      A ridiculously overpriced salad spinner at that. For a hundred bucks, I'd rather buy an electric camping washing machine. Fits a lot more laundry and is at least semi-automatic. If you do it completely manually, you might as well throw the laundry in a bucket and stir it with a broomstick.

      I agree. For a hundred bucks, you can buy a camping washer that fits 5 kg of laundry or more and has a built-in motor.

    Hang them outside or on a rack inside. Summers are great for drying outside and your laundry will smell REALLY good too. Not to mention your clothes will last longer (compared to using a dryer, not to mention the electricity you're saving!). In winter, you don't need a humidifier when drying inside.

    Great idea. I've seen the vids with the plunger and bucket, which is a cost-effective alternative, but I love that everything's done for you with this device. A little pricey, though, since the competition is around $50 or less.

    For my lighter clothing I cut the bottom off a plastic gallon bleach bottle and use it as a "washer" for t-shirts and light pants. I fill it 3/4 full of water. Add a little soap and one item at a time. I squish the item around with my hand and it rushes the water through it pretty fast. The water also bounces off the inside of the bleach bottle. That power cleans it. It's really easy. I rinse it the same way. Then rinse one more time by hand in the sink, wring it out and hang it up to dry. Takes about a couple minutes per item, and my clothes always smell fresh. Better than when I put them through the washing machine, and they last longer. The machine is mostly used for blue jeans and towels. Not sure this thing gets the water through as well. And the handle might break off.

    I totally agree. I was thinking the same thing! Definitely overpriced for being as you called it.. "big salad spinner!!!" All it is-is a couple hunks of plastic with a handle on it. I could do the same thing with a bucket of water and a wooden spoon! lol. The "Mini" washing machines look awesome though! I would buy one of those!

  • @MsSilverkate

    This uses 2-4 gallons for very little clothes looks about half pound of clothes. A large washing machine holds 40-50 pounds of wet clothes and uses 40-50 gallons of water. You use more water in this than if you do a large load of laundry. There are also mini portable washing machines on the market that use less water and electricity.

    I've used one of those giant pretzel containers that look like a barrel. shake shake shake, empty, wring, fresh water, shake shake, drain. wring or drip dry. Or break out your salad spinner and spin em dry. LOL no way 100 dollars

  • @Perktube1
    @Perktube1 10 років тому +2

    Does it really move the water thru the clothes or just spin the water with the clothes? Also it should be cheaper, and the lid should be watertight and possibly translucent so it could be used like a front loader. And a gear system to make it spin super fast for a spin cycle if you don't mind the workout.

  • @harmonymiller1211
    @harmonymiller1211 5 років тому

    I am seeing comments about people using it for heavily soiled clothing. I don't think this is what it was meant for. Even full size electric washers may not get those kinds of dirty clothes truly clean. But it might be good for pre-washing items of that nature to get some of the grunge off of them before putting them in a full size one. If you look at an apartment or condo laundry room often they ask for that kind of clothing NOT to be put in the washer or dryer.
    I also don't think they were meant to replace a full size washer and dryer to wash oversize items. I used to have a full size Maytag washer and dryer even they didn't always fit those kinds of things so I had to take them to a professional cleaners.
    For people that have smaller loads though where the clothes aren't really that dirty but still need to be washed before wearing again this might be just the thing for them.

      Actually if you live in an apartment you always have to recharge your laundry card. This saves the hassle and cost of having to do that. It also is usable at any time as you can do this at 2:30 AM if you have to . If you wear uniforms to work where they don't get really dirty but still need to be cleaned this would be ideal. I don't think it's meant to replace a full size washer - just for doing those smaller loads of one or two items that would waste water if you did them in a full size washer that didn't have a lot of settings for water levels.

    Ok, so i am going to get 9 pieces, 2 bath towels, one pair of jeans, one bedding set, underwear, Dafuq am i gonna manage all that in a overpriced salad spinner?! It would take me a week, and i would end up with a sprained elbow! But seriously, they have used a heck of a large amount of water, FORTY GALLONS? My machine uses 41 liters, can handle 8kilo of clothes per wash and a entire load of laundry can take only 14 minutes! Please tell me that people have not brought into this junk?!

    • @Romnen
      @Romnen 10 років тому +2

      I'm not sold on this either, but they aren't using 40 gallons. Each time they filled the machine it was a gallon. 41 liters is more than 10 gallons, so you could possibly save water. This really isn't a machine for people with large loads of clothing. Its for people who live in small apartments, don't own a lot of clothes, and isn't meant to replace a full on laundry machine for things like bedding.
      Edit: I should clarify that it is for people who are going to be doing the occasional load as well. I can't see this being great for using all the time, but I can use some uses for it.

    • @ChrisFlegg
      @ChrisFlegg 10 років тому +1

      Romnen Oh i can see it would be great for a small shirt, maybe some socks, or underwear, i actually went downstairs to my kitchen and tried similar in a salad spinner! Personally a small twin tub machine would be much better. You would start washing your whites first, and then use the same water for all your other clothes afterwards. A hundred bucks for a salad spinner is pretty high! I just done some calculations and the front loading washing machine we have at home uses 9.01 Gallons of water per wash! Thats a 7kilo (15lb) load, and one of the fastest spin speeds on the market right now.So if you work out how much water and detergent you would need to wash the same weight of clothes in a pod machine, you're worse off!
