I really enjoy Derwent stuff. I got their line and wash set a while ago, it's that same kind of white palette and it comes with two fineliners and a brush, and also has a mix of different kinds of their paints. I had only used their pencils before, and I thought a set like that would be a really good way to get to know their paints, a little bit of everything. I like them a lot, and I think that I will want to buy this shade and tone set as well. I really appreciate it when companies release sets that are aimed at mixed media stuff, where just that set is everything you need. It's perfect for getting to know new products, and they also make great gifts for when you do not know what exact supplies someone already has, or whether they have any at all. Just get them a sketchbook and a set like that, and then they have everything that they need to get started.

The intense are nice as well, just not as lightfast.

I could watch you sketch all day. I love your landscape sketching. Derwent is my absolute favorite art supply company. They find ways to create products like no one else. I'd have to add a few more colors of the sketching pencils, which are my favorite colored pencils ever made. I'd also need to swap in a warm or earth yellow and a cool blue. Then I'd be set to take this out. Thanks for the review Marty!

Have you been doing urban type sketching?
@@owingsart Not yet! Trying to do more value studies, especially for portraits, since I stubbornly skipped out on those types of important lessons a good while ago. But I live in an area where I think it will be great for urban sketching as well with that range of colors/media. The set was also my first introduction to the Derwent Drawing pencils, so I went ahead and added their Ink Blue and Mars Violet to accompany it for my personal tastes. Glad to see this set getting love on your channel and thank you for another great video!
I thought it could use a pink for portraits , but your sketch of feet looked pink in areas, so maybe one of those colors can make a pinker tone
I just mixed the sanguine and the orange a bit and added a little more water and got the pinkish color.

Is this a watercolor sketch book? Have you tried these on different papers?
I am curious are you still using the U.Go Plein Air Anywhere Pochade Box that you reviewed a couple of years ago? do you use it often?
Hi There - I do use it. It's winter time now in Minnesota so I use it less, but the other three seasons help me get good us out of this little box. Very handy and pretty well built. I also use Charlie Lee's portable/foldable easel, which I have a video review up for. Between the two, they split time depending on how lightweight I want to be. If I'm hiking a long distance I take the box because it's actually a little lighter. Hope this helps. - Marty

How do you sharpen those pencils?
Hi April - Pretty much the same as I sharpen any pencil. Maybe a little more carefully because I don't want to chip the core. Never use a machine on these though.
I dont get this set. I think I dont like skin sets in general.
