    • @N0xiety

It will take 10 days to get there tho, efficieny has its disadvantages. It's effectively like a motorized glider that's as fast as an average car traveling on highway. The enemy will most definitely know they are coming.
Ofc, if you can have tens of thousands of these, it would kinda stop mattering they are slow and that the enemy knows. Just send them in waves, have some sacrificial ones at the front that deploys a few dozen kill drones each and be shot down. Those will go for the ground to air defense systems and open up the way for more to enter the enemy airspace, rinse repeat. And if you couple the arrival with your own jets to handle the enemy jets, it's basicaly game over.
Average soldier costs 50k dollars to train, and 100k to maintain each year, so imagine. Spread that cost over a decade, and you could have one of these drones instead of a soldier on standby. Which one would be more effective in war in terms of killing power? And if they could be made even cheaper with mass production, you might as well not have soldiers...

The Recon ability alone is serious especially if they can keep these attritable. I like the new push the US is really taking long strides on advanced drone capabilities. Make me wonder why they didn't do it sooner? were contractors and the Pentagon stuck in their old ways? was there just no real perceived need or what. Still, all these new drone capabiltiies makes me thing the US is real serious about Operation "Hellscape" against China.

The vehicle was created by a small startup company which was trying to develop an extremely long range UAV that would be as simple and inexpensive as possible. Hence "vanilla" unmanned systems. The idea was to have something for NASA, at 1/100 of the cost of existing large UAVs, but which would still be capable of launching from the US, flying to the South Pole, doing atmospheric research for a few days and then returning back to the launch point to refuel.

Perhaps he recognizes that the use of these weapons would likely mean the destruction of himself, his society, and perhaps the human race. But his thinking is based on the premise that military force is essential for the survival of what he has been led to believe is "his" tribe, "his" ethnicity, and he cannot conceive of other alternatives. So he can only praise every advancement in weaponry and hope that somehow those weapons will never be used.

To the American people: This technology has the ability to also act as law enforcement in our country. Can you imagine an authoritarian government using a drone swarm to rule our country with an iron fist? There would be enough drones to passify the entire US population. That would be like every man, woman, and child having their own personal police officer. This couldn't get more dystopian if they tried. This technology, specifically AI and drones, is incompatible with freedom.
