    We need more friendships like John and Serj! It's perfectly fine and actually healthy to have different views, it refines our ideas and broadens our perspectives. That being said, it saddens me to see the effect of media, and social media especially, in making people feel so alienated from one another to the point where families are being ruptured over what's being said in the news, one side listens to Fox and one to MSNBC and they both tell their audience to hate each other which I find despicable. No human being is irredeemable and we should strive to communicate with one another and learn!

      @@Ms.GreenJeans Mastermind is correct, the US is notoriously hard to immigrate to. As a South American, I could go to Canada or most, if not every, European country in much less time and with a lot less paperwork. There might be many immigrants, but that is because the world is big and the US is preffered by many, but it is very hard to go there, even as a qualified worker.
      It really surprises me that an American has this perception of the immigration procedure.

    • @IAssolantVencato
      @IAssolantVencato 3 роки тому

      @S Ayan Indeed, but still I can repeat my answer, word by word. The US is notoriously hard to immigrate to, specially if you're not from Europe or other rich countries and specially if you want to immigrate legally. In fact, it is even hard to get a visa. Don't believe me? Just try to research it... I've done this for years trying to move from South America. Don't forget to take into account what's the average salary in other countries.
      In my country, with a high rate of business failure for small businesses, to get a green card by investment, with a skilled worker's average salary, investing an amount that wouldn't leave you with much room for rent and food in some of the good common investment funds available to the general public it takes about 43 years - taxes apart... include taxes it takes about 50 years.
      I don't know... ask a Mexican or someone from India or Pakistan if it's easy.
      I say this, but the US is not even at the top of my personal list... despite likely being at the top for billions of people, many from countries with even lower salaries than mine. There's the green card lottery, but most of these people (including from my own country) are not elligible for the lottery.
      Luckly for me, the ones I'd like to immigrate to are easier, but I assure you I researched the process for the US well enough.

For some reason people really feel the need for you to express their anger and tell you that if you don’t feel like them then you are a bad person. But there are many ways of looking at a situation and lowering your emotional state is not necessarily gonna help make a positive change in this world. Except that one point of view isn't really a valid way of thinking. Support for trump isn't valid. Its suicidal. The United States Government didnt have your best interest in mind when Bush or Obama were president...or Clinton. Trump is only different because he's worse. He gives power to literal nazi's, and when you are tolerant of intolerance, they make tolerance a crime. They wont label the KKK a terrorist group as they literally terrorize with guns, but antifa isn't even really a group so much as anyone who is...well taking organized anti-fascist action, and they get labeled a terrorist group? There's no grand wizard or central intelligence of antifa. Its just anyone who cant handle the material conditions of living in a system which will not allow you the same privileges as others based on things you can't control, like color, or sexuality.

      @Griff - Griff - I dont think he IS anti-globalist and I dont think he threatens the elite. The elite love him. They dont fear him, he's a puppet buffoon they put in power to make disillusioned white men who make up the majority vote. He seems like an outsider, but he's never been one. He's always been a friend to the Clinton's, the global elite. He's always BEEN global elite. But he makes poor white people feel stood up for by not having a background in politics. The power structure probably doesn't hate him at all. I think we both agree that the power structure is corrupt, evil even. Let's call them bad guys. By getting the "bad guys" to martyr Donald, he becomes a hero in the eyes of those disillusioned, but uneducated majority. I swear I'm not TRYING to quote Serj. By becoming a hero, he gets forgiven by the public every time he steals our rights. Kinda like how the whole country forgave Obama for stealing our rights because he was historically the first non-white president, unless you count JFK's MASSIVE dong. Do you think he would be president if he was our friend? That's why people like Bernie get bullied out of nominations. Maybe you're right and he's come to some sort of wokeness shortly before running, but uh lemme ask you this: why do the Democrats keep picking their worst candidates to go up against him if they didnt want him to win?

But I have a problem with the opinion of 'you're gonna get bad people in every job' thing Although I agree with this - it shouldn't be that way for the Police and people in positions of power. These are people we entrust with our safety and our lives. His layed back and 'well that's what you're gonna get' stance is too passive. We as a society and human beings need to be so vigilant when it comes to that, on it like a Hawk. Then if you look at the completely abnormal numbers of times predominantly black people have had their rights barbarically taken away on such a successive day to day basis points at not just a bad cop - good cop dynamic like he said - but a much more deep seeded systemic problem.

    I think the thing that's throwing people off is that he's the drummer of SOAD and he's a moderate conservative when the lyrics of their songs are very progressive. Most blatant probably being Prison Song. The two explanations I can think of are that either he was more into the music side of the songs than their lyrics, or that he actually agrees with the song's meanings. There's a huge difference between what conservative politicians believe and what typical conservative people believe. There's no rule that conservatives can't be anti-war, wanting prison reform, wanting police reform, wanting to keep the environment clean, and believing that the Armenian Genocide happened and was tragic. The secret with a lot of normie conservatives is that they agree with a lot of progressive ideas in reality. It's just that, for some reason, they still vote for Republican politicians based on just one or two issues.
    Not to say I necessarily agree with his conclusions on a lot of political issues, but I see where he's coming from and believe he believes it's what best for society.

      It’s probably as he said, as you get older your perspectives on things change. Prison song and Mr. Jack and Deer Dance were released 20 years ago when John was in his 20’s. Now he’s in his 40’s, he’s married, he has a couple kids, and he’s made a lot of money. Lots of people are liberal when they’re young and have nothing to lose but as you get older your views change, particularly when you have kids. It’s entirely possible that he was fully invested in those concepts 20 years ago but he’s changed as he’s got older. People change. And you’re correct that there’s no rule that says you can’t be conservative and believe in all the things you listed (see Ron Paul) because while you might want to see all those things happen, you also want the government to leave you the fuck alone and not confiscate obscene amounts of your money. There’s also no rule that says being anti-war and pro-police reform means you also must be down with universal healthcare and free college and free childcare and free whatever else under the sun...financed by your tax dollars. And there’s also quite a big jump from “We need police reform” to “Fuck the police, they’re pigs.” I will say I do agree with you that as a drummer he was also probably distant from the lyrical side of things.

    As a moderate conservative, with more centrist leanings, I can tell you that for the last four years we’ve been so divided. I’ve never seen such hostility amongst the American people as we do now. The founding fathers knew that we’d all disagree on many issues. They knew we wouldn’t all see exactly eye to eye, but that’s what this country was founded on. A melting pot of different ideas and perspectives.. I believe that once we learn to accept this idea of diversity in opinions, only then can we be United. If you’re a liberal or conservative, try to put all negativity aside for just a second and think about the bigger picture. Do we want to send our kids off into a world where tensions are always escalating over politics or do we want them to live in a place where it’s okay to be different? We might not be able to heal quickly, but the best thing we can do is teach our kids absolute tolerance (real tolerance). We need to teach them to take other people’s beliefs into account and stop trying to instill OUR idea of America into their heads.
