Freedom the Humpback Whale sighting 8/1/24

Spotted off Point Vicente, Palos Verdes, Southern California … was entangled but rescued about 2 weeks ago and has been seen hanging out between redondo beach and Dana point.
Juvenile Humpback Whale, named Freedom. Identification clear by the rash-like coloration on the back/sides from the entanglement and a collapsed half of their fluke.
Seems to be doing well now. Seen once before a week prior by the Huntington Beach rigs, was mostly using pectoral fins for movement and no “fun” humpback behaviors as in this video.
