wondering which is better, I can only speak from my experience and you should ultimately fly whatever suites you best!

Been flying Kiss Ultra since batch 1! It's amazing. Been supporting FederovCommander's developement via patreon for a long while now as well. One thing no one has really covered yet is how incredible GPS return to home is on Kiss Ultra!
Maybe an odd question, but how incredible is RTH on ultra? Like how is it different from RTH on Kiss other than the fact it can be triggered by a failsafe? How is it different from BF GPS rescue? Genuinely curious.
@@udyfpv GPS rescue is not the same as return to home by any measure. From the official betaflight documentation: GPS Rescue Mode is intended to bring your quad back autonomously in case of an emergency such as loss of video or radio link. The only purpose is to bring the quad back into range so you can retake control as soon as possible. It is not meant to be a reliable Return to Home mode. I don't need to say more. However on Kiss, it's proper RTH with full autonomous return, and configurable parameters however it only uses GPS. On Ultra it's one step above as it comes with a high quality barometer; so there's rock solid altittude hold in place during RTH.
@@TAGE_FPV I'd encourage you to elaborate on the difference with betaflight, not sure I quite understand how rth on bf with a baro would be so different from rth in ultra. Not trying to defend bf or anything, I much much prefer kiss. Just trying to understand how they are different functionally.
@@TAGE_FPV basically I know that in bf, if configured correctly, with a baro you get solid altitude hold as well. So I was wondering beyond that if Ultra did anything notably different.

Love finally seeing pilots leaning back towards KISS after a few years of stagnation. Honestly, Alexander has been killing the firmware game for quite some time, luckily now people are noticing!
I'm still flying the KISS V2 F7 with KISS 25a ESCs. Copied Steele's settings from when he did the 6S build video and haven't touched a setting on the quad since, can't imagine the quad flying any better than it does and its been going strong for years. When I need to build a new quad I'll likely go with KISS Ultra if I can get hold of one.

To me it's like really nice shoes some people swear by reebox or Nike etc. Where your comparing the absolute best equipment available its gonna be damn good regardless but comes down to flying prefence

Do this Bro🔥 I fly falco too about more then one year and test last week the ultra. The experience is awesome without tuning. I think after tuning comes the time that I quit with falco and going only ultra.

Kiss’ locked in flight characteristics look really appealing to me. I saw what you’re talking about in your previous video where you outfitted Drib Bubby and Shawns kwads with Kiss FCs and they all had positive impressions. Although I’m hesitant to fix what ain’t broke, but since you’re one the keenest flyers around I value your opinion and I’ll give it a try (especially since the Ultra works with BL Heli). Thanks Alex.

Whst are your pids.just starting my ultra build today flew some packs. I'm curious about a few things I've noticed like how to adjust say idle. I set idle up switch for now an just bump it up some if I wanted more idle but not shore if it the right fix. Going to try an tune some tomorrow but I'm lost being my 1st kiss build an use to betaflight

What do you fly for racing? Betaflight or kiss? What tracks setpoint better and handles propwash and throttle dips better? All bbox logs show betaflight is best objectively. Subjective preferences are one thing facts of pid controller handling the math is another.
I fly kiss ultra v2 and i love it, now it really hard to fly one of my betaflight quads because i dont enjoy it as much also Alex what are your rates i would like to try them if thats okay.
Hi I use T-motor F7 HD stack and t-motor F7 HD Mini stack and a rush blade stack all my quads are now DJI I made the switch a few weeks ago and I'm happy so I'm not going to change for now I only started flying a year ago great video as always One Love🙏👊💙
Couldn't agree with your opinion more. I started flying FPV in the summer of 2020, flew BF for a year and then last summer decided to give FETTEC a try, and I was instantly hooked. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck with their ESCs so I switched back to flying BlHeli ESCs without passthrough. Even though I still fly my FETTEC F7 FCs (they're awesome), I have started switching some of my quads to the ULTRA because it's even more awesome and has passthrough. That being said, I really hope FETTEC adds passthrough for their FCs, that's really the only thing that makes the experience not as nice as it could be. Suffice it to say, I love the way KISS flies (and it's simplicity in the setup and tuning department) and I haven't looked back.
When can I buy one ? I would live to switch to the Fetteck Ultra. Is there a pre order available? I would be willing to give the cash and wait for them to make more.
I been flying Kiss & Betaflight & Emuflight for a long time. I always been drawn to Kiss more. I tried the first run of Fettec F7 FC and liked them. But didnt have any luck with them.( Fettec 30amp & 40amp esc had been solid) One Fettec F7 FC was bad out of the box. And the other two after small crashes stopped working. So I resorted going back to the old Kiss V2 F7 FC boards which hasn't never failed me. So I'm curious about the ultra. And how much better it flys
I fly betaflight and have done from day one but I can’t wait for the kiss fcfc ultra to be released in the uk hopefully it’s not gonna be to long as I have a terminal illness not sure how long I have left but would love that to be my last change to my quad

Man I would love to try out FPV. I watch all the videos that I can find on it. Trouble is I am legally blind in my right eye and have about less than 70% ish in my left. I need to have a cornea transplant. Not having a lot of spare cash to spend. I do not know if I can even see to fly. Do not know why I am sharing this. Recently tried KISS on a Fettec G4. I have 2 identical builds (same frame and motors) one running KISS and one running Betaflight. I've been a betaflight pilot for 6 years but my go to for flying sessions is the KISS quad now.
I smoked one fettec esc I’m on my second now but I may have to try this if I pop another one. Blheli pass through is huge. I’m using a g4 and love it but the esc scares me especially now that I’ve heard you pop a few. Good stuff man! Thank you
Been a Betaflight user since it's release. For the last few years, I've been using Mamba FCs pretty much exclusively except for small stuff. I'm strictly a recreational pilot, and have settled into the Mamba F7 stack with DJI video transmitters, sometimes with DJI link, sometimes with CRSF on my old Taranis and X9s. Been wanting to try Kiss, but they've been out of stock for years, expensive, and seem to lack the peer support that Betaflight based gear does. If Can get a couple of Kiss ultra setups for a tolerable price, I'll probably try them this summer. I've kinda got too settled it for too long, so I'm open to trying something new. Last time I switched it was from KK boards to Naze32 F1 boards and Baseflight Cleanflight and finally Betaflight. Took a detour to APM briefly because I had a friend obsessed with long range auto flights, but they never finished the software and I abandoned it. Guess it's time to look forward again... The fact I've been using one combo so long speaks to just how far we've come I guess. Thanks for the honest opinion on the Kiss world.
1:45 Not having blheli passthrough really doesn't mean you can't use it. Just means you'd need to keep a Betaflight flight controller around for if you need to make any changes to the blheli setup. Then once you've done that, you connect the Kiss one again and off you go (this is mostly if you're using a 4-in-1 where you'd just have a single cable connecting the two). I thought when people said it didn't support blheli they meant it doesn't do e.g. standard dshot...
@@captainvanover I remember watching that ep when it came out. :) But I got the impression that previously Kiss didn't work with blheli escs at all, rather than only blheli passthrough not working.
I've tried Kiss before G4 and Ultra, and IMO Betaflight is superior with just a decent tune on it. I have yet to try G4 & Ultra, but I would be very surprised if it flies better than a good tuned BF4.2 quad, and even more so with BF4.3.
A tuned betaflight quad flies amazing, but I think a tuned Fettec g4 quad or especially a kiss ultra quad will simply fly smoother and have a different stick feel that is more appealing to guys like me. Give the new stuff a try sometime and you may be surprised ;)
@@captainvanover I actually used them on HookV2(way before you do) and even tried your pids on the G4. My BF 4.3 with PD Balance at 0.8, master at 2.0 and filters at 1.9 flies way better. G4 can't match the propwash handling of that setup. No troubles or occasional twitches. You can even see it in the video with the rotor riot that you did. The moment Ledrip sais that there is no propwash it was terrible. I don't have that with the BF build. BF drone HookV2 Rush blade stack F40 Motors Kiss HookV2 G4 + 45A fettec ESC(mounted with gummy standoffs like you do) F40 motors The max D I can squeeze out of the G4 was about 14(with corresponding P which was about 4-4.5) before it started to sound gittery. On BF sky is the limit. I believe the difference comes from the RPM filtering but might be worng. This is my personal opinion, the kiss drone is my backup now. I was going to replace the G4 with the Ultra but after watching JBs video realized that the difference is not that big(especially watching the propwash scene). No disrespecting. Huge respect for you as a pilot.
Agree I've had the ultra mini since it came out and prefer my tuned 4.3 rig so I've sold the ultra, Love what Alex has done in supporting the ultra and kiss over the past years and I'm still a patreon Yes ultra with a Krunked tune against a bf quad that hasn't been tuned it's better hands down and for people who just want to fly it's perfect but if you have the time I prefer bf. Osd on ultra is amazing and all the things Alex has added. But people arguing and saying this is better than that.. "just fly" Btw I've flown kiss since 2017 v1 and V2

I’ve been using the Fettec G4 with all kinds of esc 60A 4x1 inflight and 65A Holybro and even single 65A with brainfpv power supply and frankly has always been much more responsive than all my other H7 fcs… and also ok nice kiss ultra if like to try but where do you get kiss ultra right now? Please
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I fly BF right now. I have tried older versions of KISS and I didn’t like it. But that doesn’t mean I would not be willing to give it another shot especially now that using BL_heli ESCs is possible. My only issue is probably going to be availability. I’ve noticed it’s out of stock everywhere. If the supply can keep up with the demand, I’ll absolutely give it a try.

I fly beta flight cause I’m so new to the hobby and really don’t even have beta flight down yet. There is just so much to learn thinking of having to learn another thing and remember how to use it adds some stress. Great video love watching you fly your amazing! Just so you know, KISS = keep it super simple. And they stick to it. BetaFlight is a lot more work than Kiss in general. Just slap on Krunked's Golden Starting point tune and your 90% done, probably just need to raise D a bit until you don't have any bounceback.
I also had my kiss hardware laying around for a couple months before I switched primarily because was waiting for bf 4.3 and the f7 stack I was flying for about a year treated me pretty good. I really wanted to stay loyal to my setup. But when 4.3 came out it flew great for about a week and it seemed i was already playing with the tune and again i was struggling with it. So i finally rebuilt my quad with the g4 + 45 amp fettec esc and was blown away. I love it and i think a big part of this is that yeah to some ppl bf is appealing because alot of ppl like to have all the bells and whistles. gives them some kind of status. To me I just want to fly. And so far kiss gives that to me

Very cool to know. Definitely think pass-through is awesome. I been running blheli escs since I been on kiss. I have tried a fettec esc once and honestly did not like as much. So definitely nice not having to connect another fc just to get into blheli
I remember when you dropped fl1 (for the first time) for brain fpv, or something like that, which was betaflight based fc. You basically told same things, "it flies great, it's super smooth" etc. I have nothing against Alexander and Kiss ultra (which i really wanna try since im just getting back to hobby) but (to me) it looks like you will put in a great light any product that you currently work with. I get this, you use for your work only best but for casual pilots it's like a chasing their own tails. I think it would look hell better if you would just focus on the things that differ Kiss ultra and Fettec fcs and there are quite some ;) happy flying
Would love to try the Ultra but I have a life and don't have time to hawk FB/patreon/discord posts to try and catch a rare release of a small batch of boards so I guess I'll stick with fettec for now...🤷♂️
One of these days I'll have to try a KISS board. I am really enjoying the tuning presets in Betaflight 4.3 because I am not a tuner for sure. So for the last few weeks I've had BF 4.3 and been using a tuning preset and really enjoying how much better my quad flies. I've been able to turn hypersmooth off on my hero 8 because of how much smoother it flies. I imagine these FCs are all preference. Some love how a Mustang drives. Some hate it and prefer how a Buick drives. On paper one is going to be better but that's not going to change the feel that different people have.
You are absolutely right and the 4.3 presets fly great! Kiss ultra comes “stock” with an amazing tune and the Fettec g4 they have dozens of preset tunes to try from as well.
I was a KISS guy, then a FlightOne guy... I even tried the Helio/Butterflight stuff. Sadly, hardware availability was ALWAYS an issue with KISS and FL1. I finally got fed up and switched to BetaFlight/EmuFlight.
Always wish I could try KISS but it's so hard to get here in Australia. As a result I fly brain fpv FCs, nothing beats it in betaflight terms. 4.3RC is amazing to
yes that Is the downside it can be hard to get, however impulse rc is in Australia I believe and they are a dealer of the ultra fc. 4.3rc on a brainfpv is an amazing combo to fly as well!
See now this is what matters to me!! I'm not a big all getting into data person I'm more about the way It just feels. These both look really good just sounds like ultra will be good for me blheli-s. I fly the Ultra on the Apex frame My backup is the Fettec F7 on the Apex frame. My backup to them is my first build, the Kakute F7 on the Source one frame, running BF 4.2.9 Love them all. I'm not a great pilot, need lots of backups 😂. Happy flying Alex💖 🤓
you are my first favourite freestyler pilot, i fly the CL1vs, exsclusively your hypetrain 2021kv and when you made the video about how Fettec had impressed you, i had to give it a try too. Tbh i havent had very good luck and also i didnt really like the stick feeling of it. I will stick wit FL1 and once i finish my stash of H7 then i might try the kiss ultra 😉🤙

The F7 is still my favourite at the minute. Only flown the Ultra for a few packs on a buddies rig and it felt very close to the G4. Waiting for the Ultra delivery so i can tune that ish myself :D I take it, it is compatible with the FETtec esc if the plug wiring order is changed?? I am thinking sinusoidal ESCs would be an even smoother experience over BlHeli..

I just got 2 of the g4 boards because of your rotorriot video. Never flown kiss before but I’ll get them installed in 2 quads and go rip em.
Whst are your pids.just starting my ultra build today flew some packs. I'm curious about a few things I've noticed like how to adjust say idle. I set idle up switch for now an just bump it up some if I wanted more idle but not shore if it the right fix. Going to try an tune some tomorrow but I'm lost being my 1st kiss build an use to betaflight

I have seen a Kiss ultra mini 20x20 somewhere. Hope the mini becomes available so I can try out kiss.
What do you fly for racing? Betaflight or kiss? What tracks setpoint better and handles propwash and throttle dips better? All bbox logs show betaflight is best objectively. Subjective preferences are one thing facts of pid controller handling the math is another.
I fly kiss ultra v2 and i love it, now it really hard to fly one of my betaflight quads because i dont enjoy it as much also Alex what are your rates i would like to try them if thats okay.
Being able to use BLHELI ESCs now I'm more interested in switching a quad over.

Hi I use T-motor F7 HD stack and t-motor F7 HD Mini stack and a rush blade stack all my quads are now DJI I made the switch a few weeks ago and I'm happy so I'm not going to change for now I only started flying a year ago great video as always One Love🙏👊💙
Couldn't agree with your opinion more. I started flying FPV in the summer of 2020, flew BF for a year and then last summer decided to give FETTEC a try, and I was instantly hooked. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck with their ESCs so I switched back to flying BlHeli ESCs without passthrough. Even though I still fly my FETTEC F7 FCs (they're awesome), I have started switching some of my quads to the ULTRA because it's even more awesome and has passthrough. That being said, I really hope FETTEC adds passthrough for their FCs, that's really the only thing that makes the experience not as nice as it could be. Suffice it to say, I love the way KISS flies (and it's simplicity in the setup and tuning department) and I haven't looked back.
When can I buy one ?
I would live to switch to the Fetteck Ultra.

I been flying Kiss & Betaflight & Emuflight for a long time. I always been drawn to Kiss more. I tried the first run of Fettec F7 FC and liked them. But didnt have any luck with them.( Fettec 30amp & 40amp esc had been solid) One Fettec F7 FC was bad out of the box. And the other two after small crashes stopped working. So I resorted going back to the old Kiss V2 F7 FC boards which hasn't never failed me. So I'm curious about the ultra. And how much better it flys

I fly betaflight and have done from day one but I can’t wait for the kiss fcfc ultra to be released in the uk hopefully it’s not gonna be to long as I have a terminal illness not sure how long I have left but would love that to be my last change to my quad

Been running fettec with a Infinity305 blheli32 esc on 4 quads, only cause I havent been able to get the ultra.
So are you using the Kiss Ultra stack or the Kiss FC and a different ESC ?
Man I would love to try out FPV. I watch all the videos that I can find on it. Trouble is I am legally blind in my right eye and have about less than 70% ish in my left. I need to have a cornea transplant. Not having a lot of spare cash to spend. I do not know if I can even see to fly. Do not know why I am sharing this. Recently tried KISS on a Fettec G4. I have 2 identical builds (same frame and motors) one running KISS and one running Betaflight. I've been a betaflight pilot for 6 years but my go to for flying sessions is the KISS quad now.
I smoked one fettec esc I’m on my second now but I may have to try this if I pop another one. Blheli pass through is huge. I’m using a g4 and love it but the esc scares me especially now that I’ve heard you pop a few. Good stuff man! Thank you

Been a Betaflight user since it's release. For the last few years, I've been using Mamba FCs pretty much exclusively except for small stuff. I'm strictly a recreational pilot, and have settled into the Mamba F7 stack with DJI video transmitters, sometimes with DJI link, sometimes with CRSF on my old Taranis and X9s. Been wanting to try Kiss, but they've been out of stock for years, expensive, and seem to lack the peer support that Betaflight based gear does. If Can get a couple of Kiss ultra setups for a tolerable price, I'll probably try them this summer. I've kinda got too settled it for too long, so I'm open to trying something new. Last time I switched it was from KK boards to Naze32 F1 boards and Baseflight Cleanflight and finally Betaflight. Took a detour to APM briefly because I had a friend obsessed with long range auto flights, but they never finished the software and I abandoned it.
Guess it's time to look forward again... The fact I've been using one combo so long speaks to just how far we've come I guess.

FETtec is also currently writing its own firmware! So I'm pretty excited about where this is going :)

1:45 Not having blheli passthrough really doesn't mean you can't use it. Just means you'd need to keep a Betaflight flight controller around for if you need to make any changes to the blheli setup. Then once you've done that, you connect the Kiss one again and off you go (this is mostly if you're using a 4-in-1 where you'd just have a single cable connecting the two).
I thought when people said it didn't support blheli they meant it doesn't do e.g. standard dshot...

@@captainvanover I remember watching that ep when it came out. :) But I got the impression that previously Kiss didn't work with blheli escs at all, rather than only blheli passthrough not working.
I've tried Kiss before G4 and Ultra, and IMO Betaflight is superior with just a decent tune on it. I have yet to try G4 & Ultra, but I would be very surprised if it flies better than a good tuned BF4.2 quad, and even more so with BF4.3.

It doesn't. I have G4 and BF4.3 on a same quads.
A tuned betaflight quad flies amazing, but I think a tuned Fettec g4 quad or especially a kiss ultra quad will simply fly smoother and have a different stick feel that is more appealing to guys like me. Give the new stuff a try sometime and you may be surprised ;)
@@captainvanover I actually used them on HookV2(way before you do) and even tried your pids on the G4. My BF 4.3 with PD Balance at 0.8, master at 2.0 and filters at 1.9 flies way better.
G4 can't match the propwash handling of that setup. No troubles or occasional twitches. You can even see it in the video with the rotor riot that you did. The moment Ledrip sais that there is no propwash it was terrible. I don't have that with the BF build.

The max D I can squeeze out of the G4 was about 14(with corresponding P which was about 4-4.5) before it started to sound gittery. On BF sky is the limit. I believe the difference comes from the RPM filtering but might be worng.
This is my personal opinion, the kiss drone is my backup now.
I was going to replace the G4 with the Ultra but after watching JBs video realized that the difference is not that big(especially watching the propwash scene).

Yes ultra with a Krunked tune against a bf quad that hasn't been tuned it's better hands down and for people who just want to fly it's perfect but if you have the time I prefer bf.
Osd on ultra is amazing and all the things Alex has added.

I’ve been using the Fettec G4 with all kinds of esc 60A 4x1 inflight and 65A Holybro and even single 65A with brainfpv power supply and frankly has always been much more responsive than all my other H7 fcs… and also ok nice kiss ultra if like to try but where do you get kiss ultra right now? Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I fly BF right now. I have tried older versions of KISS and I didn’t like it. But that doesn’t mean I would not be willing to give it another shot especially now that using BL_heli ESCs is possible. My only issue is probably going to be availability. I’ve noticed it’s out of stock everywhere. If the supply can keep up with the demand, I’ll absolutely give it a try.

I fly beta flight cause I’m so new to the hobby and really don’t even have beta flight down yet. There is just so much to learn thinking of having to learn another thing and remember how to use it adds some stress. Great video love watching you fly your amazing! Just so you know, KISS = keep it super simple. And they stick to it. BetaFlight is a lot more work than Kiss in general. Just slap on Krunked's Golden Starting point tune and your 90% done, probably just need to raise D a bit until you don't have any bounceback.
I also had my kiss hardware laying around for a couple months before I switched primarily because was waiting for bf 4.3 and the f7 stack I was flying for about a year treated me pretty good. I really wanted to stay loyal to my setup. But when 4.3 came out it flew great for about a week and it seemed i was already playing with the tune and again i was struggling with it. So i finally rebuilt my quad with the g4 + 45 amp fettec esc and was blown away. I love it and i think a big part of this is that yeah to some ppl bf is appealing because alot of ppl like to have all the bells and whistles. gives them some kind of status. To me I just want to fly. And so far kiss gives that to me

Very cool to know. Definitely think pass-through is awesome. I been running blheli escs since I been on kiss. I have tried a fettec esc once and honestly did not like as much. So definitely nice not having to connect another fc just to get into blheli
I remember when you dropped fl1 (for the first time) for brain fpv, or something like that, which was betaflight based fc. You basically told same things, "it flies great, it's super smooth" etc. I have nothing against Alexander and Kiss ultra (which i really wanna try since im just getting back to hobby) but (to me) it looks like you will put in a great light any product that you currently work with. I get this, you use for your work only best but for casual pilots it's like a chasing their own tails. I think it would look hell better if you would just focus on the things that differ Kiss ultra and Fettec fcs and there are quite some ;)

One of these days I'll have to try a KISS board. I am really enjoying the tuning presets in Betaflight 4.3 because I am not a tuner for sure. So for the last few weeks I've had BF 4.3 and been using a tuning preset and really enjoying how much better my quad flies. I've been able to turn hypersmooth off on my hero 8 because of how much smoother it flies. I imagine these FCs are all preference. Some love how a Mustang drives. Some hate it and prefer how a Buick drives. On paper one is going to be better but that's not going to change the feel that different people have.
You are absolutely right and the 4.3 presets fly great! Kiss ultra comes “stock” with an amazing tune and the Fettec g4 they have dozens of preset tunes to try from as well.
I was a KISS guy, then a FlightOne guy... I even tried the Helio/Butterflight stuff. Sadly, hardware availability was ALWAYS an issue with KISS and FL1. I finally got fed up and switched to BetaFlight/EmuFlight.
Always wish I could try KISS but it's so hard to get here in Australia. As a result I fly brain fpv FCs, nothing beats it in betaflight terms. 4.3RC is amazing to
yes that Is the downside it can be hard to get, however impulse rc is in Australia I believe and they are a dealer of the ultra fc. 4.3rc on a brainfpv is an amazing combo to fly as well!
See now this is what matters to me!! I'm not a big all getting into data person I'm more about the way It just feels. These both look really good just sounds like ultra will be good for me blheli-s. I fly the Ultra on the Apex frame
My backup is the Fettec F7 on the Apex frame. My backup to them is my first build, the Kakute F7 on the Source one frame, running BF 4.2.9 Love them all. I'm not a great pilot, need lots of backups 😂.

i had to give it a try too. Tbh i havent had very good luck and also i didnt really like the stick feeling of it. I will stick wit FL1 and once i finish my stash of H7 then i might try the kiss ultra 😉🤙

The F7 is still my favourite at the minute. Only flown the Ultra for a few packs on a buddies rig and it felt very close to the G4. Waiting for the Ultra delivery so i can tune that ish myself :D
I take it, it is compatible with the FETtec esc if the plug wiring order is changed?? I am thinking sinusoidal ESCs would be an even smoother experience over BlHeli..
Ultra works with ANY esc, if wired up properly. Fettec pinout is DIFFERENT.

The g4 does, and the ultra has an advanced one integrated into the H7. Not sure about the F7, I don't think so, but might be wrong..mines on dji.
