if im not wrong at first she's auditioning to be a vocalist, but since all mamamoo member aside from her already became vocalist she decide to take the main rapper role, she only had to polish her vocal again and didnt had to learn from basic

Although Moonbyul does have good vocals, her voice isn't as powerful as the other members so their company pushed her to be a rapper to make the group more dynamic. Hence why she hardly gets any singing lines when singing with Mamamoo

I am always amazed about how MB and Solar always seems hyped and having fun when performing HIP, you would think they have done that song so much, that they would grow tired of it themselves, but they have this almost childish pure happiness about them when doing HIP, just like in this performance and also in Killing Voices! It makes me ridiculously happy to see how much fun they have!
I love this idea for mutual song promotion! Not only can they switch parts and cover each other's songs, but they can give them their own flair and character. I love the way Solar-nim sounds when she raps with her cute swagger and the way MoonByul-nim sounds when she sings with a kind of deep flow.
Damn. Mamamoo is THIS GOOD! They are the extremes of the group vocal-wise, switching between that person who can hit the highest VS the lowest notes. It's definitely a challenge!. You wouldn't even notice that they are not singing their parts because they give justice to whatever line they are singing. I love how they're also constantly harmonizing with each other. I went through as much as possible comments with suggestion of having full versions of these songs & liked them all. Hopefully my passions for this version of the songs will bring them to life.
honey is low in the first part.. when solar sing by herself it sound breathy.. whilst byul tone is naturally base tone.. lower register in the first part of honey really suit her and when solar and byul harmonies together it sounds fuller, consist of lower and higher register..
They both slay their part. I love Moon Byul singing Honey, and that rap.. ugh really jawdropping. Same with Solar singing Lunatic, it's really amazing, like that is naturally her song. This video shows we really need MoonSun sub unit
I am OBSESSED with this, it'll be on repeat for months. This just goes to show what we've always known, each and every single member can carry their own in terms of vocals and rap. I wish they utilized Byul's lower register more in Mamamoo's songs, it adds so much to the song!

Their Vocal mentor when they are trainee got shocked when Moonbyul said she is rapper of the group (mamamoo) because she thought Moonbyul also vocalist ( like lead vocalist ). If you are new mamamoo fan or casual listner, i just want to say that Moonbyul already experienced more one Lead vocalist ( but i believe she also experienced the main vocalist) and Leader of her past group before we have mamamoo. ( she has group before with Wheein which is Moonbyul is the leader and Wheein is the Maknae ) She also studied in SM academy as Vocalist in many years she more vocalist than rapper, Her Rapper trainee only have less than 1year
Okay so I finally watched it all and wow Byul's low, slightly gravelly tone goes so well with Solar's airy voice. Honey specially was a treat to the ear!! UOAY will always be my favorite of all time but dare I say it just got even better? I just might dare lol. Not to forget your banter makes everything doubly better!! I am seeing this again and I can't stop feeling so proud of Moonbyul, she is an amazing vocalist that needs more opportunities to shine. Both of them are so good in vocals and rap, all rounders indeed!
I always love the little textures Solar adds to Moonbyul’s songs when she does the vocal. Light vibratos and stuff. And obviously Moonbyul’s rap fit so perfectly for Solar’s song. But also her vocal’s matched the style as well since a lot of the lines are short and impactful and Moonbyul can have a pretty girlish tone depending on how high she allows herself to sing.
Love moonbyul's voice in HIP and Honey so much. Solar is unbeatable in her facial expression, so alluring. Their clothes though is like gogobebe MV 😝 one going to party, other one going to library to study.
I was just thinking that Moonbyul would do well rapping Honey! And Solar singing "Lunatic" - what a treat! This is exactly why Mamamoo is a rap and vocal powerhouse. Not one member is bad at either rapping or singing!

She didn't because at the time she wasn't confident in singing, that's why it took her so long to be able to do so. That's why there weren't a lot of videos of her singing back then!

Their Vocal mentor when they are trainee got shocked when Moonbyul said she is rapper of the group (mamamoo) because she thought Moonbyul also vocalist ( like lead vocalist ). If you are new mamamoo fan or casual listner, i just want to say that Moonbyul already experienced more one Lead vocalist ( but i believe she also experienced the main vocalist) and Leader of her past group before we have mamamoo. ( she has group before with Wheein which is Moonbyul is the leader and Wheein is the Maknae )
She also studied in SM academy as Vocalist in many years she more vocalist than rapper, Her Rapper trainee only have less than 1year

Okay so I finally watched it all and wow Byul's low, slightly gravelly tone goes so well with Solar's airy voice. Honey specially was a treat to the ear!!

I always love the little textures Solar adds to Moonbyul’s songs when she does the vocal. Light vibratos and stuff.
And obviously Moonbyul’s rap fit so perfectly for Solar’s song. But also her vocal’s matched the style as well since a lot of the lines are short and impactful and Moonbyul can have a pretty girlish tone depending on how high she allows herself to sing.

The way she nailed the rap part in honey screams MAIN RAPPER TO ME. But also when sang the vocal parts in mamamoo songs, we never heard her singing them, I was like 🥺🥺🥺. Why did she have any vocal parts in them in the first place!!!
She didn't because at the time she wasn't confident in singing, that's why it took her so long to be able to do so. That's why there weren't a lot of videos of her singing back then!
