Tenerife is probably the nicest place I've ever been to in Europe, its so cool how you can go from the dry desert areas where nothing can grow , to banana fields where tropical fruits can grow, to snow on top of Teide and then rainforests in Anaga in the north to waterparks like siam park etc, hard to find somewhere that has all that in such a small area. People that don't rent a car to explore the island are missing out on so much
Totally agree. The drives up to the national park and the Masca valley in particular are amazing .
The first movies of Planet of the apes was filmed on Tenerife. This is back in 1970`s up near Teide because the landscape is so unique.
Tenerife is my favorite island. Im buying a place there if i ever get enough money.

I love Tenerife, I’ve been living all year around on the north side of the island, the more than 500 years old city Puerto de la Cruz for ten years now 🏝️☀️ 🇪🇸 Less tourism and even cheaper as well.

@@jimmccann3856 I am a retired computer consultant. In the Puerto de la Cruz area, studio or 1 BR goes for 450-750 euros a month on a one year lease, depending on the standard and the area. You’ll find them in Idealista Spain 🇪🇸

yes it seems the high season is actually in winter when everywhere else in europe is too cold. But the cool thing is that low season right now has amazing weather and prices so why not come here right now? :D

Welcome to the Canary Islands. High season in the Canaries is more during Xmas time. Cruise ships season in Fuerteventura (where I live), for example, starts in October and ends at the beginning of April. However, we get quite a few tourists in August too.

Yeah, we went to Portugal last august and it was just way too hot for us, we spent most of the week trying to hide the kids in the shade, so it’s back to the Canaries for us again. Just going to keep it to Lanzarote or Tenerife going forward! Learned our lesson

Ohh, I´`m so emotionally touched, because you visited my second home and beloved island of Tenerife🥰 and you are right..all the Canary Island are vulcanic and grown and and do that till now because of the atlantic plate collides with the african plate! much more indentic and cultural is the north with so lovely people and culture and green landscapes with much vinaries, platanofields and histories..meet La Orotava!!! The high season in the Canaries is in the winter, when all the other beach destinations in Europe are a no-go because they are too cold. That's why it is not as crowded as your previous destinations.
makes sense, pretty cool how you can still go now though and have great weather and then get great prices compared to the rest of europe during this time
And because is cold in July. Water is ice cold. Hard to stay in 21C outside aand 17-19C water. In winter it’s the same but there are no alternatives….
@@TheBlackDove The temperature is around 28C during the day, and the water around 22C. To your point, it is much cooler than the Mediterranean, but warmer than Atlantic beaches in Europe.
yes it's not cold outside, 27-29 degrees, water was also not ice cold, only mildly cold

Great video guys - brought back lots of memories. I first holidayed in Tenerife in 1982. We’ve been back a couple of times since on a cruise. Each time we rented a car for the day (worth doing) and on the second occasion we pretty much covered the whole island except for the resorts in the South. If you can get away from the tourist spots and up into the mountains, it is an amazing island.

I think I recall that airplanes come in low at one of the more busy beaches in Tenerife. I bet that's either cool or frightening, depending on how one looks at it. That menu at the restaurant you both went to is really nice; I like the way the meals are organized and with clear pictures of each. The price you got for the rental car is insane! I will keep that in mind should the opportunity arise that I visit there. Great video Chris and Carol!🏖
yeah i think the car rental was the most surprising of them all especially since we were only renting for a few days
Nice to see the place with fresh eyes. We’ve lived here for 10 years and the stable weather is the best… high season starts in November to the end of April great deals in May and surprisingly the second week of December just before the Christmas rush… new subscriber.

@@JumpingPlaces Oh i really dont remember exactly. But probably around 3-5h.
We did not have anything but water with us i think.
This is 10+ years ago and so i have forgotten most of it.
But there were several elderly woman with us in their fifties and many looked out of shape and everyone made it.
I was in very good shape and could jump between the rocks with both hands in my pockets.
The guide commented on that and said with a smile that i was mocking everyone for making the hike look so easy haha.
But you two are both young like i was back then and so its not an issue.
But really beautiful tour.
Its really strange to be in a vally like that where you are the only people and with no way out but to continue, due to steep cliffs all around you.

Masca looks amazing.
I enjoyed watching you guys in Los Cristianos, we lived nearby tor 3 years! Places to try: La Pepa (top floor), a great open air food court with a sea view, El Cine, an amazing and cheap local fish lunch or diner (not many tourists), Lucky 7 if you're craving burgers 😀 and Havana's Las Vistas for the best sundowner ambiance. I hope you'll have an amazing time in Tenerife! Be sure to get a car, drive up to the Caldera, and down through the woods towards Santa Cruz...

beautiful video!I live at the north 0f Tenerife and the most beautiful town is la Orotava,wich worth to visit,and also Icod de los Vinos,wich has the 1000 year old dragon tree.Yes,you find the south of tenerife a little bit empty,the reason is that the canary islands are not a summer holyday destination,it has more tourism at the winter,as the winter is here warm,compare to all other european destinations,

Lovely island, i've been there many times, you two will enjoy it, you can get a cable car ride up Mount Tiede, or go and see El Drago one of the oldest Dagon trees on the island, get yourself up to Playa de Benijo on the NW coast, great driving and scenery too.
Hi very twisty & tight bends diving down to Masca was there last November 2023 quaint little village very nice I love Tenerife been there at lest ten times and also visited all of the other Canary islands through Holidays & Cruises in the last twenty years bring back good memories

That’s where my great grand father came from. If you ever wonder where Dominican (and Cuban, Puerto Rican) spanish come from, it’s from the Canary Islands and Andalucía.

Chris you said it before me, a Baja feel, as I was thinking too or even a San Diego beach feel (same climate and water temperatures) except much cheaper, more relaxed and cleaner there. Also I think the mountains remind me of Hawaii which is also volcanic! As always thanks for sharing and using excellent tunes Carol and Chris 👍🎶🎶
As someone who lives in socal, I deffinetly can see it as a mix of socal and baja. None the less, the way the moutians meet the ocean looks gorgeous there.
Nice video. You can also do a boat trip to see dolphins and whales. Canary islands are a hotspot for this. Or visit 1 of the other less touristy islands. Have fun! xx

Masca have an amazing beach for witch you have to take hike down of the village or a boat/jet ski trip . Tenerife is totally worth it. Don’t forget the beaches in the north even beautiful 🤩 ❤

Pleased to have found your channel. I am lucky enough to be able to go to Tenerife 3x per yr; in fact I'm off again in 2 days.
I'm a Scot who has been learning Spanish for some years. I am far from fluent, but your pronunciation is very good - better than 90% of other Brits, some of whom have been staying there for 10+ yrs!
FYI, in July the sea temp was c 23C (range 19C to 24C). Tenerife is the same latitude as Florida, but the summer sea/air temp is lower, due to of the prevailing NE current/winds I've heard.
Some of the beaches were destroyed (imported Sahara sand) a few days ago due to high waves/heavy swell.
I'm a flightsim freak - I'm currently flying from Glasgow to Tenerife, mirroring the flight I'll take on Fri afternoon.

Longing to be back there again! - I remember that Tenerife was always very affordable regarding food even years ago (with Peseta prices!) - main dish of fish or seafood would always be around € 4,-- no matter in which place, a simple restaurant or a better one, only the prices for side dishes and drinks would very according to the place. - Yes, it can get very hot in the Canaries, that's when Scirocco strices, the hot wind from Africa (at least on Gran Canaria) and it can stay for days or weeks on end! - Masca is beautiful!!! - There was a small surfers beach, don't remember the name, before Los Cristianos coming from the north, with sand, quite nice!
Quite High prices for accommodation though, we used to go every year to Tenerife until a few years ago and now we go to mainland Spain as you can get villas way cheaper
Much cheaper than around 50 euros a night? We can almost never find anything like that In Europe on the coast in july
@@JumpingPlaces yes usually we pay around 100 a night for apartment it’s quite a luxury resort with huge pool in Tenerife, los Cristianos , now we rent big villa with private pool in Alicante area for around the same price

I’ve not been to Tenerife for years, looks great and super surprised at prices. I live in Malta now and makes you realise how far Malta has fallen over time.
yeah people are telling us that high season is actually winter so i think that is why the prices are low now. but since it has great weather all year round might as well visit in the summer and get the better prices :D Malta the prices were a bit higher but even Malta was cheaper compared to many other European destinations

Paid 12€ for beds & a parasol in Cadiz recently and in Alicante City earlier this year the same was nearly 30€!
I stay there in january 2024 . But was in Santa Cruz north Side of the Island . The water Temperatur are the Same , about 21 degree at Playa las teresitas

If you’re still there get yourself to a restaurant called ‘rodeo’ it’s in Adeje near to the aqua spa. Best meal I’ve had anywhere in the world. Probably €10 cab from where your apartment is.

We love Tenerife. I hope you get a chance to see more of the island. The north is more green. Check out la Tejita beach south of the airport with the Montaña Roja, a nice climb up to the top. El Medano is a nice coastal village, so is los Abrigos all in the same area. And drive up to el Teide, the landscape is gorgeous.
It the cliffs collapse at Los Gigantes there would be a tsunami on the east coast of USA. Fact

It depends which area you stay and yes it’s cheap but if you stay in posh area like Costa Adeje it’s expensive
You should visit La Palma, la isla bonita... its the most scenic and greenest one... you would love the hiking there

All I remember about Tenerife was the hijacking event in the 70s or 80s
......and every day the black smoke from the 3 ferries. See 2:26 min. The engines run the hole day. I m live there, too. Buenavista!
