The thing that impresses me the most about Sanguinius is that they made a character who's whole thing is being the best and most beloved person in the galaxy and he actually ended up being one of the most beloved characters out of universe.
His selflessness and martyrdom take what would otherwise be a Mary Sue and makes him a true hero. His speech before the Infinity Gate is worthy of the classics.
Not just a just and fair leader, but a just and fair man. Beloved by all while carrying the weight that comes from being perceived as nigh perfect. Never again will such a hero shine.
I love how in the actual meeting of Sang and The Emp they were both dead locked reading each other's souls and thoughts in real time. It wasn't exactly a tearful reunion. Angel drew lines in the sand and Emps agreed. Which is why Baal and its moons are still a wasteland til the present day.
I wish the Lion has done something similar because reading what the Imperium has done to Caliban, tearing up the forests, strip mining and popping up arcologies in place of the ancient fortress towns had damaged the very being of Caliban...ignoring all the taint and Oroborus that is. And the very character of the Legion was affected by the noble image of the Order defending the people against the Great Beasts had changed with their departure for the Great Crusade and removed the Legion from the direct view of their duty, saving the people from the threats that befell them. I might be reading too much into it but reading what was done to Caliban just brought to mind how Sanguinius drew that line for the Emperor and managed to keep Baal as it was.
We are tested, and we do not break. We will never fall! It is not the descent toward the shadow nor the rise toward the light that makes us superior. It is the endless struggle between the two that greatness of character lies.

Big E was the one that killed Sanguinius during the Siege of Terra. After Sanguinius killed Horus. Big E could not have a competitor for the affections of mankind.

I was never fond of the official artwork for the most beloved son (and I say that as a fan of the Lion and his sons) but the fan set for him is often amazing, especially the one at 7:03. I always thought he should have a somewhat effeminate but strong look like Griffith from Beserk or Elric of Melniboné...just not pale as death.
@@ericfernandes3284 Thank you for this comment Dude....I have actually had a change of heart of late and figured out why it was impossible that Sanguineous could have ever been Warmaster. Those wings of his...those beautiful wings that made him an angel prevented him from ever being Warmaster. For an Imperium desperately trying to become Secular and do away with anything religious...having an Angel as Warmaster would have been horrendously counterproductive...as of course the people of the Imperium would have deified him and worshipped him (Which they did anyway after his death). The Emperor knew he couldn't make Sang. Warmaster and Horus was the natural selection. And as you prove in your post, If Sanguineous had become Warmaster and turned....the Imperium would have been lost. Sanguineous was too much loved and was too powerful...it would of spelled the end. I have read in many places now that the Horus Heresy or something like it was destined to happen no matter what...that the Emperor was just too great a threat to the chaotic powers to be allowed to continue and that the 4 powers would have figured out a way for a heresy of some form to have started no matter what...even if Sang. would have been Warmaster.
@@ericfernandes3284 Nope, no sarcasm, actually do agree with you. I have always been a Hawk Boy fan...I always thought Sanguineous was one of the best characters in the lore. I have found too that the more Horus Heresy Books you read, you see just how complex a character Sanguineous really was. He wasn't perfect....he certainly had flaws (Though not many) and I feel he was doomed from the beginning and I think the Emperor may have sensed that. Regardless, thanks for your response partner.
Can you imagine in 1 million years, they find these archeological findings of 40k lore, and people start to believe it for what happened to humanity, and then they start a warhammer religion.
I’ve recently started getting into Warhammer, reading the Horus Heresy series and some other books. But nothing has gotten me more invested or excited into Warhammer than your videos, thank you so much for your hard work and dedication
The Emperor recognising the people of Baal and allowing them to live as they always have and carry their faith in Sanguinius is the real Emperor, the living father. It is just a shame that his humanity had to be sacrificed to create his sons and over time became cold and distant though reappearing from time to time. The Emperor, the true Emperor truly loves his sons and humanity.
Can you make a video about food and eating in the 40k verse? There must be more than just corpse starch. I wonder what chaos marines eat, or the imperial army, orks and other races!
Not sure if it’s your character or you’re truly and older person but if you are shout outs for making lore from the black library more accessible than reading all of the hundreds of books. I think hes the coolest looking loyalist primarch and it be so cool to see the angel of death fight angron the world ending demon. I think im gonna build a diorama of that actually.
Both Sanguinius and Kurze saw what would happen. The Angel chose to save the Emperor, and Kurze chose to betray Him and to let himself be assassinated. Now, the question is: Which one of the sons of the Emperor should we trust?
This is the first time I'm hearing that the Emperor allowed Sanguinis to be viewed as a god. That seems so wildly out of character to me. Can't understand why he chose to make Horus warmaster over Sanguinius. Makes me think that Horus was correct, that it was always the Emperor's plan to become a god.
If I remember it correctly it was more of a "let the people choose for themself", dont force it on them, and since the angel joined the emperor one could argue that it was fairly certain that the people of Baal would do the same and align themself very well with the Imperium. So for me its more like of "how" and not "if" the imperial laws were brought to the people.
I thought the new lore said that there was no damage to Horus's armour, no mortal wound that helped later on. Horus just toy'd with him for a while, trying to get him to fall to chaos, then just utterly smashed him without mercy. I think it said something like Horus beat him like a dog. It was really horrific....
The updated fluff - which is canon since it's officially from the owners of the content - protected the baby face (to borrow a term from professional wrestling) in describing the battle between Sanguinius and Horus. Sanguinius fought day in, day out, for months without rest. He fought entire companies on his own, multiple titans, a named Bloodthirster (again), then fought Angron and suffered a mortal wound that was slowly killing him. Meanwhile, Horus sat on his ship as a hollow battery just charging warp energy and never lifted a finger. He was fresh as a daisy on his ship when he fought the broken, battered, exhausted, and mortally wounded Sanguinius. It was known by both Horus and Sanguinius that the Angel could have gone farther to defeat Horus, but in order to do so, he would have had to surrender a part of himself to the power he felt within - which could have been for either Order or Chaos. Instead, he remained his broken self, but his own demise ensured his visions of foresight would end and Horus would never reach the surface of Terra. The Emperor, meanwhile, could have deleted Horus from existence at any time, but was hoping against hope that Horus could be turned back.
