Dot from Derbyshire Very Impressive. Excellent video and superbly narrated. I loved the demonstration everything I needed to know. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. What would we do without You tube, lots of love from Derbyshire, Dot x.
That’s impressive, I see so many mixed reviews on Shark machines, however, what this has cleaned up I’m pretty sure my Karcher FC5 would have struggled to get that amount of test dirt up , the Karcher cleans well, but I always dry vac my hard floors before using Karcher, good video as always Roger 👍🏼 cute dog 🐕 watching you near end.
The Karcher would not cope with the sort of debris the Shark or Bissell Crosswave can pick up. I sold my Karcher ages ago as I didn’t like it and found it ridiculous that it couldn’t stand up on its own.
I recently unplugged and cleaned a tineco a power mop. It is advisable to vacuum first before you use the battery operated power mop. Thanks for the review of the shark power mop sir.
fantastic video thank you! so grateful to see a UK review and normal usage at its a lot more relatable than the “stress tests” by the comparison channels

Well, that's a nice machine and if I didn't already have a Rainbow E2 black with its assorted wet cleaning attachments I would consider it, well its corded version.
Well, spank my bottom and call me Susan as well, because I am ordering this at 1 am on a Wednesday morning. Thank you for this detailed and well structured video!
@@ibaisaic I am probably going to sell mine as well. It's the second FC5 I've had as well, the first one broke. At the time, I thought it was decent until I got the Shark Hydrovac and honest to god, that thing can clean! I don't even have to vacuum my hard floors first anymore.

The machine was spotless after two self cleaning cycles and manual cleaning of the roller, filter and dirty water tank. Certainly clean enough for me to return it to QVC if I so desire.
Thank you for the demonstration it was very comphrensive. You said one of the baskets on the docking station was for the roller, do you know what the other one is for?
Hello. Just ordered this model from QVC Liked your review. 1. Did you try using the vac on carpet or a rug. 2. The run time of 25 minutes long enough between charges. would you recommend keeping it charged to mains plug 24hrs. Did you keep it after the 60 day period.
No I didn’t use it on a carpet or rug. You can leave it plugged in on the charging dock between uses. The run time was long enough to do all my hard floors on one charge. I returned it because at the time you couldn’t buy additional cleaning solution for it. It was replaced with a mains powered Bissell Crosswave that works on a similar principle to this Shark.
Roger can you do a demo with what its like on tiles. I got a bissell crosswave and yes brilliant machine but it just didnt clean the grout, i was still having to clean it by scrubbing, i have always thought if the brushbar bristles were just that bit longer it migjt get to the grout so would be interested how the shark copes with grouting 😊
It won’t clean grout, no floor washer with a roller that I’ve use will. You need to get your grout clean with manual scrubbing and use a floor washer to maintain it. The only machine I’ve used that may be able to clean grout is a Hoover Shampoo polisher with scrubbing brushes and scouring pads.
Yes, keeping grout clean is a bloody nightmare. All floor cleaners/mops seem to simply push any residual dirt into the grout channels. I've been trying to deep clean my father's tiled kitchen floor and I've loathed every minute of it. The Rug Doctor hard floor mop is _OK,_ but after years of Dad's 'cleaner' apparently rearranging the dirt in his house, the kitchen grout needs serious attention. I resorted to using my Dupray Neat steam cleaner on the grout and with countless passes and muchos scrubbing, it's starting to come properly clean. As Roger said, it's a manual job to get it initially clean, and then an electric floor cleaner can maintain the floor subsequently. GL!
Thank a lot! I love Shark products. Is it better than Bissel crosswave? My Tineco is broken My Tineco is broken. I don’t want to buy non-durable products anymore, and I want efficiency.
Great reviews! This looks similar to the Bissel crosswave. But they have not fixed my main problem with the bissel crosswave: Very small water/cleaner tanks. Gosh this looks even smaller... What is that a 2 cup / 500ml tank? PITA always emptying and refilling the tanks on my all hard-surface house. Tests I would like to see: Take a white cloth and rub it across the floor when you are done. Even though the water cleaned up comes out super dirty like you are showing with the shark my bissel crosswave often leaves a residue behind. Or After cleaning once empty both tanks and run the cleaner over the floor again. Does the water picked up come up clean or is it still dirty? Thanks for all the great content!
Nice rose gold accents but overall I think my Bissell Crosswave Cordless Max is a more substantial looking design… it’s clearly a very close competitor, which one would you have Roger, between the two, and is the Shark cheaper as I suspect?
I have never had a Bissell Crosswave Max but I do have a Bissell Crosswave cordless that I will be showing on my channel soon. I would certainly pick the Shark over the regular Crosswave.
Thank you so much for this review. Can we use this shark on carpetsor rugs with the vacuum mode only? Otherwise would you have a model to recommend that would vacuum and mop both hard floors and carpets? Thanks!
Shark has a new carpet extractor here in the US called the CarpetExpert. There are 2 models. I'm going to buy the advanced model. I'm curious what your opinion will be when they hit the UK
Hi , may I know do you need to change and fill the water when you work for cleaning ? Is it enough for no fill up and change water for kitchen and living room ?
It depends on the size of the rooms you are cleaning, but unless you live in a mansion, it should be able to clean two average sized rooms without refilling or emptying.
😂😂roger that was great fun to watch n no I didn’t nod off but is it suitable for laminate floors as I had a vax one and it wet the floor too much which as you know that’s not good for laminate p.s happy new year 🎉
Great review......I have two questions ...can you run these vac mops dry as just a vacuum? And I have a long haired dog....would the dog hairs clog up the product or are they built for this? Thank you in advance!
From what I remember before I returned this, I don’t think you can use it without solution as it switches off when the solution runs out. I can’t comment about the dog hairs because I don’t have long haired dogs.
I bought the streamline. I’m returning it. It leaves a puddle of dirty water (drips from the roller) if you leave it sit for even a few seconds after vacuuming.
Thanks for sharing. I wondered how you found the water function. I have had to send a unit back for replacement. It puts down a lot of water (compared to pushing the unit forward) and takes up all the water when moving forward. The result was having to navigate weirdly, using an unnatural arm movement, to pick the water, which still resulted in streaks. It's hard to get an answer if it dumps water when you pull it back and collects it when you push it forward (like traditional carpet cleaners used to/do). What has been your experience @ibaisaic?
I would get this over the Vax Glide. You will definitely notice how much better it is than the Vax. Edge cleaner is pretty much the same as the Vax and most other floor washers I’ve demonstrated.
Great Video Roger, thanks. I am a bit worried about the Shark solution - how much cleaning cycles do you approximate that one bottle will last, let's say for a 100 square meters house?
I wouldn’t be worried about the Shark solution because it’s impossible to get hold off. I sent my Hydrovac back to QVC due to not being able to buy any more solution and looking at the reviews, other people sent theirs back for the same reason.
For small messes or infrequent cleaning I’d agree with you but I’m looking at it because I’m sick of having to hoover. and then mop, large areas more than once a day with our dogs traipsing all through the house.
Shark warranties are as good as dirt. They will fight you for returning it and claim you broke it, and then if and when they accept the warranty repair, YOU have to pay return shipping ($80-$120) and then you do not get your vacuum repaired, you get whatever refurbished model they have in the warehouse to send you, and that's all you get. There is absolutely zero point buying warranties anymore, period, because they are never honored and companies do not repair anything. That stopped well over 30 years ago. The warranty is just more money to make the corporation richer for absolutely nothing. I fix my own stuff anyway so I have no use for a warranty. @@steve45678
The on/off button on my shark vac split and fell off after 3 years. It has 4 year warranty, shark sent me a new hand assembly by return with absolutely no quibble. I was quite impressed. I use the vac multiple times a day to pick up scattered cat litter so it probably had rather more power-up cycles in its time than shark anticipated!
Hi only now found your channel I just bought one of these like yourself on QVC but i was thinking of sending it back because I noticed that the base that holds the cleaner gets a little wet and little droplets of water is that normal? ,But a great video my friend I just subscribe as well.
It is perfectly normal that the base will get wet as the underside of the machine will be wet after use. Most of the floor washers I’ve tested come with a storage tray to prevent the floor getting wet while the machine is not being used. Mine does leave odd drops of water in use, but they soon dry. If your not happy with it you have up to 60 days to return, but I would use it for a bit longer before deciding.
Great video, I'll definitely be getting one! Can you tell me though what the Shark solution smells like and if you managed to do all that cleaning on a single charge please? 😊
It is a subtle flowery smell, nothing overpowering. It did everything in the video without the need to charge and there was plenty of charge left in the battery. I have used it a few times in a large kitchen, bathroom and downstairs toilet and there was always plenty of capacity in the battery, but the capacity will reduce with time.
One holds the roller and I assume the other section is to put the filter after washing it. The instructions don’t mention the storage areas on the charging base.
Hi Roger/Scott, I have found with my Hydrovac also bought from QVC the clear Roller cover stands on its end in the slim storage at the back of the dock. I assume it keeps it safe whilst the roller drys in the other. Also Roger the filter cage comes apart making it easier to wash and squeeze the filter dry. Thanks again Roger for another brilliant video.

IBAISAIC, (in your opinion) which one is better: SHARK or DYSON. I get very confused which one is better. I have a feeling Shark is better but the reason why i'm asking this question is because Shark's kitchen product company, NINJA makes pretty disappointing blenders which is very surprising because in their usa adverts they are comparing themselves to the legendary VITAMIX which is actually made in America and has second to none build quality and performance as opposed to Ninja (which according to many people) can't grinds things like leafy greens or seeds very well because of their dangerous stacked blades as opposed to vitamix's hardened laser cut blades that deliver results that are very professional. Shark also do usa ads comparing themselves to dyson. So really want to know if Shark is really better than dyson for a fraction of the cost or is it simply false advertisement just like the Ninja blenders. PLEASE Roger give me what you think.
As a brand, I would probably say Dyson, but Shark make a wider variety of machines that are pretty innovative. I have no experience of the blenders so I can’t comment on that.
There will be at least three more Shark videos of cleaners I purchased previously and many more videos of machines I have decided to buy as it’s my UA-cam channel and my money that has to pay for these things.
There is no faffing about with this cleaner when used on a regular basis and not on a big mess like the one I showed in the video. I have used this daily since I got it and I’ve only had to tip out the dirty water and occasionally use the self clean feature. Filter cleaning and washing the roller is normally just a monthly task. If I came to wash your floors with this after your mop and bucket you may change your mind.
Sorry for the delay in responding, I don't think I can upload photos on here to show you how small my kitchen is! It's smaller than the bathroom. You'd be welcome to pop round and clean the floor if you're ever around the Edinburgh area.

It’s a HARD FLOOR cleaner. It cannot be used as a vacuum alone as the cleaner switches off when it runs out of solution. I think I mention that in the video.

It's impressive but too much faffing about for me, I'm happy to continue as a Dinosaur with mop and bucket!
Who lets you into their home, to slag off their filthy floors whilst you are demonstrating floor cleaners? Why not do it in your own home you cheeky sod ! 😂😂
A good demonstration Susan...🙂🙃 do you ever review budget machines?
I think it's Roger's mother's house. It's a busy household with dogs in and out, so not easy to keep spotless.
Roger already does lots of demos in his own house.
Are you the Vacuum Police or something?!
Core blimey mate that is a dirty tank.
Your wife is killing u for making that mess
I’m a poof but if I had a wife she wouldn’t have killed me as all the mess was cleaned up.
you need to get a wife or a life.
I have a very privileged lucky life. As for a wife, these days gay men have no need to marry a woman in order to cover up their true nature. I have a partner of more than 20 years and live in a very nice, comfortable home in a quiet area. I hope you can find happiness one day.
@ibaisaic thank you for cleaning up the comments as you did the kitchen in the video 😊
You need to get out of the 1950s!
So is this a VACUUM or a hardwood floor wet cleaner?
It’s a HARD FLOOR cleaner. It cannot be used as a vacuum alone as the cleaner switches off when it runs out of solution. I think I mention that in the video.
