Be really interesting to get one of the RSD team on an interview, how they choose how many of each genre, and especially volumes would be very interesting
Dave Gardner does really fantastic work (the mastering engineer who did the Org Music releases). Dave has been working on a project for me, so I might be able to connect you if you’re interested in talking to him for the channel.
I can’t say that any of these releases are that interesting, with the Music Inc. live release perhaps being the exception. I will just spend my money on the Joe Henderson/ McCoy Tyner release coming out on Blue Note in late November. Also, Chicago era of Sun Ra is the best era of Sun Ra.
Except for the Remler I thought the titles uninteresting. April was a whole let better. I found some of the non jazz ones more interesting. Enough Evans; I skipped the last one.
I don’t mean to be that guy but where is the miles davis? John Coltrane? Herbie Hancock? Make their A+ albums RSD and young people may pick them up. I get having Max roach etc but to actually get the youth into jazz it’s essential that these guys should be part of it
Not for record store day but legacy is issuing a 5 lp set of Miles concerts in France in November and Craft issuing issuing a collection of Miles pre Trane recordings in November as well
Ordered "Deeds not words" on cd about 8 years ago and got a cd-r. I just love supporting Concord/Craft. (eyeroll) I had to track down an old second hand copy instead of supporting the license holder. Shame!
Record Store Day is unfortunately no longer what it once was, and that is a great shame, at least that is my opinion and experience. Circulations of 1000 or 2500 copies worldwide are of course a big joke. Record Store Day was once intended to stimulate independent record stores, but has now degenerated into a commercial campaign that mainly benefits music publishers. And above all, it is a drop in the desert when the LPs are largely bought by buyers who only visit a record store once, at most twice a year, because the rest of the year everything is bought online.
What strikes me funny is that most of the VC community spends their money on reissues of records that they have grown up with and own multiple versions of trying to find the best sound!!! I own 4 copies but maybe this new release will sound better Kind of crazy and expensive
Your RSD Previews are always helpful & useful. I look for your vid every time before hitting the RSD events.
Nice reviews & now I have a few more items to add to my list...
You deserve more subscribers 👍.
Helpful review - thanks. I am most excited about the Emily Remler & Sahib Shihab. Don't know Julian Lage at all so need to investigate.

I also came here to say enough with the Bill Evans releases-hopefully they start seeing the comments.
Nobody is forcing you to buy it.
I think they sell so many of those Bill Evans that helps make some of the other lesser known artist releases more plausible
Very interested in the Charles Tolliver. Sahib Shihab sounds great as well.

We're always interested in any mastering/cutting & engineering interviews.
Was hoping for some Woody Shaw and Joe Henderson maybe next year
You brought your old speakers back?
Good eye! I actually brought them in to A/B on a recent release that I wasn’t completely happy with. Turns out, it wasn’t the speaker’s fault!
Thank you for all the work you put in
I’m getting the Bill Evans
Yes too much Bill Evans - still getting it
I will say my RSD buy will be way down - something like 25%

Do we know if that anticipated JH/MT from Blue Note is AAA by chance?
Not sure, and I am not too worried about it. It sounds good on streaming, so it should sound even better on record.
Only interested in the sun ra really, and maybe Wolfs in the Throne Room. I dont need another live bill Evans lp!
As far as Bill Evans go, they should do Letter to Evan
Yeah man, the titles definitely are not as numerous as April

Nance in France is pronounced Naawns, Nancy is a girls name. Great VR as always
You know i would have pronounced it slightly wrong anyway, but also in this case my notes autocorrected on my macbook that made it even more egregious

Thanks for your enthusiasm ☺️.

You changed shirt….
Haha good eye. I filmed basically all of it, then realized the next day I forgot one of the titles. Figured no one would notice…
Oh not more live Bill Evans 👎 "Elemental known for great packaging" Hmmmmmmm
