I'm a console player but I compete I tournaments for some pretty good prizes for a relatively good player

I'm triggered because sypher is already better at fortnite than me with him on controller after presumably only a couple games and me after like way too many PC games
Its squads so its much easier to do better when your surrounded by good teammates too. Plus he played halo etc so his decision making carries over without being limited too much by the controller
He's a fortnight pro, positioning and decision making are the same only difference is inputs... especially if he's played any shooter before
He wasn’t horrible but he could do better in terms of building speed and what not. Like everyone else said though decision making is key

But switching to pc definitely gave me the biggest boost in skill, more so than upgrading any peripheral ever did.

Brosion it’s controller meta because your 4th weapon can be accessed easier from Slot 1 if it’s in Slot 5 being that you only need to tap L1/LB to get to it. Meds go in slot 4 and 5 if you don’t want or need a 4th weapon

I strongly recommend that you put your heavy gun (sniper, rpg, launcher, hand cannons) on the last slot so you can quickly switch between sniper and AR

Sypher confirming the skill gap theory here: if console has skill levels between 1-10, PC has skill levels of -4 to 12 basically. The strong aim assist *will* make newbies on console have a better shot than someone who's never played a shooter on PC before, *but* due to the difference in input methods there's also more room for growth on the PC side in the end.
Kind Old Raven Um, no. The higher floor of game play is due to the controls being both simpler than PC, and being inspired by similar previous games. (If you don’t play games on PC at all, the keyboard aspect is incredibly awkward). Aim assist is just one little thing, not related to moving and jumping, etc. , and honestly doesn’t help you if you have bad aim. If you have good aim, it helps you STAY on a moving target longer. For example, if your aim ability is zero, when you multiply that by five (aim assist) it’s still zero. If your aim is way off, it does nothing.
I'd respectfully disagree. It's possible to ''abuse'' the aim assist on Fortnite on console with zooming in and out quickly which will almost make it snap-on-target aim. It's not just ''slow-down aim in general area of the enemy'', no, there's an actual tracking element to it as well. Same with CoD on consoles. There's even a video on UA-cam showing how that works in FN specifically. Especially for long range tracking, that's a *very* useful tool to have. Another example of this: I've played with my gamepad on the PC version a couple of times and at times I could simply ADS and without doing anything, my crosshair would slightly move towards enemies walking sideways through it. Other than that I basically view gamepads as very good ''multi-tools'' and keyboard and mouse as ''precision instruments''.
Kind Old Raven I’m not saying you’re lying or anything, for all I know I have my settings in such a way that it’s minimizing aim assist, but I hit about 10% of my shots at short to mid range or further, if the enemy is moving at all or is peeking, etc. It’s possible that I’m overriding the aim assist (my sensitivity is typically 8/8 or 7/7) or I’m not staying targeted long enough, but in my rough 1,000 games I have never ever, ever seen the mere activity of targeting to lock in on an opponent like it does with many Zelda games and such. I’ve watched targeting videos as well, and they said exactly what I did above- if you are aimed well on an opponent and are trying to slowly keep aim as the opponent is moving, the aim assist is meant to help console players remain on that target somewhat as well as you can do with a mouse. Maybe I’ll look for more aim assist videos to see what you’re talking about.

Man Of Steel I’ve been playing with that, I have the targeting and scope sensitivity set really low, like .08 or near there, and as long as I never use it in close quarters, it’s pretty useful.

I find organizing my guns from right to left makes it easier to switch from Shotgun to SMG with using the LB while still being able to shoot keeping your finger on RT instead of using RB to switch. Ex. SMG/Shotgun/AR/Sniper/meds . Just a suggestion
